Wonderful demonstration Molly! I learned an awfully lot from your video and it also answered many of my questions! Thanks sooo much for all your work in making this video! Safe turning and burning to you always!

I have only watched to 18:26 so far -- already had several DING! moments.
e.g. "Just because it came off the lathe round, does not mean it has to stay round." plus your examples. the examples make the concept tangible/concrete.
    thank you so much.

    Great video.
Molly came to our turning club a few years ago to show pretty much the same. It was a real good meeting. Love her work...!

Keep up the fun videos, Thank You! To answer Nicolie below, After burning the wood I use an old firm tooth brush or stiff brush to burnish the surface some and clean up the loose soot. I can usually put finish right on the part just after doing that. The result has no loose ash or soot and does not rub off.

Also, I should have said this first, and I hope she checks back at different channels to see any comments left for her...! MOLLY, VERY NICE DEMONSTRATION! You are very inspiring! I hope to find more of you on youtube, also demonstrating your turning!

Wonderful information, it made for so much inspiration. I was tickled to find out you use a Burnmaster because that's what I have too. TFS!

After branding, does she use anything to get the excess soot off the wood so when the piece is handled it doesn't turn your hands black, rub off onto other objects or furniture... Also, it seems as though the excess soot could smear and/or gunk up if a finish was put on when the piece was finished. Would a finish not be used after branding?
