Part One: The Child Molester Whose Sex Cult Taught Women Friendship | BEHIND THE BASTARDS
Have you ever heard of a guy named Keith Raniere? You may have heard of his cult, 'NXIVM' which has been in the news a lot lately. In Episode 8, Robert is joined by writer/comedian Anna Salinas (badcomixbyanna, John Baxte) and they discuss Keith Raniere who describes himself as the 'conceptual founder of NXIVM, a group that focuses on the overarching philosophy of companies focusing on increasing joy and ethics in the world.' BUT we now know that is complete crap and NXIVM is actually a creepy sex cult that forced women to brand each other.

There’s a reason the History Channel has produced hundreds of documentaries about Hitler but only a few about Dwight D. Eisenhower. Bad guys (and gals) are eternally fascinating. Behind the Bastards dives in past the Cliffs Notes of the worst humans in history and exposes the bizarre realities of their lives. Listeners will learn about the young adult novels that helped Hitler form his monstrous ideology, the founder of Blackwater’s insane quest to build his own Air Force, the bizarre lives of the sons and daughters of dictators and Saddam Hussein’s side career as a trashy romance novelist.
New episodes twice a week on iHeartRadio.

I love the intro segment where Robert is like "This podcast isn't gonna be about Elon Musk" and like now 5 years later in 2023 there absolutely could and probably should be an episode on him.

I'm just listening to the co-host saying that she was apologizing for him because of tesla and spacex and just like, wow, how quickly we forget that only 5 years ago, Elon Musk could command the respect of a reasonable person.

The difference between sand and soil is just particle size and organic matter. You just need to supply enough water to get the plants started, and add enough compost to slow the infiltration and dissipation of that water.

Yeah, lots of local gods and goddesses got folded in, like Mazu, not to mention some of the prominent female figures in the core Buddha narrative.
Also, Keith's use of this justification almost exactly copies the shit Japanese monks used to justify fucking their underaged male acolytes.

If someone stepped in with their left foot whilst doing a right handed handshake I'd honestly feel more intimidated, as doing so would be very likely to put them in the position of being slightly behind me instead of being comfortably face to face with one another.
I'd have to twist around in order to maintain eye contact and then I'd be off balance.
How on earth would that make me the dominant person in this exchange?

I think the film Robert talks about around 33:40 is "The Man who Planted Trees" which is very sad because that's one of my personal favorite movies. Although while "planting seeds in the desert" is a way to describe it, the landscape of the film is actually a valley of the French alps that's been desiccated by generations of charcoal burning. When the planter in the film, Elzéard Bouffier, starts replanting the trees, their water storage and transpiration properties restore natural water systems of the valley and lead to the rejuvenation of the whole ecosystem.

I am not that shocked about allison mack as she seemed to be in cult stuff,
like caviezel i love in person of interest, gtreat batman type thats so great as character, in sa great series wher the rest of the stuff is great, but not crazy, and amazing grounded scifidean cains superman, love him. It happens.
Also too bad for falling off, lois is great in smallville. And theay even did soft reboot in metropolis having a personally better show there. Also lionel and martha were the best.
Also the best standard for cult media , mighr be the epoch time? Not high bar.
