I'd argue that early days she didn't have it anywhere near as good as she does now. She's a 1000x better vocalist now than she was when she first started. Both are fantastic, but she's so much better now.
Not always. Her technique has improved immensely in mid-late 2010s. Her 2000s was pure belted. Even in this clip, the first Eb5 was a bit strained/pushed but so effortless in the second one because the placement difference is huge.
She's never stopped working on her voice. She has natural talent but understands it takes practice to maintain your instrument. She's the one artist that I would pay hundreds of dollars to see live. Hopefully she'll return to Vegas so I might have the opportunity.
Love them both for different reasons! 2003 was so raw, aggressive, and powerful, but 2023 is so beautiful, well rounded, and full! Both really good considering the two different eras!
yes but the original had the emotion that got lost by perfect singing of the newer one. better technically isnt always better in singing. sometimes you need to add feeling.
To be fair, that 2003 note was pretty killer! It had great openness and vibrato - clearly a young and healthy voice. She's a much more seasoned and skilled singer now, and overall I prefer her new voice - she also made it look like Eb5 wasn't an issue at all just sat there without strain, but just on that specific note, I prefer the rounded young vibrato rather than the older rasp.
First one was belted, second was head voice. She absolutely could still belt that note if she chose to, she's done that Eb5 and higher in other songs recently. But she's not just the queen of vocal range, she's also the queen of knowing the appropriate stylistic choices for a song - like how much melisma is too much, or when to jump up to a descant, or in this case that a head note would be more fitting for an acoustic, low-key performance of this song, rather than a full belt. 💖
Both are belts, however, the second is better placed. She has grown in her abilities which shows dedication and a willingness to mess to grow. She is awesome!
She made it look pretty easy young but she makes it look like a cakewalk now like no biggie just going to nail this note keep singing. Also stylist bring back the blonde
I saw a video about how everyone is pitch corrected and used a Kelly Clarkson clip to show it. No hate at all but now I wonder if the main difference is digital perfection that doesn't exist in a person's voice. I love Kelly! He didn't say it from hate. The title was something about why we won't ever hear a voice like Judy Garland again.
@@Amrold Check out my video titled ‘Kelly Clarkson’s Edited vs Unedited High Notes’ on my channel. It proves that Kelly doesn’t need pitch correction, they just edit her performances to make them sound even more polished and professional
It’s not that high I mean it’s high but I can hit that note fairly easy same key as a male idk if that’s rare the highest chest note I can hit is G#5 and highest head voice note rn without training is D6
No Problem, Kelly's recordings rely on Singer's Little Helpers (Auto Tune and Pitch Correction) to line everything up nice and pretty and boring. Kelly only has to show up within a note or two of the destination and Singer's Little Helpers do the rest. All nuanced expression will be removed and Kelly's recordings will sound like all the other recordings by other singers nowhere near as talented as she is.
I didn't like 2023 tbh. I definitely think 2003 was superior. Her newer one, like she usually does on this specific note, was swallowed, constricted, thin, and airy. Also, the mix was imbalanced. It just wasn't a well produced note. I suspect that's where her voice naturally transitions.
I agree with you. It was also a little bit pitchy for the first second, then she landed into the note. No problem at all, but it wasn't anything superior.
Her placement and mix have always been stratospheric 😍😍

Fantastic Kelly. I Will Always Love You, American Woman and Silent Night are 3 of my fave Clarkson clips. Look 'em up folks and enjoy.

Watching her in that first American Idol was so fun. She just blew away the competition and you just knew she was going to be a star

Do you even have an idea of what head voice sounds like?
Both are mixed belts. One just less controlled and raspy. There is no head voice in this clip. Are you even an educated singer?
