Showdown Mode + Avenger + Striker + STAB Axe Kick on Lokix is something you don't want to get hit by (and yes, in this ROM Hack the move in question is Dark, not Fighting)
Absorbent and Fungal Infection are nuts. Being able to just use a single contact move and set up leech seed on mons normally immune to leech seed as a move is incredible for longevity.
I wouldn't say it's exactly a broken ability, since the main thing with it is very situational, but Perfectionist is amazing. Especially Perfectionist Cincinno with Loaded Dice. Now, it's a bit of a one-trick pony, but boy is it an impressive trick. Ice, Rock, and Grass coverage base 150/187.5 power with priority and 4-5 high crit chances and a base 225/281.25 Normal Type Priority with 4-5 high crit chances? It can't really take a hit but do you really need to with that much sturdy/sash-popping priority power?
don't know if anyone has mentioned this but, meteor beam(+1 special attack on the first turn and attacks on the second turn)+ accelerate(2turn moves become 1 turn) on glimora and omanyte is busted
battle armor is another contender, that 20% less damage combined with it being put o pokemon what really shouldn't have it (corviknight) means that if you have recovery + a defensive boosting move like calm mind or bulk up you can just sit in front of a pokemon and +6 to sweep (corviknight gets bulk up agility power trip and roost it's disgusting) another one is pressure what casts a haze what only effects positive stat boosts on switch in + keeping it's original effect it can be great for shutting down an attempted sweep and swinging momentum back in your favour(and of course corviknight gets it as if it wasn't busted enough) coward is also amazing, free protect on switch in, can be used either for a free setup turn (for example i used wugtrio against Watson to remove rain) it can be used to make the pokemon a great lead to pivot out depending on what the opponent has or it can be used mid battle for a guarentted free switch in
Agreed, these abilities are all great, although I haven't used Mega Garchomp Redux myself yet. I just wish there were a few more Pokémon with Impulse. We only have two and Kilowattrel works better with Air Blower as its ability, leaving only Iron Bundle.
Have you ever tried lunala? it has lunar eclipse, which ads STAB to dark and fairy and makes hypnosis 90% accuracy, shadow shield, which is also pretty good, and Dream catcher, which doubles move damage if something is asleep on the battle field, so hypnosis + dream eater=broken
No mention of the absolute defensive monster that is Dewgong on the North Wind section? Thing has mega level stalling abilities and can just flip turn out to support
The thing with Emerald ER is that it feels like a hypothertical worst case senario of pokemon Powercreep I get thats the point, but damn, big leaves+ 3 other abilities seems like overdoing it
I'm near to end my last game in the previous version of elite redux, i caught all pokemon that appear and got all the megas, to make the best team i could I almost filled all boxes. And i noticed that i didn't use eelektross right on my first playthrough It can use zap cannon and hydropump with 100% accuracy, and i can use shock wave if i need priority
@MegaFidough Where can I find a full list of the new abilities? I don’t have a way of playing the game so I wanted to know if there’s a way outside of getting the game
Yeah, and aslo, i don't know if it was fixed, but the trainer that gives you the megastone, her grandbull doesn't have the megastone, it doesn't have any item
Four abilities is enough! Yet many of these abilities are actually many abilities in one. Why would you smush multiple abilities into one slot if you have 4 ability slots?
Great list mate One problem İ wouldn't say equinox makes to this list Equinox if anything is a burden to some mons like mega Infernape who is One of the weaker megas in the game
How these abilities are in practice: Yeah…. Big leaves has an infamous history. Yes right now the likes of leafeon and mega sceptile are contentious on sun enough, and even the latter Likely has some draws outside of sun due to the ability including chloroplast. But the most infamous part of the ability is actually 1.6 leafeon, back when it has feline prowess. It was so strong with solar power, feline prowess, and even grassy surge that it’s solar beams pressured even chansey, and it had much better coverage on that side, including earth power to shatter heatran, something it can’t do now. Volcano Rage in practice unfortunately is held back by being on niche mons. Volcano rage+blazing soul typh seems like a strong mon… until you realize that it’s a full hp reliant mon that can’t even hold boots to avoid rocks, making that entire aspect effectively useless. Entei actually can abuse it due to being able to run boots, but it essentially is the rr typhlosion of er: it looks strong and it would destroy newer players, but in higher levels it would NOT get anywhere. There is GOOD reason why redux zam only gets minion control, and even then, 6 potential hits on a mon that fast and strong makes mega redux zam banned from Ubers, tho tbh it didn’t even need that ability to do that considering it’s coverage. The concept of momentum and impulse are so good. Shame that the two best mons to abuse them are getting axed instantly. Mega bat was already on it’s way out due to spectralize, amplifier boomburst boosted by nasty plot, and momentum seals the deal by fixing the problem with it’s physical sets: the lack of boosting behind them, thus making them equally viable and even more dangerous since those sets have entirely different counters. Meanwhile bundle has it’s usual traits, only now impulse gives it effectively a shell smash in the form of agility. Also a misconception fidough makes here: impulse isn’t just for special attacks, it is for ALL moves that don’t make contact. Which includes physical moves that don’t make contact. So for instance, you can run secret power fighting on bundle (secret power is physical hidden power now), and since it isn’t contact, it would also go off the speed stat as well, meaning it can run that to ruin mons like blissey It would be much more apparent if this was a ranking list, but you are underselling the power of north wind. The ability legit bends entire tiers to the whims of whatever has it, two particular offenders are an example of this: dewgong and suicune. The former got banned to Ubers due to not just it’s absurd bulk in whichever side it feels like, but also it was perfect in supporting it’s team via flip turn to spread the fun around, now it’s in Ubers and doing the exact same thing to the exact same effect. Meanwhile suicune took it’s place in ou and does the exact same thing, only it has teleport instead to do it, and due to it’s absurd bulk and recover, it just keeps supporting it’s team again and again and again. Yeah cheating death is conceptually broken. If it was on a mon that couldn’t fully abuse having 2 free turns, then it’d likely be tolerable. But it’s on a 120 attack 110 speed monster with tinted lens and adaptability alongside sd and generally great stabs. The mon is ag instantly. Showdown is just funny, because it’s so strong that it had to have tinted lens removed, effectively stripping it of its old identity, just to make it balanced. In a beta version it actually still had tinted lens, and that DEFINITELY wasn’t broken. Unrelated Fun fact: while lokix lost tinted lens, nymble kept it. Granted it wouldn’t amount to much in lokix’s vain, and it only gets violent rush, but what it DOES do is make sure it will never see the light of day in lc, since the lack of ANY safe first impression and u-turn switch ins in the tier will get it quick banned. Primal armor on the legendaries actually doesn’t matter much, they usually are so bulky that they could have lived the super effective hits anyway, or the tier is so strong that they get overpowered via neutral or even resisted hits, for instance xerneas can VERY easily overwhelm even the bulkiest pdon with +2 pixelate fairy aura boomburst. The steel megas however definitely do matter, aggron got banned due to being effectively unkillable due to that an impenetrable, while also hitting deceptively hard due to juggernaut, while steelix is equally bulky, but due to having more sources of “weaknesses” alongside not hitting nearly as hard, make it fine in the tier. Tbh haunting frenzy in tandem with hyper aggresive may actually get this thing banned for being an uncompetitive monster. Sure even with 2 hits the chance isn’t much, but to give an example, Durant had a lower flinch chance with iron head, even more so when factoring hustle accuracy, and it was still controversial in gen 5 ru. And on a mon this fast, strong, and threatening to end games on the spot, it definitely would be overbearing. Equinox has a similar problem to momentum and impulse: the best abusers are those that are likely WELL on their way out. Roaring moon becomes utterly lunatic with not only its access to equinox Draco meteors, but it can’t even be blocked by fairies due to overwhelm. Meanwhile long reach boosted fleur cannons in iron valiant become utterly monstrous due to gallantry giving it a free turn, an ability you should NOT give to a mon that by all means should not get a free turn.
Good day Fidough, so, i'm starting a challenge in pokemon ER of only using the pokemons that i have access in Route 1, but since this is my first time playing through the game, i don't really know which mons would consist my main team, could you help me with that? My options: Zigzagoon Poochyena Wurple Ponita Zorua Sewaddle Fidough Bonsly Lillipupp Rockruff Audino(i'm planning to use this one because as far as i know this is my only mega and best defensive mon that i have access in this challenge)
Shuckle can literally set up at least one of either SR or Webs for free because it gets access to Coward. Afterwards, it's bulk can allow it to either set up another and/or a Toxic/infestation. Add in a Rocky Helmet and protect stalling to rack up extra damage and you have a pokemon that can support it's team while also taking out whatever they lead with. Clodsire is also pretty good. It has a physical defense buff making it equally tanky on both sides, and it gets access to Toxic Debris. You can also get Paldean Wooper as soon as the first gym.
