Thanks for sharing! The bread technically is still leavened though not with yeast, because you used baking powder, which is what gives it the rise you showed in the video. It creates or traps gas and makes it light and fluffy. Without it in your recipe it would be dense. However, there are other ingredients that can give the same effect. This is similar to naan from India and somewhat roti (but bigger from the Caribbean) and somewhat like tortilla. Each country has their own twist but almost has the same base ingredients 😉

Hi I am from India. Your hand made unleavened bread looks truly tempting. We make hand made bread using wheat flour everyday without using yoghurt and yeast or baking powder it is called chapati which really tastes good when consumed hot by dipping into Indian tea or any dry vegetable or gravy. Thank you for posting this recipe 🙏😋👍 Indian name kulcha as already mentioned tastes good when consumed with Indian spicy veg or non-veg curries.

I have been cooking chapatis from my childhood. I would do as my mom would cook no specific measurements but I can share the recipe with you.
Ingredients :- one cup wheat flour, half cup water, one table spoon any cooking oil, salt less than quarter tsp. METHOD :- sieve the flour add oil and salt mix well, add water little by little and prepare a thick dough and let it rest for 15 to 20 minutes then form equal small balls and roll each ball flat apply oil and dust little flour by forming into triangle shape and roll it in round shape not too thin and not too thick roast it on both sides evenly on flat pan and serve hot with any curry or stew made in coconut milk. Follow the same method for rest of the chapati balls. I shared small quantity for you to learn you can increase the measurements as per your choice. Please share your feedback

I just made this tonight and the result was perfect. I made only half the recipe since this was my first time doing it. For those in the USA my measurements were 2 cups flour, 1/2 cup yogurt, 3/4 cup water, 1 teaspoon salt, a little less than 1 teaspoon baking powder. Remember this is for HALF the recipe in the video, so double those measurements if you want more. My first one did not puff up but I realized it's because my pan was not hot enough so be patient and make sure the pan has heated before you cook them. Sometimes just flipping them would encourage them to puff up. Great, easy recipe. Will use frequently. Thank you!

I just made this bread, with rough estimates to half the recipe. Ran out of white flour and used wheat to sprinkle on the counter. The dough didn’t need to rise. Just made the dough and cooked it in the pan right away. The thinner you roll it out, the better. Although you keep it thick, it is also delicious, just make sure to cook it through. Make sure the pan is very hot before you put the dough on it. My halved recipe made four large round pieces of bread which our kids and I promptly ate. It is so good fresh out of the pan. Add a bit more salt to the recipe and douse in butter before you eat. It’s so delicious

Yum ! I added a smidge of red pepper and chili to the basting butter and it turned out to
be perfect for a bunkhouse breakfast.💕
