🔌Anyone stumble on this still looking to fix their SU-V2 / SU-V4: I have a reliable (as-in true to the original schematic) DIY clone of the STK8040 / STK8050. Some glimpses on DIYaudio and AudioKarma 🔊
Unfortunately the person who owned this passed on so there was never a part 2. (I actually still have it but its been through 2 moves already). Do you have a link? ill pin it
@@THEtechknight After 2 moves you can't not repair it. Broken equipment that follows me in house changes owes me to work eventually. I tried posting links here twice but UA-cam must be blocking them, though I get no reject notification. The one on EEVblog is easy to find and links to the other two. On Diyaudio search "build-stk8050-equivalent.319154" page 7 of thread. On AudioKarma search "technics-sa-425-plan-of-attack.873663" page 8 of thread. The photos of my PCB layout are willingly blurred of course...

I feel your pain! Tight or nil areas to work or remove....Im working on a radio now like that....will be interesting to see your re-work on those chips! Happy Holidays! ~Jack, VEG
@@THEtechknight Lol, I removed the main cover on my 470 PXS CAP about 5 years ago to check all the components. I've too have struggled with the motivation to progress since I couldn't figure out how to remove the front cover at the time. However I only spent about 5 minutes looking inside. I have a 2 week holiday starting next week and figured that I would take a closer look. So far I only managed to find 1 tare down of my amp after searching today, but its in Russian: ( Also if I upgrade the 2 large capacitors, will it increase the bass?
@@THEtechknight yeah I remember you mentioning the issue with the STK if I remember correctly you mentioned having reduced power. Actually I wasn't sure if you meant reduced overall power output or if you have a separate STK for each channel. I didn't even know the name for this type of component until you pointed it out. When you replace your capacitors will you consider do you think its worth putting in larger ones?
I have an SU-V2 in mint condition which has a deal left channel. The STK parts issue is making this a headache. I saw an effort to recreate one with discrete circuitry. Perhaps a community funded kickstarter could get new modules made for cheap.
Hi, can you do the next parts of this? I have this exact same amp with the exact same problem - the STK is dead in one channel. Rather than try to replace it I'd like to see how you modify it to be better.
Sounds good. I was going to replace the STK with a small complementary MOSFET power amp module but then I found that this amp incorporates the tone control in the negative feedback which made my plan more than complicated!

When is part 2 of the technics repairs going to be uploaded?
It's a labor of love because the original owner abandoned it with me over 5 years ago. So I've not had the motivation to fix it

@@fellowyorkshireman2391 the issue with this one is I need to make reproduction STK packs, and it needs new caps

I will. I have been busy so it kinda went on the back burner. I have to cut open the good STK so I can get resistor values.

Very interesting video )
No update at the end? We are still waiting!
Get in line. So am I. Need to find the time but currently it is of low priority.
just say it you can't fix it it's been 2 years
Yes I can, but I am no longer doing videos because of youtubes BS.
What happen to Part 2 of this repair. I have one on my bench and you piqued my interest with Part 1.
Customer decided not to go through with it.
