I have Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite on PS3, I have all 3 on PC and I just ordered this for the Switch. This is perfect for playing in bed on a cold rainy day while I lay there like a sea otter.
That’s gay

hahaha same bro sea otters man !!!!

The fact that I can carry a complete console and dozens of games in a small backpack or even a fanny pack makes the switch superior to the other consoles IMO. When I had a stay at the hospital the doctors were very intrigued that I was playing skyrim in my hospital bed.
I remember my high powered laptop struggling to run Bioshock when it first launched, and now we have a handheld console that looks and runs far better.
The beauty of the switch. Makes me wonder if Valve is hard at work on some type of handheld steam machine
well its because the graphics are downscaled somewhat. The handheld doesnt have much in the way of specs for the modern age, although it is slightly better than a top of the line phone :P BUt yah. I remember those days of struggling to get games to play :P
We now live in times where something like the switch (that has more power than a PS3 oder Xbox360 and all this technology in a mobile handheld formfactor) is already a 4 year old system that uses a 6 year old graphics chip.. Technology is progressing rapidly.
The Switch is just a glorified hybrid tablet handheld that really isn’t any different than any 2GB iOS device from 2015-2017. Like the Vita, most people don’t care to make a lot of AAA games for it as it’s a big risk to port a game that won’t make as much money as it would on Console/Pc(i mean a few die hard fans would pay 20-30$ for a game but not many)
@@Jwatchdizzledrip3003 I agree, the Switch is basically a Tablet. That doesn't take away from what it does.
I never tried the Vita, so can't comment on it.
People don’t need to constantly be reminded they can buy games elsewhere with “better graphics and performance”. We’re all permanently aware. Not a review goes by where people don’t mention that. Imagine if every single PS4 game review was like “ya is great BUT you can buy cheaper on PC with better graphics on X1X or on Switch with portability, but if you’re ok with a version that isn’t best at anything it’s fine”. Sounds absurd, yet that’s what every single Switch review sounds like.
THANK YOU!
Ikr, it’s like just tell us if it’s good on the switch cause we buy the games for portability
I know right
It's cause the Switch kinda sucks when it comes to graphical ability and the graphics on X1X really aren't much different from the PS4 pro.
Lol seriously
I remember two years ago when I bought my Switch and I imagined how awesome it would be if they'd port Bioshock to Switch... fast forward to the shit-show that is 2020 and FINALLY getting not just Bioshock but the entire collection is a dream come true. And now Alex is doing the review... it all seems too good to be true. My new favorite word is gubbins btw.
It happened to me when Borderlands port came to Switch.

$19.99 at Best Buy on Black Friday according to the upcoming 2020 ad. Currently, you can score it for $24.99 at a couple of places, but depends if $5 is worth trying for it on the biggest shopping day of the year.
Picked up the physical copy and I'm so glad I did. I've already put a lot of time into 1, about an hour into 2, and a fair bit into Infinite and can definitely say that I'm hooked and for me personally, this is the definitive edition of this collection. I play 99% in handheld (exclusively with a Satisfye gaming grip) and it is just amazing in handheld how beautiful it looks and how well it plays. Also, it is extremely battery efficient and you can play for hours before needing to charge your Switch!
Also I just had to say something about this, you mentioned Digital Extremes was involved in 2?? That is really surprising to hear, as I am also a heavy player of Warframe on my Switch, having just under 2k hours on it, and I didn't know they had worked on anything other than Warframe and Dark Sector ever. Interesting stuff.
Yeah, DE's involvement on Bioshock 2 was pretty surprising. I had mostly known DE for their involvement on the Unreal series at the time, so seeing their logo on Bioshock 2 was pretty neat.
Also, god I remember darkSector. I remember seeing that concept trailer when I was younger, and I remember being blown away by how good it looked.
BRO ITS 2020 AND WE GOT BIOSHOCK PORTABLE COME ON IMAGINE IF YOU TOLD 13 YEAR OLD ME THIS AHHHHH
I know!!! I played this game on the ps4 and I could definitely play it a second time on the switch
A wonderful series that I have finished multiple times! I will probably end up buying this just so I can have it on my switch and I'll most likely finish them again on there too!
I don't have the words to say how much I LOVE these games they are so damn fun.
The remasters are stunning and I actually liked bioshock 2 😶
I just finished it last night! now I'm on infinite
I agree with you. Completed bioshock 1 last week. Working my way through bioshock 2. Both games have run and looked excellent on switch. I also like bioshock 2 👍
The first Bioshock is much better though
I got about 1/3 through before I got sick of all the Bioshock I had been binging so I skipped to infinite and I love it.
It's not a bad game at all. it's just overshadowed by the other two. But all three a good games.
Just bought it last night, I love having it be mobile and having a new reason to replay them again
People are talking about graphics... this game is a masterpiece, with no age.
I swear I saw motion aiming support on BioShock 1 ? I remember testing it for a minute and instantly retreating haha.
30 years ago I got the original grey gameboy for Christmas, this Christmas my lovely wife got me a switch a lite.
I can now play Bioshock mobile ! What a time to be alive 🤙
Also always wanted to play Bioshock but never got around to it. I’m happy to say I purchased this collection. It’s one of the best games I have played on my Switch. I don’t really need the motion controls like I thought I did at first. The younger me played hours upon hours of Goldeneye on the Nintendo 64 got right in the gaming seat and tore that game up. I can’t wait to play the second and third games.
love all the bioshock games. Imagine Dead Space on Switch! Another one of my top game trilogies
Only need 1&2. Part 3 was terrible
Best Switch collection so far !!! Played the Originals on Xbox360 and PC in the good old day's of Story driven singleplayer FPS. IT feels like coming home 🙂
A must buy in my opinion !!! Great Port
The Collection is currently 10 dollars right now on the Eshop, and each individual game is 8 dollars. For two more bucks you get all three. Only reason not to do that is if you're worried about storage space, but even then just install and play them one at a time. Fantastic trilogy, if you can only play one my personal vote is on 2. The combat is way more fun in the second game compared to the first, and the story feels a lot more personal. Plus you get a sick drill arm that you can eventually upgrade into an even cooler (haha) drill arm, its worth playing just for that
Funny because I’m looking into buying them rn
I got all 3 games and all 3 borderlands for £14. For 6 games! On sale this Xmas/new year. I luckily have an official SanDisk Nintendo 256 GB micro SD card
@@maidenslayer Same!! lmk if you need a party for Coop on borderlands
Thats why I'm watching this video haha
Interesting. Everyone always shits on 2. I’ve always loved it.
Never played Bioshock before I've always been told to play it, and I was watching some older reviews to catch up on your guys's content and happen to come across this one and it's all that the collection was on sale for $10 on the switch so I picked it. Just played through all of the first one based on your recommendation and I absolutely love it.
If anyone was planning on getting the physical release, just keep in mind that you still have to download 2 and Infinite. They are not on the cart. Also, no matter which way you go, the file sizes are massive, so keep that in mind!
Is it a code on a piece of paper, or does it use the cart to authorize download?
@@codyshaffer3962 I don't own it, but I have the impression that it uses the cart. Kinda similar to LA Noire where you put it in and the Switch goes "oh shit, still need to download 27 GB"
I guess to, be fair, you do get to save 12.5 GB of space. However, you still gotta download 32 GB. So, at that point, who cares, ya know?
Alsoalso, all 3 are available separately on the eShop, too.
@Martin Schmidt well if you never like them then why are you even here
1:30 lmao, I see you with that shade.
if i buy the digital collection can i download individually or do i have to buy separately.
im asking cos i read for physical you have to have the cart inserted for all 3. cheers👍
I got borderlands collection physical inserted cart downloaded only borderlands 2 and i can launch without cart......thats back in tha box
I got just Infinite by itself on the Switch and its amazing. Just like the Xbox version. Personally I think it's a beautiful port and they did a great job. I've played Infinite so many times on Xbox but still wanted it for switch so I could have it on the go. And I'm super glad I did
I also just bought the bioshock infinite by itself for my switch haven’t played it yet though
I wanna get this collection but I’m still putting hours into borderlands 2 and I don’t know when to stop.
I will definitely pick this up soon still.
Great review btw.
That game could have you hooked for years man
I remember getting Bioshock 2 for my 360 when I was younger and spent all night playing the game.
@2K "Would you kindly patch in Gyro-Controls"
Currently on sale for $19.99 in the eShop. Haven't played these games before but just purchased them and ready to rock 😀
i remember playing this as a free demo on the Xbox for the first time, im talking red ring of death xbox, and i fell in LOVE with it!...... Even the 2nd one i was very happy with!.... infinite was, for me, just ok... i reserved it and picked it up at midnight..... that was fun
Bioshock 2 is so underrated.
Bought these games 4 times over already and am currently getting ready to go pick up the game on Switch for $29.99 CDN for a physical copy *chefs kiss*
Great review!
I really want to get a Switch to play the games again. The portability aspect really appeals to me.
That bio shock one sneeze lol 😂
Just bought it for switch. Never once played a Bioshock game. Like you mentioned frequently on sale. Got the collection for 20$. Played about 20 minutes and I’m already in love.
Nice. I just picked it up on switch for $9.99 (the collection) and I’ve never played Bioshock before so I’m looking forward to it.
Don't flex
@@Rocket-yc8pj how the hell he flexing lmfao
How did you wind up liking it? I am torn on whether to buy it or not
Two things that I'm annoyed that 2k didn't do. No gyro and they didn't increase the size od the UI. Specifically infinite. The UI there was shrunk and I can barely read the text or see any thing on my tv. Now imagine trying to ready tiny text on the switch screen. I hope 2k patches in gyro aiming and the option to increase the UI in both the switch and ps4 ports
Kevin Vo i think it looks fine
Thanks for this review! It's on sale right now for just over £7.00 in the UK! I only played the first game way back in the day so this'll be fun playing ALL GAMES when downloaded😂
10$ in the u.s. area for the collection
i do agree good single player fps games are kind of rarity, I dont count fps that have multiplayer as one of them as those games have strong multiplayer focus than single player. Bioshock, system shock, 007 games, early halo days, early farcry days, and many shooters from 90s and early 2000s was golden age for single player shooters. These days it seems about multiplayer, looting style, dlc, or something with open world style which beautiful does tend get boring after awhile. I do miss games such as this and others like it.
Multiplayer is focused on more now partially because people actually have internet now lol
Not matter what you play these games on. We can all agree they are incredible games.
I’m enjoying the game but there’s one thing that irritates me incredibly and that’s the diagonal look. Up and down is fine, but moving up and down at the same time seems to create a half speed look and it makes shooting incredibly hard when you’re in a pinch. Outside of that, I’m thoroughly enjoying
Had trouble playing it with a drifting joycon, but now I've bought a pro controller and I haven't been able to stop playing
Pro controllers also "drift"
Eddysonsan I’ve had one for 3 years and have no drift on it, you must’ve gotten a faulty one or something
I’ve given up on my official joy cons now for the same reason. I’ve been using the Hori split pad pro for several months and it’s leaps and bounds better (doesn’t have rumble or gyro and can’t be used when not connected to the switch) but those were fair trade offs for the comfort and longevity. I’d recommend them if you’re not able to enjoy handheld mode because of drift!
I used to play these games on my Box360 back in the day (10 years ago?)
Mad that I can sit on my couch or lay in bed n play em now.
Just ordered. All 3 are classic games.
Playing Bioshock Remastered on Switch now. It’s so good. And such a great port. Amazing in handheld mode! Such an addicting game
I have never gotten into them. What is addictive about it?
Roy Astro not really addicting per se, they just have a really satisfying story and great gameplay. They’re classics
How good are the graphics on switch im considering on getting it on either xbox or switch
Roy Astro the story is awesome and it’s not your standard fps game where you shoot and win. You can use your surroundings to help you defeat your opponent. For example hacking turrets and security alarms to become your minions.
Those of us who game on switch could care less about cutting edge graphics. When we do, we play on PC
Seriously, why do people think people who owns a console doesn’t own a PC, like is there a rule that I can’t have both?
@@letsBrn that’s why I have a PC, I aint about to aim using a controller
Just bought recently for $9.99
great buy if you ask me.
I decided to pick up all 3 on 2K day. I played through the original Bioshock years ago on Xbox and I had not played any of Borderlands... so.. this collection is tantalisingly sitting in my backlog. Your review has only served to raise the level of anticipation a little further. Thanks.
Borderlands is just as amazing. Hope you enjoy that as well.
Should have just played it there instead. No real benefit to play it on the switch. Unless you don't have access to any other version, then go ahead
Dennis Duran Loving it so far...
Well another game series I’ve bought many times. Got 1&2 on the 360, and infinite on pc, got the collection on xbox one, and now picking it up for the switch. Man there’s so many games I’ve bought too many times. Got the witcher 3 on ps4, xbox, pc and switch and outer worlds on xbox, pc, switch and have too many skyrim ports to remember them all and that’s just games I can think of. There’s something about playing games like this on a handheld intrigues me, the switch is very impressive as a handheld not so much as a console hooked to a tv.
Was just about to buy this for the switch but I went with the ps4 version for $11😩
That was a mistake

It really was 😂
bioshock was definitely my favorite shooters during ps3 era. even more than the orange box and far cry games.
Sorry if this was addressed in the video, but can I buy the games individually?
I really want to get infinite and play through it again.
I know it’s not popular opinion but infinite is my favourite game in the series.
Great review mate, I really enjoyed it.
Just got the collection on the switch and its been great, the switch is really cool how you can take it with you i bought the oled and I am very pleased
I Owned Both Bioshock & Bioshock 2 Remastered On Switch And They Both Run Smoothly, But I Find The Control So Struggling To Use, I Had Adjust The Sensitivity All The Time But It Is Still Hard To Aim Down. What Is The Best Sensitivity Control Level? So I Could Aim Ahead Without Any Problems. Have You Recommend Something To Fix This?
Alex's bioshock ranking is the exact opposite of my pikmin ranking. Huh.
They feel so at home on Switch. I love this collection.
How?
Now they need to bring life is strange over to the switch
Good news
Your wish has come true

In other words, yes it’s worth it

I would love to play Bioshock on the Switch but since they didn't put the whole games on the cartridge it's a no from me.
Which ones are on the cartridge ?
@@lildel7698apparently just the first lvls of each game and then youll have to download the rest. But im not 100% sure myself
Im pretty upset they did this as well, buuuuuut, it's not like they're gunna re-release on a full cartridge. So just buy it lmao
The switch is better for just digital anyways cartridges defeat the porpoise of on the go imo for other consoles I’ve been a physical collector but on switch most of my library is digital is worth investing in a high capacity Sd card.
Tempted but hesitant. This isn't usually my kind of game but it being on the switch is very tempting. The price for 3 games despite the sizeable download is a little too good to pass up.
..so there’s no monsters? Just crazy humans? I love fighting monsters (resident evil, dead space, etc)
I think I’ll give this a try though, sounds fun.

I was not a fan of infinite. Just did not do it for me. The first Bioshock is deffo the best. Love the first one! I would buy the collection just for the first one.
You can buy the first one separately on eShop.
Hmmmmmm Im having such a hard time deciding between getting this or Borderlands, cuz I can't afford both at the moment!
I got borderlands its freat but im getting this too
Even though I've played & completed both sets of games (minus Borderlands Pre-sequel) I dipped into the Borderlands Legendary Collection again
I also had that choice to make. I bought Bioshock. When I read that there’s a lot of grinding and the humor can become a bit much, I decided to go with Bioshock on the Switch and I’ll pick up Borderlands for the Xbox One.
One of my few complaints with bioshock 2 and infinite (any system) is that there was no real final boss fight in either game and you never got to fight the songbird in infinite. Surviving a hoard of enemies is not a fitting end to a game unless you've beaten an actual final boss first and have to do it on low health or just escape. The game mechanics were better in 2 but story was better in 1. Infinite just didnt have enough useful powers like 1 and 2 did. Hopefully when the new bioshock comes out, it will stay away from the gameplay of infinite and go back to an improved combination of story and gameplay from both 1 and 2.
Its a plot point that you can't fight Songbird. Older Elizabeth tells Booker outright that EVERY future where he fights him Songbird WILL kill him. Songbird is just too much for Booker to handle; too big, fast, and powerful.
Well, the original premise of infinite was a lot more ambitious.
Kevin Levine promised Infinite would have large amounts of choices that affect Colombia and its people as a whole, not to mention Elizabeth’s tear abilities would’ve played a much bigger role in combat which is watered down in the final product.
The songbird originally was an actual enemy/threat that you had to run away from as it would constantly be flying around in search of you on Colombia, kinda like a big daddy but a bigger threat then them. Though whether if you could actually defeat it is another question entirely since the songbird has ties to the story in the final product. As for the abilities more than likely there were probably more abilities that were left out of the final product.
At the end of the day, bioshock infinite maybe the best entry in the series to most, others will disagree that it felt too much like a standard and shallow FPS game compared to the 1st & 2nd games.
Not every game needs a stupid boss fight
@@dukenukeman may not need a stupid boss fight but definitely needs a good boss fight. And you call yourself Duke Nukem? You're no Duke if you dont crave a boss fight lol
I feel like infinite could have been soooo much more. Looking back at the gameplay trailers it’s disappointing at what they took out. The voice actor sounded good as well In the gameplay trailer not that I don’t like troy baker I absolutely love him but they should have Stuck with the trailer. The story in infinite is what holds it up. I will always tho prefer bioshock 1 and 2
Only played Infinite before buying the port. Might sound weird, but I think I like Bioshock 2 more than the orignal version. Would most def recommend buying this collection!
I've played all 3 and I am on the same boat that I like 2 more than the original and definetly more than Infinite. The story in 1 is better than the other two in my opinion but the gameplay in 2 was more enjoyable for me and while the story isn't as great as 1, its still enjoyable and I think Minerva's Den comes close to rivaling it. Infinite I feel is grossly over hyped. Its not a bad game but it seems downgraded in the gameplay department and I feel its story is over complicated with the multiple realities thing though I have yet to play Burial at Sea so I can't judge the DLCs for it. None are bad games but Bioshock 2 is one of my favorite games of all times. It was admittedly my first Bioshock game but even after playing the other 2, I am still far more fond of 2.
Is that gameplay on the Switch itself?
i am playing this on plystaton plus. it is still awesome to me. i never played bioshock 2 yet though.
Does anyone know the size of the additional downloads for the physical version? I can't for the life of me find an answer anywhere.
i think its roughly about 10gb per game
Yeah around 31gb. I thought it would be bigger. I was surprised I still have space on my sd card.
I’ve never played this game would you recommend me buying it and playing it? It’s on sale right now for the switch and I’m looking for a game that’s less then 10-15$
Just stoped at GameStop and was on sale 20 $ for the collection 🤩💪🏽
im thinking about buying this game and i might
Good content keep up with your channel 🙌🙌🙏🙏
Ugh i want this collection so badly but the fact that 2K only put 1 chapter of each game in the cartridge is seriously stopping me from buying it. They could've easily fit both 1 & 2 and provided a download code for Infinite. Instead it's 3 "incomplete" games inside. =(
The BioShock series is a masterpiece
make sure you manualy save your games every now and again had bioshock 2 crash on me and brought me back to the last auto save which took me well over an hour to return to where is was
So what is the difference between the collection and the remastered edition?
fire poet The collection comes with the remasters, or you can buy them separately, but it’s cheaper to just buy the collection for 50 bucks.
Does it look good on TV to or is it muddy I heard the outer worlds switch version looks crappy on TV
It looks great in handheld or docked. The Outer Worlds looks like shit in both.
Is it ok on big screen too?
i'm still not sure if i should pick it up. does it have great plots?
Ehh part 1 and 3 are the better ones. And even then kind of overhyped. But good games if you’ve never played them before.
2 doesn't have a good plot as 1 and 3 , but the Dlc Minerva's Den is amazing.
Not if its physical version might aswell just call it a boot cartridge
So I already have all 3 games for ps3, but no dlc. Should I trade those in and buy this or what?
