Thanks for the history lessons on the Disstons. I found an Ace handsaw that was still being made a few years ago that was worth the money. It had 12 PPI I think so it was more of a finish saw. It has a wooden handle and the cover had instructions for resharpening it. Very nice construction and it has held up well through a lot of use at this point. It could do with a nicer handle so I think I'll touch it up so it fits my hand better. You've probably seen Paul Sellers' video on the topic.
Thanks. I guess I'll keep my father-in-law's old Disston. I had the blade sharpened, then cleaned up the handle and the blade. Still a good saw after 50 plus years.
