Love the ocean views. Well from my time in the Marines a Ship is a large or bigger (hundreds of feet long) vessel used for transporting people and cargo. Boats are smaller vessels (under 100 feet) that you can use for recreational purposes, but Subs are considered boats from their origins. Then you have Yachts which sit in between boats and ships (50 ft to 200 ft long) with some cross over. Licensing to operate has also played a part in what vessels are called. That is what I can remember anyways.
