2 min into this video and at $350 I'm thinking what a steal! Just the chassis and tires are worth it alone. Servos are cheap and most of us RC guys have radios already. Most guys toss the stock motor/ESC anyway. Great video.
I just bought one off eBay for AUD$1800 about $1100 US$...A new XMaxx in Australia is $2000. The one I got is near new...The upgrades would cost over a grand here easily plus I wouldn't be very good with all the wrenching. It came today....so stoked! Tis a beast that has been put on steroids. The guy has been a mechanic for 30 years so that gave me faith. Castle 800kv, Max 5, Proline resovcir shocks, 2085x servo, Proline Badlands 34. I did the sums and probably close to $1500 in upgrades...I took a punt!
New motor or not, you got a steal on this Xmaxx. Upgrading to your standard (while awesome) should not be included in the costs of getting this truck back on the road. I have a box stock Sledge that has over 50 sessions on it and haven't had any issues whatsoever. I keep it clean, check my fluids and bearings and she just keeps ticking along. Looking forward to part 2.
I'm not sure why people think they can put on taller tires that weigh almost twice as much but keep the stock gearing..... it usually doesn't end well. Even if you don't overheat, all that extra weight can easily damage the drivetrain or even snap arms and pins.
One tip about working with mismatched suspension or plastic parts is to dye them black. Assuming the plastic will take the dye. It worked great on my used 1/16 revo with red and blue RPM parts
@@AJJAMStudios ha, I meant to say tires.... Those tires are $200, sell the tires and charger for $300🎯👍 Buy a set of Stock Tires off Jenny's for $100👍👍
I don't know where people find buyers for used rcs that are that expensive. I've been trying to sell a loaded highly modified CEN Reaper for $600 and no bites. I probably have $2k in it and a ton of parts. It's a fun truck, but I need to move it for other projects.
Always Gr8 stopping in for one of your Wrenching Sessions AJ.... I'm kinda thinking those 7 ib tires could have something to do with toasting that motor .... so my question is is there a belted tire out there I could use on my XMaxx that doesn't weigh a ton that won't toast the motor or create gearing issues...? with the 8s power on the XMaxx the factor tires just don't perform that well ......Looking forward to the next video in this series.... thank you for sharing........👍👍
Powerhobby Armor X Belted Pre-Mounted Tires FOR Traxxas X-Maxx XMaxx Chrome. They weigh in at about 6 lbs a set. We haven’t tested them though so we can’t recommend them. 😎👍
Why didn't you just call Traxxas support. I bought a Hoss of ebay and if I wanted to send the car to them they would fix it. I don't care what anybody says about Traxxas I have always been treated very well by them. Same thing with their batteries the most you will have to do is send the faulty battery to them. Most times all I had to do was send them a video. I use my Traxxas warrenty to the max!!
Replacing the factory motor with another factory motor? Not immediately throwing that stock esc in the garbage? $350 is a bargain even if the motor, esc, servo, radio, and reciever are trash. You can't buy a SLIDER for that. Where is this imaginary pawnshop?
This is the second RC we've picked up at a local pawnshop and both were a bargain. As far as the motor replacement goes, returning it to stock to compare with the price of buying a new Xmaxx is the whole idea for the video. Finding out what others do to their RCs' is always interesting for us here and you never know what you'll find buying a used RC. We are aware of the upgrades that are available, but our channel runs stock power for most of our videos to show what you get when you buy one. Upgrades are awesome and we know that, but not everyone can afford them. By the way, the pawnshop is definitely not imaginary. We appreciate your comment. Bash on! 😎👍
Agreed Pawn Shops are terrible! Buying from other hobbyists is best and supports the hobby. Sometimes I sell parts from builds I’ve done. I keep all the old parts and will put those back on and sell as basically new, with all the instructions and stickers. Usually other sellers will have way better deals than a pawn shop. P.S. if he knows the previous owner but bought it at a pawn shop does that make sense? Something smells fishy…
Great video, as always!!! Please keep them coming!! 👍

Couldn't agree more!
Thank you Sir for your service! Awesome video - as always.
Thank you kindly 😎👍

We are not counting the costs of the upgrades. 😎👍

Correct. I couldn't agree more. 😎👍

Motor fans not working and it over heated with the new tires
So ,new set of badlands $200 plus tax, x-maxx for $150🤔, I’d buy it

True. Dying parts is possible, in some circumstances. Thanks for sharing.
Nice
Thanks

I did not come with the batteries, just the charger.

Where in the world are you finding X-Maxx's (even not running) for $350. lol No one will sell one here for less than $700. Hate this place lol

Maybe the Proline Masher. It’s belted and doesn’t weigh a ton.

Already in the works. Thanks for commenting 😎👍

Drop 1100 in it

Stolen RCs from a pawn shop, huh. Who is missing an X-Maxx with a blue pair of a-arms? Keep enjoying other’s misfortune.
I happen to know that this one was NOT stolen. I know the owner.
With it being broken, i dont think it was stolen. But its a pawn shop so maybe....

It's not fishy. He was going to lose it to the pawn shop and offered it to us. We went down and bought it back. No fish.
