Jared was clearly on Spider-Man’s side throughout the game.
Jared was clearly the voice of reason throughout the entire game.
@@artusanctus997 yeah, voice...
Jared was clearly Parker all-along just fucking with him. 🤣🤣🤣
Maybe I am maybe I ain’t you’ll never know
My head cannon is Jonah knows Peter is spider-man, he keeps doing his show because he knows Peter is listening. He’s trying to make him see how his actions could be interpreted differently. He’s trying to keep Peter bettering himself.
In a city where someone gets mugged every 60 seconds, you don't really need to go out of your way to set up crimes to stop
Unless you want to get killed for real by thugs that literally carry rocket launchers every corner of the city, setting them up is the only reasonable plan.
He would if he was a coward and didn't wanna actually risk himself to stop a real crime, but that is a good point
Exactly dude
I mean if you're getting mugged every 60 seconds where you live you should probably just move.
I read this and immediately thought of this line:
"Welcome to New York, pal. It sucks to hell and pretty much everywhere stinks with somebody's piss. But hey, there's not much we can do about it, really. Everyone just deals with it and goes about their day. "
If Jameson could find a way to blame Spider-Man for the toilets clogged at the Daily Bugle he would
What makes you so sure he doesn't? 😂
All the toilets were clogged with a web like substance.
There were spiders in the toilets and they all worked for Spider-Man!
Better yet, it was him. Peter ate Mexican food the previous night.

The only point J.J.J makes in this game that is justifiable is how Spider-Man's presence invites the appearance of supervillains because he challenges criminal convention.
honestly, that point doesn't even make sense in comics, cause not like SM is the only hero. Dude is in NYC, it's like Super Hero central
so while SM may influence some villains, plenty of Super Villains in NYC that have nothing to do with him
This point only sorta works in series where other heroes/villains either don't exist or are ignored for the sake of the story being told
@@stevesmith1383 Sure, NYC is superhero central, but the comment he makes about Spider-Man creating the likes of Electro and Rhino is at least tenable. I'm not saying it's completely infallible, but it's the most logical thing he says in the game.
How can Spider-Man possibly be responsible for some idiot's choice to be evil?
@@raijyn2452 In reality, he’s not. However, a case can be made that his presence upsets criminal convention such that criminals will seek to augment themselves to fight him.
@@raijyn2452 Spider-Man constantly challenging crime caused crime to evolve to fight him. It's not his fault but in some cases he was definitely a catalyst for them. He does however actively try to stop them so it's not like he ignores his responsibility in it
This is actually one of the few points against Spiderman that JJJ makes that I find completely illogical. How does he think Spiderman can just arrange every single minor crime he stops? And why would the criminals willingly agree to get beat up and arrested?
You got a good point there in questioning why a gang of goons would ever help a crime fighter by getting themselves averted in their kidnapping scheme. I totally think that Jameson, as far as his “truth deliverance” goes, is a loud-mouthed narcissist who believes the only person in New York who is truly a hero is him. I even think it’s always been about him.
He could’ve just keep bringing news to the public about what’s really truly happening in a world where heroes who use their abilties to defend the innocent and villains who use theirs for personal gain. But he lets his jealousy, his obsession with ruining Spider-Man, and his yellow journalistic instincts get the better of him. You don’t need nor have to wear a cape to be a hero, it’s the good deeds in whatever part you play that counts.
No no you got it wrong
The logic behind it is
That spider man not as the hero, Peter he gave them the plan and offered them payment then they do it but spider man stop and he don't have to pay them since they didn't successfully kidnapped him
So JJJ his some logic
@@nawafxgames746 That could’ve made a valid point on Jameson's part. But that’s not the kind person Peter Parker will ever be. If he did pay the thugs to help him (Spider-Man) in that staged kidnapping scheme, that would’ve given Jameson a huge reason to paint him as a con-artist if the thugs sold him out in a police interrogation. From what I remember from reading the original comics, Peter began working for the Daily Bugle to help Aunt May pay the bills and then provide for himself and her financially. And don’t get me wrong, while it’s unethical to take pictures of himself as Spider-Man to earn payments, he at least does this for very good and unselfish reasons.
@@spideybrez1299 everybody knows that not how spider man is
I was simply explaining JJJ's logic
@@nawafxgames746 I understand the logic. I’m just sharing my point about honest and true journalism coming with evidence about any certain topic versus stories mixed up with slander, libel, and any other kind of lie. Until we find out the true story, we can’t believe everything we hear, read, and watch on news.
So I got into comics by buying a Spiderman Encyclopedia at the Scholastic Bookfair in 4th grade, and the JJ backstory I got is one that is never really touched on in favor of being a joke that picks on Spider-Man.
Basically, in JJ's early days as a reporter, he followed a costumed vigilante who would stop bank robberies and kidnappings. Eventually, his skills lead him down tracking a criminal that met with the costumed vigilante, where he learned it was all staged so that the vigilante could get fame on top of the illegal cash. This lead to an immense distrust in vigilante's, and usually insisting they have ulterior motives.
Damn.... as many Spider-Man comics I've read I never knew that. It does paint him in a better light because, yes its possible that a Superhero could quite easily stage their crimes as that type of story has been done before multiple times. It does stand to reason why he thinks so negativity of Superheroes, especially Spider-Man
I'm pretty sure JJs motivation gets constantly retconned anyway, so it doesn't mean much.
@@ryno4ever433 I'm glad you said that because I definitely remember something different. JJ's wife was killed by a burglar and refuses to trust people on masks. Something like that.
And in the very first comics, he hated Spider-Man because JJJ was only interested in making money, but Spider-Man does what he does without any thought of reward. So the only way JJJ can feel better about himself is knocking Spider-Man down a few pegs, because he can't measure up to the kind of man Spider-Man is.

Jokes aside, Jonah does have times where he makes a good point.
Funnily enough, those are times when he's *not* talking about spider-man.

He's only justifiable once. He makes another point about Spider-Man ignoring constitutional rights, but his relationship with the NYPD is a positive one, so the police do work with him pretty closely.

One of my favorite parts about this game is when it starts Jameson is doing his usual Spider-Menace rant, but as the game goes on and the situation escalates he starts to actually make a lot of sense and is actually stating facts.
Yeah, his whole beginning speel about Kingpin's arrest leading to a power vacuum was absolutely correct. At the end of the day, he a lunatic that cares for his city and fellow New Yorkers... save for Spider Man of course
Well, not really. He does make a good point when he suggests that Kingpin's absence would create a power vacuum, though. Otherwise, his needless vitriolic attacks on Spider-Man are unfounded. He's really just jealous because he talks about wishing he had gained those powers instead.
@@artusanctus997 He makes a lot of reports about the demons and their terrorism of Martin Li without making it about Spider-Man.
Yeah, as much as he hates Spider-Man, Jameson *loves* New York. He loves the City and he loves the people that make up the City, even if he's happy to be a grouch. He hates what hurts his city--he just happens to blame Spider-Man for hurting the City instead of helping it.

Best one is when he talks about Rhino almost breaking out of prison and they say he’s been moved to a more secure cell and he goes “isn’t the point of super max prisons that there is nothing more secure? He’s a 2 thousand pound man with an indestructible horn, if there’s a more secure cell WHY WASNT HE IN IT?!”
I mean, there are reasons one could argue why Rhino wasn't in the ultra secure cell yet. It's not like we know exactly how the Raft is operating.
Firstly, the ultra secure cell may not have been constructed yet or wasn't suitable for Rhino or even inhumane at first. Imagine if the cell was, I don't know, some really painful and agonizing series of electric shocks. You could argue that putting Rhino into that was inhumane or that Rhino doesn't deserve that or that it was designed for people smaller than Rhino so a bigger version for Rhino is being built and tested first.
Or Secondly, it's the same Cell and the Raft is just saying it's more secure as a PR Move. The issue wasn't the cell itself but whatever caused Rhino to be able to break out. So to blame the cell is kinda reductive. It's like if in Batman Arkham Asylum, someone complained why x villain wasn't put into maximum isolation. "IF I PAID YOU, I'D CUT YOUR SALARY IN HALF ! *THINK,* JARED ! *THINK !"*
One good point JJJ makes against Spider-Man in the comics is that he can't be properly identified because of his costume. At one point a Spider-Man look alike started robbing banks and for a while police didn't know how to respond to Spiderman showing up because they could never identify if he's the real spiderman and with so many conflicting hearsay on his character their standard response was arrest or shoot on sight, making his appearance during already hectic crime or emergency situations even more manic.

Crime doesn't just stop happening if Spider-Man isn't there to witness it, yet we experience the game through Spider-Man's point of view. There could be any number of other crimes happening and we'd never know.
The same is also true for the comics, movies, television shows, etc. We experience everything through the hero's perspective.
@@VioletAeonSnowfield Oh yeah that’s true, There is a lot of crime that didn’t get reported to the police that Spider-Man wouldn’t know about

Yes, a very good point. Spider-Man gets glory, and the crooks get beaten up and thrown in jail. A good trade off and a win win for everybody.
I'm surprised he still has a job.
Jameson's the real menace when you think about it. He even bankrolled Scorpion's creation once. Not to mention there was the time he put a bounty on Spiderman.
I really don’t understand this whole “Jonah is an asshole to everyone and makes up stuff about Spider-Man” characterization. What happened to the guy that would willingly risk his life to save Peter?
Jameson has evolved through the years, he used to be an asshole who would help people, but now he representz a more cold hearted businessman. hes a charicature of two stereotypes: the cold hearted businessman who doesnt care about his employees and only wants to make money (given the self promos and the constant abuse of privacy laws, basically turning into the papparazzi in NWH, and the mistreatment of Jared and in this game), and the blatant liar of a politician, who refuses to even consider another point of view and talks over people, twisting their words to mean what they want them to
JJJ represents what everyones frustrated with, but in a comedic way that we can have fun with
He is still there. I feel like Jameson had the most mild version of Lex Luthor ism. Where the being is too strong and you have to be the one to stop them before it's too late. We all know spiderman is good but to Jameson he's a vigilante with unnatural powers who if he wanted to could could crush anyone like a bug. But when it comes to his employees Jonah is a typical 1920s asshole boss. He still does care for people I m the podcasts.
I preferred his backstory from the 1994 animated series. That version of the character came off as a hard-ass, but he was a good man who was willing to do anything it took to exonerate a friend. He paid for Peter's wedding in full (even though that Mary Jane was a clone), and he resumed his mantle as an investigative reporter to help Robbie after he got into trouble. He also paid Matt Murdock to represent Peter after he was framed by Fisk for being a traitor to his country. That version of the character was intelligent and was willing to accept when he was wrong. He does acquiesce to Spider-Man on some occasions when it turns out the villain is a genuine nutcase as in Scorpion. It's just that he has a trauma with people wearing masks. He looks at Spider-Man and sees someone who will do bad things even though Spider-Man is a hero.
There was actually one time in this game where he actually made a good point.
“We just got word the the rhino almost escaped the raft. The authority’s have said that they are now keeping him in a stronger cell. He is a man with a robotic suit and a indestructible horn. IF THERE WAS A STRONGER CELL, WHY WAS HE NOT ALREADY IN ITS?!?!”

Jonah: *"FUCK YOU CHICKENSHIT INDOCTRINATED MOTHERFUCKERS!!!"*
To be fair most of the villains Peter has to deal with only showed up until after he became Spider-Man. It doesn’t prove anything but that’s probably JJJ’s thought process lol.
For once, I think they BOTH make pretty good points.
Yes, JJJ makes a good point, and some people would even have the motivation to do so if they had his powers. But the lady he was talking to also has a good point that that'd be even more effort than actually saving people. You'd need to be a pretty specific kind of person to see scamming people in that specific way as worth it. And that's only talking about this particular case, let alone all the other crimes he stops on a regular basis that he'd have to take the time to arrange. It'd be the one thing to commit to that would actually be *more work* than just being the Spider-Man people think you are.
I don't know that anyone would try and do that with those powers?
I mean, if you had powers that revolved around mind control, that would be one thing; but Spider-man's powers? No one would try and set up crimes to stop. Especially not in New York, that's just wasted efforts.
More importantly, what criminals would ever go along with that idea? They were beat up and then handed over to the cops by the one that supposedly organized the crime. For what? They get nothing out of the whole exchange.
@@VioletAeonSnowfield Well you'd definitely need to be someone with a tremendously large and fragile ego, and there are quite a few of those in the Marvel multiverse. Ones with a lot of time on their hands and lots of motivation to do strange things with it.
In terms of being in a city like New York, that'd just making the set-up more believable, while real crime would still be harder to fight than arranged crime.
As for getting criminals to agree with it, if you're already scamming people and all that, you could probably pay off some cops or just pay actors with loose moral compasses to play fake cops convincingly. Then it all falls together and those criminals get to run home free after that, probably paid well for their efforts.
And, of course, none of this is actually practical. But to continue from a previous point, there are a lot of villains around who would prioritize creative flair over practicality. I don't think this is much of a stretch at all, in the long run.
The big flaw with JJJ's argument here is that Spider-Man has been active for over 8 years by this point.
Firstly, Like, even if we assume that yes, somehow Spider-Man was setting up these situations to make himself look good, wouldn't someone leak the details eventually over 8 years? Wouldn't some random criminal decide to get some fame by walking up to JJJ and spilling the details on how Spider-Man does it? Wouldn't someone like Yuri pick up that her corrupt cops are dealing with Spider-Man for this and fire them because of it and then issue a manhunt out for Spider-Man?
Like after 8 years, JJJ doesn't have even the slightest proof that Spider-Man is doing this.
Secondly, why would Spider-Man spent 8 years setting up these fake scenarios, then go and do real scenarios against real Supervillains? Are the Supervillains in on it too? Is Scorpion, the villain JJJ himself made to go against Spider-Man in on it with Spider-Man? Why do none of these villains then say "Hey, Spider-Man and I working together" in order to get less punishment?

“If I paid you I’d cut your salary in half”
That is the most J. Jonah Jameson line ever
The movies will always put J.K. Simmons in my head whenever I think of JJJ, but Darin De Paul is definitely a close second.
He really managed to capture the gruffness trademarked by Simmons' portrayals, but it doesn't feel like a copy. De Paul has his own style that I think works great for the role
He should have said that in spider man miles morales because you can literally just use miles spider man app to cause a crime
You don't use the app on that game to cause crimes. It's the crimes that's being reported to the app....
@@jaysteele6356 I think that was the point OP was trying to make. Miles could've text someone to stage a kidnapping, report it to the app, then Miles can swing in and save the day.
@@tylerwilson3507 What would be the point of that? That's dishonest. Miles wants to emulate Peter. Peter is an honest guy as a superhero.
This is a great example of maybe my only real problem with Spider-Man PS4. They nailed the characterization of every character... except J.J. Jameson, imo.
The impression I always had of J.J. was that he was a great journalist with a huge amount of integrity, who just, for one reason or another, thought Spider-Man was a villain and not a hero. And, the major point of the relationship between Jameson and Spider-man was that Jameson didn't NEED to make shit up to blame Spidey on. That, devoid of proper context, it's really easy to make a hero look like a villain.
This J.J. kinda throws that up in the air. He's always making up excuses for why this thing could have been "Spider-Man's plan all along" even when he's clearly reaching, like he is here. He rarely reports on real facts, and seems like a little tiny bit of a blowhard.
The best J.J.J. scene in film (objectively) is the one in Spider-Man 2, where Dock Ock is holding him in mid-air, asking him about Spider-Man. Peter Parker is right there, hiding behind a desk, and J.J. looks Dock Ock straight in the face and says, "I don't know where the pictures come from, they come in anonymously by mail."
J. Jonah Jameson is a hard-ass, a bit of a prick, but when it comes down to it he is a strictly moral man with very strong convictions. And I don't think they nailed the kinder aspects of his character here, focusing entirely on his vendetta with Spider-Man, and I think that's a shame.
Pretty sure the scene was from Spider-man 1 with Goblin, I could be wrong though
Jonah is the kind of journalist the boys universe needs
I swear when Danika called him out on his bullshit in Miles Morales I hollered with joy because someone finally said it in game
I have SO got to actually play that game...
I'm waiting for it to get on PC first though.
@@immortalfrieza it's amazing, I personally like it better than the original
@@kingjb554 Amazing huh? Would you say it's Spectacular?
On another note, just Miles Morales' appearances in this game ended up redeeming the character for me long before Into The Multiverse. He went from his origin as an obvious Political Correctness PR stunt (the same stunt they later pulled with Falcon and Female Thor) to a character actually worthy of being Spider-Man's successor on his own merits.
@@immortalfrieza No he's not lmao what a reach. He's just Peter Darker and that's all he'll ever be
No matter which Spiderman games I'll always stop and listen to JJJ podcast pops up lol
The only episode of his podcast that was hella messed up was at the end of the game , he was talking bout causalities and lost loved ones and said Spider-Man didn’t have any loved ones. Meanwhile the casualties was lowered because Peter had to save the anti serum to be mass produced instead of using it on aunt may to save her
The day jjj Discovers all the things spider lost to save new york ass he gonna develop depression
Jarred is the unsung hero of these games😂
JJJ can only be praised here for his imagination.
Question: how do we usually determine a scenario that could be explained in multiple ways?
Answer: Occam’s Razor.
We have a woman claiming Spider-Man did what he does. He rescued a citizen in trouble and protected him against the kidnappers. (This is what most likely occurred & it doesn’t take mental gymnastics to reach this conclusion)
We have JJJJ claiming it was all set up through carefully coordinated planning with the kidnappers. Kidnappers take the citizen, then the “play” begins, all just so Spider-Man could look good. (This is possible, but highly improbable. We’d need proof or it sounds too biased to be believed.)
Without evidence, we should assume the scenario with the least amount of steps, the woman’s.
The sheer *power* in how Jonah shouted Jared’s name made _me_ scared for my job
The one good point I remember Jameson making is the one about the Rhino on the Raft. Paraphrasing, but it was something along the lines of:
“He has since been recaptured, and we’re told they’re moving him to a more secure holding cell. Folks, this is a giant cybernetically enhanced super criminal capable of smashing through multiple solid brick walls with one punch. IF THERE’S A MORE SECURE HOLDING CELL, WHY WASN’T HE ALREADY IN IT?!”
"IF I PAID YOU, I'D CUT YOUR SALARY IN HALF"
Bro 💀
JJ Jameson is the perfect example of fake news..
JJ was spreading fake news before it was cool...
That's sad, the character of Jameson was an actual Journalist, but was so distrusting of Spider-Man (because he saw him as a stuntman looking for thrills and not for heroism, given Peter first used his powers for stunt shows) he'd never admit he did good, but then other writers came, and slowly he became just a joke character that lies on everything. The closest we were to this version again was Chip Zdarsky's "My dinner with J. Jonah Jameson".
Oh Jameson, it’s moments like these that make us question your sanity.
JJJ just sounds like chuck when he knows how jimmy plans his schemes.
I think old Jigsaw Jamson knew Peter Parker was Spiderman all along, and he and Peter would act out this rivalry so that Jameson could sell papers and Peter could get money from the photos. Now every time this up-and-comer has to meet an actual Superhero, he can play the poor martyred catholic angle (that would work well on Captain America) and get in good with the avengers. and because Spiderman is so reviled, he can keep boundaries between Peter and Spiderman and say he cant share his secret identity, (great way to tell girls why you can't go exclusive, or guys, so you can hook up and say you cant have a commitment "it is too much for you") besides how do you stand out as a superhero if every superheroe gets good press, it all gets lost in the noise. Get them to hear unsubstantiated rumors about a hero, get a debate going if he is a Hero, two sides of a debate, That's how you get buzz and become the most talked about, Peter does work at a Newspaper, this spider might have a talent at weaving public relation strategies
Spider-Man standing there and just thinking
Spider-Man:Hmmmm seems like a good idea
"J. Jonah Jameson makes a good point actually"
Wtf no he doesn't
Yeah right especially when you are playing as spiderman so you know for a fact that his point is complete bullcrap
This is why I JJJ he'll literally find the stupidest excuse to make Spider-Man a menace😂😂😂😂😂.
the only time I was ever on Jonah’s side was when he was talking about the rhino R.A.F.T escape, he said something about how he’s been contained and put in a more secure cell, and if there was a more secure cell, why wasn’t he there in the first place?
And that point is what exactly?
The Cuban Crusher sounds more like J. Jonah Jameson as each day passes
Oh boy, here we go, so for how much parts are you gonna milk this?

@@OgBigNut I mean, should it REALLY become a complete and confusing storyline? We already have the Arkham thug conversations and Joker making good points actually.

Tucker Carlson would give Jameson a solid challenge for “Worst ‘Journalist’ Ever.” And in both cases, I am using some absolutely massive air quotes.

An actual good point he makes is when the one about rhino nearly escaping the raft and that he was put in a stronger cell and he says why wasn’t he in it to begin with

Anyone remember that lady who called and said she got out of the shower when Spider-man passed by (though it was her fault for being out in the open for him to see that while he was just swinging lol) and JJJ said "A WEBBED PERVERT IS AMONG US!"

Hoping they adapt Zdarsky's Dinnertime at Jonah's arc. Not only is it incredibly wholesome and emotional, it's also one of the biggest growth JJ has ever gone through as a character imo. And it leads to some hilarious shit on top of that.
