IF the state tried to hide evidence on this high profile case against someone very wealthy who can fight it, imagine what they've been doing to poor folks all this time.
My thoughts exactly!
Exactly.
That’s a great point. We’re fucked
EXACTLY!!!
And they do. All the time.
People that go on with life after doing this to another human being without any regret or care are, to put it lightly, monsters.
Prosecutors who deliberately withhold evidence that could free a defendant should be jailed. Period. #TRUTH
Absolutely
The same goes the other way, as well. 👍
Happens every GD day...anything for that check in the WIN column...
If this had been a normal person without Alec Baldwin's financial resources, they'd likely have been found guilty and imprisoned.
It makes me absolutely shudder to think how many lives dishonest police and overzealous prosecutors have ruined in this country.. There simply HAS to be ramifications for them. Severe ramifications.

I worked as a court reporter for close to 30 years. This judge's decision was epic. We need more judges like her.
I agree 💯!!
It's really unbelievable, the many violations by the prosecution. Baldwin seemed to be negligent, but they still needed to operate legally.
@@micheleh5269 Was it not the armourer who loaded the gun who was negligent? He just used a prop that was provided for him.
@@lesleyelalami2562 Negligence isn't a zero-sum game. There were multiple steps in the chain in which people should have shown due caution. Baldwin wasn't just an actor, he was also a producer, and one of the people who had been informed of safety concerns just before the incident in question.
Point being, there's at the very least a case worth trying here. I don't know if he would have been found guilty or not, but that was a very real option. It wouldn't have mattered if the armorer was *more* to blame, both could still be to blame.
Either way though, we'll never know, because the prosecution undermined the justice system.

Pretty dirty deal by the Sheriff's Office and Prosecutor to hide evidence against anyone. The Judge was so proficient on the law.

No matter how you feel about Baldwin, this conduct by the prosecution is absolutely unacceptable
The DA was grandstanding for reelection most likely.
Instead it's highly possible that this will end up blowing up in their face pretty badly.
Baldwin's legal bill is millions for nothing about nothing. How is this just? To be chained to these circumstances, not by any fault of your and then be robbed of a small fortune? He should've never been in the crosshairs. He's a damn ACTOR!
It was 100% about trying to get him for making fun of Trump on SNL. Based on this Baldwin should go on a counter attack and the courts should stop allowing themselves to be used for personal vendettas.
It's simply cheating.

I think Baldwin's genuinely devastated over what happened and will live with that anguish for the rest of his life.
All of this. His visceral reaction to what happened WHEN it happened (crying, throwing up) showed it 😢wasn't intended, plus he already has to live with this the rest of his life.
It was an accident. No doubt.

I never understood why he was charged, he had no reason not to think that everything was taken care of properly. He had no idea that those involved in the handling of the gun screwed up.
Agree!
I am with you there.
I don't know how it's handled in USA because your gun laws are way different then ours. However in Germany everyone, who is handling a gun (no matter your job is ... police, soldier, actor, hunter, etc) need to personally check if the gun is loaded. "If you are handling a gun you need to act like it's loaded" is a saying
@@katharinathen821 That is definitely a very important practice, but one can imagine in the case of an actor such as Alex, the people providing/responsible for these "props" should be also doing that and looking out for the whole team. EVERYONE should be held accountable here, not just one person. I don't know if those people were also held to account or not. It is just sad, because Alex had faith in the people who were supposed to be handling that for him. Can you imagine the shock when he fired that gun and someone died when it was supposed to be a prop? Horrible. That makes me angry for him. He was either set up or someone was REALLY negligent and he was the one to take the fall. I get what you are saying on paper is true, but the reality is, he probably knows very little about guns and there was someone on that set who was the expert.
@@averagejane09 I very much agree with you. I can't imagine what he felt as soon as he realized, what happened.

For real! Anything to check a box in the "win" column. Disgusting
Reminds us of Rittenhouse prosecutors.
@@seanmcpherson7962 Agree. The prosecutors tampered with evidence and lied about the evidence they had and covered up crimes of the ones shot.
Something tells me the prosecutor may have had a vested interest in having a celebrity high-profile conviction as a legal notch on her belt.
That's exactly why it's estimated that 1 out of every 20 Americans in prison are in fact innocent. Prosecutorial misconduct is a big issue in this country.
This shit with the prosecution is happening all the time, it's just most people can't afford ten million dollars lawyers
Sadly that is Struve but that’s not Alec’s fault - very stiff sentences need to be given to these bent lawyers to deter them
prison for profit is rotting society from within
That’s the justice system and not on Baldwin.
No lies!!
This is true. I was innocent of what I was accused of but didn't have the money for a lawyer to fight it. Had a public defender that was working with the prosecution more than he was ever working for me. Took a plea deal with no jail time just to make it go away, but it still haunts me today and this was back in 2011. I don't have much trust for anyone anymore. I almost feel like I'm sociopathic now. Really. He shot and killed a person.
Yeah, this case should have never been brought.
It was never his fault to begin with. The actors had to trust the armorer, and the armorer was negligent. Alec Baldwin is as much a victim of this horrible accident as the deceased. This case has been tormenting him and he's been dragged through the mud.

Never seen a Judge Dissect a Case point by point like this judge did. Can’t see the decision going to the Appeals Court ‼️‼️
It can’t anyway. Motions to dismiss can’t be appealed except in a few very specific instances because it counts as double jeopardy
That's what the "extreme prejudice" is about.
"Withholding evidence by a prosecutor during trial" should be a crime punishable by years in jail, a hefty fine, and permanent disbarment from being a lawyer on a second offense. BET YOU if defense attorneys had been caught doing something like this, Mr. Baldwin would be looking at jail time.
The fact that these prosecutors are just going to go on with their lives, maybe with an L in their W/L ratio, is really disgusting because they learn nothing but to be more careful with how they withhold evidence the next time.
There needs to be CONSEQUENCES for these Prosecutors.
The defense has no obligation to give evidence to the prosecution., it's a one way principle, as technically, prosecution has all the powers in the first place.(Police, investigation, interrogtion, arrestation, immunity...). So the defense attorneys would never be able to be "caught" like this.
There are other ethical issues but yeah...

Absolutely! However, when you look at the court process in general, both the prosecution and defense attorneys can formally file a motion with the judge asking to have specific information suppressed from the jury who may find the info important to their decision-making process. It's not fair to suppress evidence without the court's knowledge and it shouldn't be fair to be able to ask the court to suppress information from jurors.

For those of you who have as have I followed this case, it has been apparent for some time that the prosecutors and the police were acting way too arrogant. In their mind, they had made the choices, they made the decisions, they were the law, that they were the case. They had lost their focus on who they are and who they really work for. A prosecutor and the police must never forget that they work for the people. The choices are not their choices, the decisions they do not get to decide. Society long ago has made the choices and the decisions. The police and the prosecutors are required to follow the law as it is written, not the whim of one or the other. The judge made the only decisions she could make based on their conduct
Coincidentally, this is the same focus we have seen abandoned in our Supreme Court’s decisions of late and our national politics. Americans need to do as this defense Attorney and Judge have done and draw the line in the sand. Now, and 100 times if needs be, we the people must draw the line in the sand. Im no fan of Alec Baldwin but this was a ridiculous clown show from the beginning. The armorer was the responsibpe party. The prosecutor intentionally stacking the deck shows just how weak the case was and should be fired and disbarred
Movie set or not....anyone handling a firearm at any time is responsible for what comes out of the barrel. The armorer definitely is culpable....but so is Baldwin. But considering the way the prosecution handled this the judge made the right decision.
@@blnunya6689 Oooohhh Gymnastics.
Like him or not shouldn’t stop someone from being fair and honest, frankly movies are made up so why in gods name are real bullets any where on the set?….This has happened a couple of times already and I find it absolutely reprehensible, insane and ridiculous that real bullets is on a set so that we have a repetition of this kind of senseless death.😢
I'm just glad he wasn't disarming a nuclear weapon in the scene.
Yeah, but AB claiming he didn’t pull the trigger was an insult to our intelligence!
Not Baldwins fault. Who was in charge of the set/film props/weapons
You gotta be kidding me. Seriously!? But is anyone really surprised though?
Wow what a joke, prosecutors should resign.
he should never have been charged to start with
Why? It was an accident, caused by the person who loaded a prop gun with live rounds, handed it to Baldwin and told him they were full of blanks. The actual person responsible has already been punished
This case has been a gong show from the get go…
Alec is not the prop master.
She’s an appointed special prosecutor. She’s normally a defense attorney. Isn’t that so much worse? She knows better. She’s just evil.
This situation was downright heartbreaking all around.
Baldwin is a narcissistic man that got away with murder
RIP Halyna Hutchins 🕊
@@Dee038
May she rest in peace, and her family get consolation from The Divine.
I feel as if she didn’t want Baldwin to go through this.
This should have been a civil case at the worst... It was not intentional.
Agree...but people love to waste time AND money. Civil case...yes.
I couldn’t see how charges were even brought against Baldwin. If someone works on your breaks and it’s proven they are negligent in the repair they are responsible for any result of driving said car, not the driver
Finally, a Judge that follows the rule of law. Good for her. I never thought this man should have been on trial for the tragedy in the first place.
Why should he have not been on trial? He pulled the trigger. First rule of firearms safety is always treat the gun as if it is loaded.
Alec Baldwin as a person should probably not have been charged but his production company should. He is still a good deal responsible for the outcome.
Lol Trump supporters are so mad right now
@@wilhelm4321 Oh geez, you can't be serious. That's the first thing that comes to your mind? Because that's pretty sad.
@@user-mp9rd4hg8b That is the reason this mess went to trial.
Law student here. The judge dismissed this case with prejudice, which means it’s permanently over and cannot be brought back to court. Dismissing WITHOUT prejudice means it’s dismissed for now but can be brought back to court later.
Like it says in the description.
Jeopardy was explicitly attached. Let's hope the court of public opinion frees him as well.
PAID OFF
Thankyou!
True crime people here. We KNOW 🙄
This case should have never been brought to court. Too bad he can't sue the prosecutor for bringing false charges, knowing they had evidence that could exonerate.
Always trust the State? Just another example of why they must earn our trust.
A downright SHAMMMMM, thank goodness for the law of sensibility.
Supreme Court judges needs to be removed and reeducated by this judge 👍👍👍👏👏👏
NOW!
here's already an impeachment going against Thomas.
The supreme court good. Just stop being a pervert. Better still close ur damn legs.
Those six judges don't belong on the bench at all.
Only the ones who are trying to destroy America and push their beliefs unto others
I always thought it was wrong to try and blame or prosecute Mr. Baldwin. I'm glad this is over for him and his family, and some closure for the victims' family. RIP to the innocent victim, Ms. Hutchins and comfort to her family 💞💞
I am a little confused what favorable evidence was there in the case against Hutchins?! Obviously he is guilty of negligence as a producer (not as the murderer).
This was the right call. The court has made a great decision
Should never have gone to court - clearly it wasn't Mr. Baldwin's responsibility right from the get go ..... but he had 'the ability to pay' and so they went after him.

What Happened that Day Was Horrible but let's Face it Baldwin didn't Intentionally Kill That Poor Girl.
This is the Judge that should be training all US Judges !!
What a great example!!
she'd make a great judge in SCOTUS. just focusing on the actual LAW.

What a ridiculous case. There should be an investigation on why this ever went forward.
now this makes sense. justice still lives in the USA.
...if you're rich and famous...
Hopefully Mr. Baldwin can now grieve fully. This lethal accident has weighed heavily on his heart.
Grieve for who? The victim he shot or for himself cause he almost went to jail or something for manslaughter.
@@Senoritagata-nu5teYou sound like an angry Trump fan.
Now we get to hear him lecture us gun control. He better not say shit lol
You can tell. He looks like crap. I'm sure all of this has had a horrible effect on him, not only charges that should never have been made but he still wound up killing someone even if it was through no fault of his own.

And the sheriff that when along with hiding evidence? All should be jailed for 2 years and barred from their professions.
His case should have never been brought to court.

Celebrity Justice at its best...once again.
Baldwin should never have been charged. This Judge did this exactly right.
i totally agree
He pulled the trigger didn't he?!
@maxkonig559 not if you're lib
He even said he didn't pull the trigger lol
The New Mexico prosecutors said over and over they will target Baldwin just because he is a celebrity, they HID the very evidence that would exonerate the armorer so they HAD TO HIDE IT in this case as well!
This case should NEVER have gone this far.
Absolutely correct. They just wasted his time and his money. The whole thing was a waste of money. It was something he had no responsibility for.
And you can't even explain why... Too funny. 😂 He go so lucky that he's part of the elite... It was proven in the trial that he was absurdly reckless, after all.
Why because he white so he above the law? Wtf
Because killing a person is ok?
You must not know much about this case. Baldwin was negligent and shot those people. That was never in question. He got off on a technicality tied by speculation alone. No proof. Justice was not and never would be served in this case. He was always going to get off.
😢 that’s really a great judge, thank God for her.
I truly feel like they were trying to set him up. I’m so glad they didn’t get by with it.!
Bravo! It is very rare that judges step up to the plate as the Hon. Mary Sommer has done.
Judge Merchan could learn a thing or two from this judge. Don't you agree?
What are you talking about "very rare". Most judges act with high professional standards most of the time. Very rare is more applicable to those who don't.
I am sure Halyna Hutchins would agree with your commentary. As you know actors are our betters and therefore should not be held accountable for their actions.

If it's a federal case they legally can't. Not sure why because I'm not a lawyer but for whatever reason federal cases don't allow the case to be televised. States ones can (at least in some states)
