Very nice.especially liked the clean middle position.but kick could make a bucket,a broom handle, and a rope sound great.

Interesting that it does not have an ebony board. Still a super guitar.

No ebony until 2019 again . Rather rosewood then richlite on the previous 355s....

I’d say hold off until the new 2020 models that get that ebony fingerboard again or try to find one of those 1990 Nashville ones. You get a 355 for those deluxe features. Yes, rosewood is just as fine but ebony feels so great.

Funny, I'm still waiting for that 2020 release, never saw one but an ebony fretboard would be great.

@@henrygascon9106 they’re out there now but black, natural, and a really aged cherry are the only options. I haven’t seen a cherry version yet just the aged watermelon color for the 355

@@henrygascon9106 yeah check online I’ve seen a bunch up online. Make sure you’re happy with the type of cherry you’re looking for. There’s the normal cherry like in this vid, but then there’s faded cherry and extremely faded cherry like the Murphy labs is selling right now.

@@yestoES355 thanks for the tip! Leaning on a 355 "60s cherry." Will take a look at Murphy Labs. Cheers

A 355 is probably my favourite guitfiddle from the Gibson line, but I just can't get on with a rosewood board on one. There's literally no reason to get one over a 335 or a 345, the whole point was to be the most opulent option with that fast ebony board.
Taylor will give you a real ebony board on their "baby" line, but Gibson can't find it on a guitar costing thousands? Nonsense.

Yes I'm aware of that video, though being published six years ago I'm not sure how the situation has changed as despite the cries about ebony running out, people still find it.
Take Eastman for example, you can get ebony on their semi-hollows for around $1500. Or the Seventy Seven Exrubato Custom for $2500. As well as a host of independent luthiers who will offer it as an option.
The ES-355 has always been a limited run guitar so it's not like they need an ebony plantation, and the cost of the guitar should more than cover the cost of the wood. If Gibson can't offer it to proper spec, why offer it at all.
