maybe I've said it hundreds of times but I'll keep on saying it, Calli is one of Hololive's members who is the kindest, understanding, loyal friend and most considerate to other members maybe even more than herself, that's why I can't understand why someone would hate her
The people who rag on her for literally no reason are just cunts. She lives rent free in their head while they piss and moan about how shit she is saying "she can't sing", "she's fat" and all sorts of drivel.
Recently stumbled across a channel that almost exclusively these days pumps out content based on shitting on her and her music. Even going as far as to announce the link between her and her alternate persona. Like, how do you get so brain damaged?
Calli has a tough façade in looks and her music, and I guess that rattles the snowflakes' quills too much for them to hear the disgustingly kind and moe girl behind the persona. It's a symptom of the widespread decay of social interaction.

Another thing to add, apparantly everyone that she met always paid for her meals (like Fuma, Ponkan8-mama and Calli) and refused when she wants to at least pay for her share. This makes Kobo feels so guilty coz she didn't bring much souvenirs from Indonesia.

We all need a dad in our life and here it's demonstrated perfectly by Calli treating Kobo to a fancy dinner without expecting anything back in return.
Kobo is such a kind girl, she didn't had much, but still wanted to help with the bill.
It doesn't seem like that Kobo is used to luxury, so she was a bit blown away by the amount on said bill.
But it's ok Kobo, Calli loves to share the experience with the people important to her. Calli hates showing emotions on stream, but she genuinely loves Kobo. So it ok to accept Calli's offer on a nice dinner together.
The per capita GPD in Indonesia is about $4300 US. I'm not missing a zero there. Comparatively, Japan's is about $39,000 and the US is over $70,000. That doesn't account for a lot of factors like wealth inequality. You can be from a rich family in ID, obviously. But certainly, being taken out to dinner that costs almost $500 is like, unimaginable for most Indonesians. Like Kobo said, it would be hard to even find a restaurant that expensive in her country. I mean, I grew up middle class in a bougie area of the US and I've never been taken out to a dinner for two people that cost anywhere near that much. I'd feel bad about it.

The minimum wage in Indonesia by law is around 200-250 USD or around 3-3.5 million rupiah a month (some place is little bit higher, while other is a little bit lower than that).
So, getting treated to a dinner with bill double than minimum wage is not usual for an Indonesian.
Calli is the fucking best, man. She doesn’t deserve all the hate for everything she pours into EN while still keeping her other persona going, not to mention her connections to the JP branch and now ID.
She’s the rock on which the EN branch is built upon.
Kobo really shouldn’t feel bad. What’s a little dinner between friends, or father and son in this case.
Even as a Dead Beat who owns her merch, I won't pretend like she never makes mistakes. She's written lyrics that I straight up don't like/don't agree with, even as Calli, not going back to past lives or anything. But the way all of her mistakes get put under a microscope and people feel entitled to a personal apology because she's somewhat internet famous and fairly successful has got to be exhausting. And for every song she's written that made me go, "Eh, that's not it girl..." she has probably five others that I find genuine and inspiring.

If you invite someone out to eat and know they aren't as financially secure as you, pay the check. Don't make them sweat it trying to figure out what the can afford.
On other hand, if someone offers to pay for your meal, don't be a jerk and order most expensive thing on menu.
It's actually quite funny when I invite some out to eat.
They usually are shy to buy the expensive ones but I then buy the most expensive one because I'm a huge eater and they have this dilenma if they should change their order or not.
The problem is also they might take it the wrong way if you go for something cheap. But fancy restaurent aren't really always the most expensive either.

100% Kobo is giving most of he money to her family, but she is certainly not strapped. If anything, it may just simply have been a matter of the restaurant being cash only, which is in fact still a thing in Japan. Even with fancy places.

Its great that at least some young people like kobo understands that while being treated to some form of luxury is amazing, its not something she should take for granted and is still humble enough to acknowledge personal responsibility.
Still the mental image of her diving into her wallet and just dumping everything she could to help pay for the bill is nothing short of heartwrenching. 1k yen would have been dangerously close to not being enough for a ride back to where she was staying either.

omakase is usually type of course that specially made by chef in round of dishes. it can costs like more or less around $100 - $200 ish per person. so its reasonable price for 3 persons, but for calli to splurge like that on Kobo might scare her looking at the bill
Obviously people have different understanding of what is expensive. I wouldn't spend 400bucks on 2 people but 50bucks is unrealistic here to get a little fancy food.
well not really, when i went to Japan, i ate at fancy rest and the bill got up to 200$ for myself and even we (a group of 4 friends) pay 340$ each for a sushi experience in Kyoto, with i dont know what type of gourmet fish and even uni (urchin), so yeah, its expensive if you look for it, and you can go even higher

@@livingglowstick1337 in US it might sounds not possible but in indonesia you can get a wide room with its own bath/toilet, AC, wifi, ban smoking in the building with $250. there are websites that offer these rooms with the spec and price. just gotta look for it a bit because some are placing unreasonable price for what they offer

honestly, there are a lot of "expensive" fancy dinner in indonesia..
it's just, the general price of foods in japan and in indonesia are quite different..
a mere can coffee in japan's vending machine costed 100 yen, that's around 10k-20k IDR, and you can get up to 2 cans of coffee with that in indonesia... to top it off, we could get up to 4 glasses of coffee at a street cafe..
the price range between regular food and "expensive" food are quite huge in indonesia to the point most of us would get confused by how high/expensive things are in japan..
bringing 70k yen in japan might be a normal or a little bit much thing to do for a working japanese people...
but here in indonesia, most people don't even bring money equal to 10k yen in their wallets..
like me, most of the time I only bring 100k IDR, which equal to 1k yen (the current currency).. if I want to go outside, like to the movie theatre, I only bring equal to 3k yen at most just in case of anything like if my tire broke or something...
that's why Kobo (and other girls tbh, except Reine) often got surprised by how expensive some dinner they had...
though, now they already accustomed/used to it, thanks to everyone's supacha..

It's most likely little more than jealousy, they don't like that she's doing so well and that she's so sure of herself. Japan seems to adore Calli, so it's just the very vocal minority of Western fans that are causing the problem, I truly don't understand why they act the way they do.

Basically, she did something bad during her teenage years, truly regretted it years later, apologized, deleted the record and never did it again. But haters just don't want to let it go and keep bringing up the past issue even until now. When got called out by calli, they got angrier.
They're basically running out of ideas and just recycled the 'reason' to hate her successful career. The hate train is there because of the angry mob spreading her past mistake without explaining that the issue has long been resolved.
(At this point, they just making things up like: "calli treats her genmates badly", "she's not even popular", "horses" etc... and other stupid reasons)
But as we can see here in Holo, she actually has mellowed a lot and treats her friends well.

I don’t know why, but in our culture, when the check comes, there has to be a big deal about fighting over who gets to pay it, before the person who is the guest concedes and lets the person who invites pay for it. It’s considered bad manners if you don’t make a show of wanting to pay for the meal, even if both party knows it’s for show and the “host” party pays.
