I'll tell you right now. If you can't read Russian. You're not going to learn Russian. It's just that simple. It takes weeks for someone to be able to read Russian out loud. And years to practice it. Screw grammar. Learning a new language AND following proper grammar is way too difficult. That is what screws people up and they give up. Just memorize words. Make a list of all words that are the most important and memorize them. Around 500 words get's you a basic vocabulary. If you get the grammar wrong, no one cares because they still understand you. After years of practice you can master grammar later. But to learn Russian in 4 hours is impossible! To learn a few words.....sure... I found the most important phrase to learn first in any language is. "I want that please" then you point. Because you can point at places, things, time, you name it. That small phrase get's you places, it get's you tickets, it get's you items, it get's you food! I spent 6 years in Sevastopol, Crimea. Trust me. I know what I'm talking about! It takes years to learn Russian! About 10 years of living in a Russian country to speak excellently. And it doesn't come natural. You MUST try to learn every single day! If I said Stomotologichiskaya and I said it 80 more times. Does that help you if I said it 800 more times. Unless you know WHAT it means then you'll never learn. That's why you have to memorize words and their translation. Just hearing them day in and day out will actually just give you a damn headache if you don't understand anything. And repetition without understanding is bullshit. Repetition doesn't make you understand the meaning unless you learn the translation to something you do understand! BTW that word comes from Latin - Stomotology - meaning the study of the mouth. aka Dentist.....but the word Dentist is also used in Russian.
