Here's a tip! No matter how good you might sound singing Micheal in the bathroom, burn, or lifeboat, you should never sing a song from the current "hit musical". Especially if it's a school or local show. Trust me, they've already heard people sing waving through a window with eight different note patterns at least ten times today. Pick an unknown or less popular musical or song.
Haha. Where I'm from there's not a lot of musical nerds and/ or musical/acting opportunities outside and inside of high school production so basically every musical (no matter what musical) is an unknown musical and even if you sing a well known theatre song, no one is gunna care (if anything they'll be ecstatic) because the reality of someone else singing that song is next to nothing. However this is a good tip for when I move to a big city for university.

Megan Karow I absolutely disagree- I played Miss Hannigan in Annie and the day before the show I got a cold. I tried to belt the last note of little girls and hurt my voice. Don't overwork your voice, and if you need to take a break, (lol Hamilton) then take one. Don't hurt yourself.

The only thing I was expecting was: For #3 the part in Our Love Is God when Kurt and Ram count "one, two.." and JD comes out with a gun and says "Three *boom!*"
Diaries Of The Popularly Impaired I played JD in a showcase once. One of my teachers ran an audition and a group of my friends auditioned with a song from heathers (seventeen) we got it, but she asked us to sing freeze your brain with me as JD...
Top 3 songs not to do for an audition; 3. Anything from a modern musical (Dear Evan Hanson, Hamilton etc.) 2. Blue, Heathers. Pretty self explanatory. 1. On My Own, Les Mis. Also, pretty self explanatory.
i sang funny girl- "don't rain on my parade" and didn't make the cut, week later i attended a musical camp. i sang it, they said i sang it perfectly, but the reason i wasnt chosen was because they heard it 28639287399639829768860 billion times and they were done hearing it.
I thought u would say to not sing any songs with cursing in it (*cough cough* Heathers *cough cough* Don't worry I STILL LOVE HEATHERS) if it's a school play audition or something
Okay, I hate that I’ll have to do this, but I’m auditioning for Eponine and it is required to sing a song from the show. 32 bars and no less. Guess what is the only instance in the show where she has 32 bars of music to herself??? (It’s On My Own. It’s freaking On My Own.)
So my school is doing Les Mis next year, I really would love to play Fantine so I'm preparing myself now even though the audition is 7 months away. I've decided on I dreamed a dream (because in my school, we have to choose two songs for auditions, one from the show and something else) and burn from Hamilton (because Burn is another, yet different song that is powerful but filled with emotion0
Tayden Overton That's strange. We were told to never EVER audition with a song from the musical we were auditioning for. We needed 30 seconds of music that wasn't from that show or pop music
i went into an audition, i sang On My Own, and not ONE of the EIGHT people on the casting team knew what the song was or what the musical was. Not ONE person knew what it was when i told them what i was going to sing. I couldn't believe it.
WOW, even before I first saw Les Mis I had heard On My Own (not sure where, but I definitely recognised it when I first saw the movie). Did you tell them it was the musical "I Dreamed a Dream" was from?
WibblyWobblyTimeyWimey no i didn't. I walked in and slated my name, and they asked what i was singing and i said "On My Own" and they asked what it was from and i was like "Les Misérables" sorta in disbelief and they were all like "hmm, never heard of it" i couldn't believe it !! So i just sang and thanked them and left in disbelief lol.
As a classical singer, I turn to Sondheim all the time (opera companies often do Sondheim). Why shouldn't you audition with Sondheim for shows other than Sondheim shows?
Ashlee Bickley I realize this is like a year late 😂 but most of the time it’s because Sondheim is so hard to follow in the music, and if you miss anything you’re never going to be able to find your place again
My favourite video of yours!! 1. I got the too fast one. I know exactly what it was. 2. You missed so many. 3. It's never good when somebody gets up to do Rose's Turn (Patti Style or not) 4. I like your face. K bye.
Non Stop, Yorktown, 96,000, Mama who bore me, Apex Predator, Stop, Meet the Plastics, Colder by the Minute, Rose's Turn, Santa Fe, Dancing Through Life, I dreamed a dream, Popular, No one mourns the Wicked
Quick question: what is this "head voice"? Just curious because I love to sing and would like to go into acting/voice work someday and I don't have any musical theater experience >
Flutterbutt225 Head voice is what female opera singers use. You know, the much higher notes? If you use good technique, you should feel some sort of vibration/sensation in your head when using head voice. That or you can look up "head voice" on UA-cam/Google lol
Oh, thank you! I might just look it up lol I've been getting on people's cases for not Googling things lately. Nice to talk to someone once in a while, though, you know? :)
I literally grew up listening to Sondheim because my dad is a huge Sondhead and turned me into one as well. So I can confirm it is possible to learn to sing Sondheim from a CD but only if you've been listening to it basically since you came out of the womb. Also, another reason Sondheim songs don't make for great audition songs is that you don't know how well the pianist will be able to play them. The only two Sondheim songs I can think of that are fairly safe to audition with are Anyone Can Whistle and I Remember.
Something that not many judges expect is a Comedic song. So something like, "On My Phone." From Forbidden Brodway, is something they won't expect, most times it's actually Really funny. It'll definitely make the judge remember you.
i sing that song to myself like ten times a day it is my JAM my voice is so high that there's barely anything i can sing easily but it's like perfectly in my range i love it
i'm very late at this comment, but i was Jack in Into the Woods (i'm a girl but its all good). But Giants in the Sky is such a beautiful song to sing. Its also really difficult. I hope you did well!
Juliana Mini I'm an alto- mezzo belter so I actually had a better voice for it than most of the males at my school haha and it was so fun! People didn't even know I was a girl until they saw the playbill haha or I came out and said hi to the audience
Once was tossing the idea of singing "Everything's Alright" from Jesus Christ Superstar for an audition, but decided against auditioning entirely due to schedule conflicts. Only to find out that the director actually really enjoys hearing people sing that song and it may have actually gone over well... darn.
I'm pretty sure they'd actually let that slide in school because it's historically accurate and they probably wouldn't mind because they teach that _in_ history. (Murder and shit)
I always try to keep a variety in my rep. It Normally boils down to Being Alive from Company. Feed Me from Little Shop Of Horrors and Javet's Soliloquy or Stars because they're probably the least used audition songs from les mis.
Another tip: (I’ve cast shows and been cast myself so I know the struggle is real) don’t sing a top 40 song in a musical theatre style. It doesn’t wash
I auditioned with I Speak Six Languages from Spelling Bee (mainly because most the singers in the musical aren’t stylistic, so I have tons of room to play around with the notes), and it got me a musical voice acting role for a series that airs in the summer of 2018! The whole character part of this video is definitely true. No one ever really got anywhere trying to put on a character they didn't quite care for.
I started to laugh because am doing Hairspray the Musical and the Boys had to Sing "It takes too" and the my where very Bad and I said to my friend next to me the my should not use this song for the audition 😂
Singing too low is a huge problem for me!!! I have a really high voice so most songs are too low! So I struggled with most songs. -_- is Like I auditioned for James and the giant peach in 6th grade and the opening song was too low for me so I was like "oh it's been years maybe my voice is deeper." Nope. Search it up. Yeah. But hey at least I can sing Galinda's part in no one mourns the wicked (from the show wicked)!
It bothers me when people claim to be musical theatre geeks, but their knowledge is limited to Heathers, Hamilton, Be More Chill, and other modern musicals. They've probably never even heard of Miss Saigon, or A Chorus Line, or Sweeney Todd. There's nothing wrong with those musicals, but people need to know about other musicals that paved the way before they call themselves a theatre kid.
Fyyg Fuhvdd I don't have a problem with them liking those musicals. I clearly stated that in my comment. In fact, I like all of those musicals too. What I DO have a problem with is them calling themselves theatre kids when they hardly know any musicals besides the ones popular today.
Evan G. Evan G. There's a reason why those musicals are popular. They're genius! You're not superior to people who call themselves theatre geeks, but like a lot of newer stuff. Hamilton is my favorite musical because it's genius. It wasn't my first musical at all. Just because something's older doesn't mean it's better or more superior. A theatre kid is a kid who obsesses or even just likes theatre. You sound like a snob when you say things and it can hurt people's feelings. You don't have to know every Broadway show to know your stuff. I like Miss Saigon and Sweeney Todd, but I've honestly never heard of A Chorus. But, I bet it's very superior, right?
Darn, I guess my Everyone's A Little Bit Racist audition didn't go so well, huh :( (this is a joke. someone is probably going to take me seriously on this i stg)
LoonyHalfBlood iM TAKING THIS HORSE BY THE REINS MAKING RED COATS REDDER WITH BLOODSTAINS AND IM NEVER GONNA STOP UNTIL I MAKE EM DROP AND BURN EM UP AND SCATTER THE REMAINS WATCH ME ENGAGIN EM ESCAPIN EM ENRAGING EM I GO TO FRANCE FOR MORE FUNDS I COME BACK WITH MORE GUNS AND SHIPS AND SO THE BALANCE SHIFTS WE RENDEZVOUS WITH ROCHAMBEAU, CONSOLIDATE THEIR GIFTS (I think that's the lyrics???)
If it’s needed. Rapping for a musical theatre audition isn’t recommended because you aren’t singing properly, you’re using sing-speak and it isn’t really good for a musical audition
I'm so upset because my school has this huge auditorium yet they don't do musicals or plays. I'm only in eighth grade so at least I have other chances in high school, but my old middle school didn't even have an auditorium and we put on this AMAZING musical
My audition song is going to be Freeze Your Brain, and I'm just going to go for it, I probs. won't get the part tho, I am a girl and it is a male part.
If I was to audition I would have to cross out these panic songs: This is gospel LA Devotee Victorious possibly Girls/Girls/Boys Death Of a Bachelor and the chorus of Ballad of Mona Lisa
Here's a tip: No matter how good you sound singing Michael in the Bathroom, Burn, or Lifeboat in character, don't try to get too in character. If you're auditioning for Into The Woods and you want to play the witch, try not to do everything that the character does, try not to sound too evil. If you're auditioning for Next To Normal and you want to play Gabe, don't try swinging around on poles like how Aaron did it at the 2010 Tonys. It'll be too obvious that you want the role.
Me @ an audition: Hi my name is Helena and I’ll be singing It’s Quiet Uptown from Hamilton. Everyone else: Ok. piano intro starts Me: There are moments that the words don’t- *rapidly starts sobbing* *cries for an hour*
Are you really a theatre kid if you’ve never made an audition song mistake? My audition for Alice in Wonderland Jr. was Reflection from Mulan... it was acapella... I got an unnamed flower lmao
Natalie&Samantha Lehto my friends and I were going to do freeze your brain and one of my friends even learned the piano part (which is very difficult and took her two weeks) and a few days before the teacher running it decided that it was a metaphor for drugs and wasn't allowed (we changed the cocaine part) and we emailed the principal and she said the song was fine but we still weren't allowed to sing it and we didn't have time to learn another one.
can someone help me im into what people call basic/normie musicals, specifically heathers. snobs keep calling me a "fake fan" which gets under my skin, and i really want to branch out to other lesser known musicals, i've tried listening to stuff like ragtime, newsies, rent, and chicago but i'm not a big fan of them. people calling me a fake fan isn't the only reason why i want to get into other musicals, i want a musical to fall back on and obsess over if and when my heathers addiction ends. the book of mormon is pretty good, but it's not something i'll be addicted to like i was with hamilton and heathers. and that's the type of musical im looking for. even tho when the full cast recording of mean girls comes out, i'll probably obsess over that for a few months. thank u for your time
Have you tried Be More Chill? I'm assuming you have since you've heard of Heathers and Hamilton, but if you're looking to get interested in a new musical, try that one!
For my 2nd ever audition but 1st time singing infront of someone I did lifeboat from heathers- since it was the only song i knew the best (and also i wasn't planning on actually singing till it was almost my turn-- ((the company i do theatre with is v understanding so it would've been okay if i didn't sing)) and i was so nervous, they let me bring my best friend in and she held my hand. i probably did so bad from my nerves and i know literally nothing about singing 😂 but the musical director and everyone let me know how proud they were of me which was super sweet 💕
hey yall heres a tip for picking audition songs: - something in your key - something close to the show youre auditioning. for example, if youre auditioning for thoroughly modern millie you could choose a song from the drowsy chaperone. theyre similar in setting and style (and drowsy is fantastic) and itll be more unique than a "classic" audition song - i know you probably want to get A Specific Character, but dont assume youll be considered for that role. this calls back to her bringing up knowing your casting type - songs in your abilities, like belting and stuff. this fits with singing in your key - like she said, songs currently being shown. if its Trendy the likelihood that dozens of people will audition with a song from it grows exponentially (not a bad thing, but pick the song that shows your capabilities rather than your wants)

"#2. Don't sing songs that are too high for you." Wait, shi-... That means all of them. :(
Same...
Quizzerd Story of my life....
Me, a sad contralto
Quizzerd lol as an Alto everything is either too high or too low
Yes
The only thing I was expecting was:
For #3 the part in Our Love Is God when Kurt and Ram count "one, two.." and JD comes out with a gun and says "Three *boom!*"
YES
Heathers!
WAIT OMG YESS
Diaries Of The Popularly Impaired I played JD in a showcase once. One of my teachers ran an audition and a group of my friends auditioned with a song from heathers (seventeen) we got it, but she asked us to sing freeze your brain with me as JD...
Top 3 songs not to do for an audition;
3. Anything from a modern musical (Dear Evan Hanson, Hamilton etc.)
2. Blue, Heathers. Pretty self explanatory.
1. On My Own, Les Mis. Also, pretty self explanatory.
Yeah Blue is totally self explanatory XD
You make my balls so blue...
kei you hurt them badly
You make my balls so blue...
Yeah especially a high school audition, I got like a week of detention from the head of the theater department .
I was one of 13 girls in an audition session for Annie. Every single girl except me sang "Tomorrow". 😐🔫
Juce That's sad. People should never do a song from the show they are auditioning for
Bethany Hooper lmao "my heart will go on". And I sang the ENTIRE thing 😂😂😂 I feel so bad for those producers now
Juce You get in?
I did actually. I got the police officer at the beginning who tries to take the dog to the pound.
At my audition for The Lion King, almost everyone did tomorrow. I did Can I Get An Amen by CG5.
i sang funny girl- "don't rain on my parade" and didn't make the cut, week later i attended a musical camp. i sang it, they said i sang it perfectly, but the reason i wasnt chosen was because they heard it 28639287399639829768860 billion times and they were done hearing it.
YOUR HAIR IS SO PRETTY 💕💕💕
Aww thank you so much Amanda you sweetie! x
I thought u would say to not sing any songs with cursing in it (*cough cough* Heathers *cough cough* Don't worry I STILL LOVE HEATHERS) if it's a school play audition or something
Yeah that's a fair point!!
That's a given ahahaha
satan
Or Lifeboat
sing dead girl walking (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
oml imagine someone singing someone the shine a light reprise.
Somehow I think she'd make a great Mrs. Lovett. Not sure why I just do
Ava you have just made my day! Mrs Lovett is such a huge dream role for me!!
Ava Hendricks I kinda see Madame Thenardier...
~:~
Amy Lovatt Arent you MrsLovatt?
Her look and her name?
Not going to lie I thought that too.
I can't even sing, why am I watching this?
Ive sang on my own for so many auditions my god
SAME! I'm trying not to anymore... I don't want it too be so overused that I can't stand it anymore... 😢
it’s like the best song ever tho
Cora Fitzgerald I love On My Own and I really want to use it because it's such a comfortable range but it's over used as hell
Lmao same
However I got accepted into what I was doing so 😂
I sang Good Morning Baltimore and I Can Hear The Bells so many times for auditions.
Yeah you can guess my dream role.
Awesome! I wish you luck! ^_^
Tayden Overton oh I sang her part!
From les mis
kisabelle04
Tayden Overton That's strange. We were told to never EVER audition with a song from the musical we were auditioning for. We needed 30 seconds of music that wasn't from that show or pop music
them: okay you can start singing now
me: **ahem**
me: the demon queen of high school has decreed it
everyone: _oh shit_
Me: **quietly claps and mouths the rest of the lyrics**
Me: **mouthing** she says Monday 8 am, I will be
*D E L E T E D*
Me: **fangirling** THEY’LL HUNT ME DOWN IN STUDY HALL, STUFF AND MOUNT ME ON THE WALL, THIRTY HOURS TO LIVE, HOW SHALL I SPEND THEM
Adelina Skyward
Me: **Accidentally sings aloud** I DON'T HAVE TO STAY AND DIE LIKE-- Oops.
LittleMissTsundere I COULD CHANGE MY NAME AND RIDE UP TO SEATTLE, BUT I DON'T OWN A MOTORBIKE..
Wait...
HERE'S AN OPTION THAT I LIKE

*_FREEEEEEEEEEEE CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE_*
...Yeah!
i went into an audition, i sang On My Own, and not ONE of the EIGHT people on the casting team knew what the song was or what the musical was.
EH?!?!?! That's insane!
Jesus Christ....
Wtf
Don't sing Sondheim unless it's for Sondheim. Just please.
Tru dat
Broadway 2 Be LMAOOOOO
As a classical singer, I turn to Sondheim all the time (opera companies often do Sondheim). Why shouldn't you audition with Sondheim for shows other than Sondheim shows?
Ashlee Bickley I realize this is like a year late 😂 but most of the time it’s because Sondheim is so hard to follow in the music, and if you miss anything you’re never going to be able to find your place again
You mean I can't sing A Little Priest for the role of Cristine for Phantom?
I WAS SO EXCITED FOR THE TEN DUEL COMMANDMENTS
Aerospace LlamamalL I KNOW I WAS WAITING
SAME THO HAMILFAM
There are ten things you need to know-
@@seven-cats-3 you're mean
My favourite video of yours!!
1. I got the too fast one. I know exactly what it was.
2. You missed so many.
3. It's never good when somebody gets up to do Rose's Turn (Patti Style or not)
4. I like your face.
K bye.
Haha thanks Pal!! Maybe we should do a video with the ones I missed?!?!
Peter Macfarlane I.
@@AmyLovatt1 was the fast song Guns And Ships? (also lol I'm a year late)
Lmao i assumed it was ‘getting married today’ from company
was the fast song Guns and Ships?
Songs not to sing:
Seasons of Love
Defying Gravity
Getting to know You
1. ON.
2. MY.
3. OWN.
Say no to this
blue
Non Stop, Yorktown, 96,000, Mama who bore me, Apex Predator, Stop, Meet the Plastics, Colder by the Minute, Rose's Turn, Santa Fe, Dancing Through Life, I dreamed a dream, Popular, No one mourns the Wicked
ALSO!!!!! Don't sing a song that is meant to be belted in your head voice. A majority of the time it'll be very underwhelming and boring.
VERY VERY VERY VERY TRUE!!!!
Why "The World Was Wide Enough"?! WHY? ;-;
It was 10 Duel Commandments...
Live Love & Draw they're actually to seperate songs
Why not?
Something that not many judges expect is a Comedic song. So something like, "On My Phone." From Forbidden Brodway, is something they won't expect, most times it's actually Really funny. It'll definitely make the judge remember you.
PSA if you are a soprano try auditioning with No One Else in Great Comet
Julia Strauss YASSS that WAS EXACTLY what I was thinking! I'm a soprano and I just fell in love with the great comet!
i sing that song to myself like ten times a day it is my JAM my voice is so high that there's barely anything i can sing easily but it's like perfectly in my range i love it
Lol I'm an alto and I can barely hit an f without squeaking
If you're a mezzo you can sing Sonya Alone! That would be awesome!
Really all Les Mis songs are off limits...
And Phantom of the Opera
TRUUUUUUUUE!
Chatelaine Lambert And:
Hairspray
Wicked
Anything Rodgers and Hammerstein
Anything Disney

Amy Lovatt not true lol I sing les mis for my broadway role and I got the role!

I sang "It's Quiet Uptown" for a Wizard of Oz audition. I got a callback for the Mayor of Munchkin city, which is surprising
AMAZING! Well done :D
I sang Popular From wicked for wizard of Oz
I sang For Forever from Dear Evan Hansen at my schools talent show, was that a good choice? (btw i won)
YES!!! Such a good choice! That song is gorgeous and well done for winning!!!!
I would've done if i could tell her or anybody have a map. But that's actually not too great cuz theres too many people doing it.
Gloria González López that is such a tough song too! congratulations!
Gloria González López pornô
Gloria González López
I'm singing Giants in the Sky from Into the Woods for my Willy Wonka audition in April
Oh amazing! Good luck Anthony!
i'm very late at this comment, but i was Jack in Into the Woods (i'm a girl but its all good). But Giants in the Sky is such a beautiful song to sing. Its also really difficult. I hope you did well!
Juliana Mini OMG I PLAYED JACK TOO!!!! I thought my school was the only one who cast a girl as jack haha
Stephanie Conklin OMG YASSS QUEENNN!!! how was it? giants in the sky was soo difficult for me. but jack was one of the best parts I've ever played#
Juliana Mini I'm an alto- mezzo belter so I actually had a better voice for it than most of the males at my school haha and it was so fun! People didn't even know I was a girl until they saw the playbill haha or I came out and said hi to the audience
haha I sang on my own for a Broadway camp audition

Once was tossing the idea of singing "Everything's Alright" from Jesus Christ Superstar for an audition, but decided against auditioning entirely due to schedule conflicts. Only to find out that the director actually really enjoys hearing people sing that song and it may have actually gone over well... darn.
Aww noooo! Sending you the best of luck for your next audition though! x
Thank you
3:40 is funny because as an Alto 2 those notes are easily in my range.
Laurel Crown same lol
Me too lmao
lol I'm a soprano 1 and those notes are also in my range
I don't even know what I am and I can sing them
Laurel Crown same lol, well I'm technically a soprano but I can hit them pretty comfortably.
As a Stage Manager who has been apart of over 50+ auditions. I agree.
Yay! Glad to hear Josh :D
I wanna sing Satisfied, Or You'll be back, I'm so dead XD
I can't hit the notes on Satisfied, and You'll be back talks bout murder
Lunamare MoonStarr Same! I was practicing satisfied for a talent show, and I cant sing about murder at school.
I'm pretty sure they'd actually let that slide in school because it's historically accurate and they probably wouldn't mind because they teach that _in_ history. (Murder and shit)
TwentyOnePilotsDanAndPhil PATDAndMelanieMartinez
SAME THOSE ARE MY FAVORITES FROM HAMILTON RIP ;~;
Satisfied also has multiple parts. But you'll be back is great. I swear get a friend and do a duet and then sing Farmer Refuted
is it ok to sing dear Theodosia for an audition?
Suuuuuuch a good song!
Jenna Momenna I did and landed the lead
If it is a duet audition. Since there is an Aaron Burr part and an Alexander Hamilton part.
But it is an amazing song in general
Jenna Momenna yeah because it's not too hard to pick one person's part
As soon as I turn 17 I'm auditioning for Heathers because it's my fave and I could totally pull off a jd 💣🔫🚬
I feel like I'll be a great Veronica tbh 😂😉
I've always wanted to play Heather McNamara
I have callbacks for Veronica and all the Heathers coming up.
Black Knight 1022 i think id be a good veronica
I would be Veronica cuz I can match her notes really well
Honestly, I have literally found one song that is too high for me. Now, too low for me is a whole different story. So many songs.
Ah a lot of songs are too high for me! I would love to be able to sing some really high stuff!
I would love to be able to sing low stuff. But we always want what we don't have I suppose.
imveryclueless I also have a very large belt, but I can also go very low. that is why I sing opera. you should give it a try
Rebecca Martin I actually sang a song from an opera for a singing competition. It was Art Is Calling For Me from The Enchantress. I did very well.
Haha, I can’t sing high *or* low
:(
"bring on the men" from Jekyll and Hyde is always a good one for a sasay popular girl.
Ahhhh yes I LOVE that song!
@@AmyLovatt1Same I love Jekyll and Hyde it's such a good musical! I listen to it on Halloween sometimes
Omg I really love your accent!
Aww thanks Isabelle!
I always try to keep a variety in my rep.
It Normally boils down to Being Alive from Company. Feed Me from Little Shop Of Horrors and Javet's Soliloquy or Stars because they're probably the least used audition songs from les mis.
Ah great songs! I am seriously obsessed with Javerts Suicide... pure beauty!
I just got finished doing little shop! I was the puppeteer of the largest Audrey Two :)
Loved this comment so much!! I used to always sing I Speak Six Languages for auditions and it got me into 2 drama schools!
Amy Lovatt It seems like a song that wouldn’t be very effective with an audition, but it’s the opposite, and it surprises me every time lmao
I DO THAT TOO! I even got marcy when I actually auditioned for the show
I'm so glad you didn't use Blow Us All Away for number 7...
Same tho
Guilty of #1
Morgan White did you get the role?
fangirl cupcake well I used it for show choir auditions and I did get in!
Morgan White CONGRATS
Morgan White I too am guilty of #1. I auditioned for my school play in 8th Grade which was Willy Wonka. I got Mrs Gloop :P
Heh.... I'm guilty too. I used the song to get into an advanced drama class and it worked!
IS IT WEIRD THAT I WANNA SING
'WHO LIVES WHO DIES WHO TELLS YOUR STORY'
OR LIKE
'BREATHE'
O R L I K E
'MICHEAL IN THE BATHROOM'
K BYE
Eliza and Peggy Schuyler all amazing songs, but stay away from them during auditions!
I lOVE HAIRSPRAY-
When our school was doing auditions for Les Miserables, someone auditioned with Blue. They are now legendary.
Your PFP is fabulous
I started to laugh because am doing Hairspray the Musical and the Boys had to Sing "It takes too" and the my where very Bad and I said to my friend next to me the my should not use this song for the audition 😂
Two*
La Soto we did Hairspray The Musical at School and the boys had to sing It Take Two this year!
Not all of it but parts
Sp-boop I deal with that do. It sucks.
Amy: Don't sing songs that are too fast for you.
Me: *I'MTAKINGTHISHORSEBYTHEREIGHNSMAKINGREDCOATSREDDERWITHBLOODSTAINS!*
Amy, from Company: hold my veil
Fun tip.. Don't sing One Day More from Les Mis at auditions unless you are in a group 😂😂
Here here!!!
Evan G. I don't necessarily disagree but at the same time let people like what they like dude stop being a snob
Truuuuue
Please dont sing certain Avenue Q songs, please...
Darn, I guess my Everyone's A Little Bit Racist audition didn't go so well, huh :(

Unless it's a fine, fine line that's pretty pg
Just stay away from that unless it’s for a raunchy comedy
I haven't had the chance to do an audition but if I did I would sing hallelujah
OOOOOOOh I love that song! x

A Human Person Named Catherine i relate
Maybe try and join a local amatuer dramatic society x
My audition song is going to be Freeze Your Brain, and I'm just going to go for it, I probs. won't get the part tho, I am a girl and it is a male part.
I'm gonna try singing Waving Through A Window cause why not? I'm a girl but I don't care.
Yes!!!! Sing what you want to sing and smash it!!!!!
I know this is kinda unrelated but I love whenever you bug your eyes out, it's hilarious and adorable.
Hahahahah thanks!?
*Insert a thumbs up here*
If I was to audition I would have to cross out these panic songs:
This is gospel
LA Devotee
Victorious
possibly Girls/Girls/Boys
Death Of a Bachelor
and the chorus of Ballad of Mona Lisa
I would LOVE to sing Panic for an audition!!!!
Lol, today I did my audition and I haven't heard back yet, I sung The Ballad Of Mona Lisa to the best of my ability!😊

I sang Adele for my scholarship audition and somehow got it? Everyone is sharing their story and I wanted to say something ignore me.

We did Hamilton in my school and auditioned with my best friends for Jefferson, Burr and Madison, we sung Washington on your side
I’m so proud of Rachel Tucker. She is like the only famous person (in musical theatre) from Northern Ireland which is where I am from. 🇮🇪🇮🇪
i have no idea what song from heathers to sing for school talent show, maybe seventeen but change poker to games and definetley not big fun?
Fight For Me!!! It's beautiful!!!!
Amy Lovatt i'm planning to use that song to audition for my school musical!
Meant To Be Yours?
Discorded UA-camr that's literally about JD trying to blow up the gym
can someone help me
im into what people call basic/normie musicals, specifically heathers.
snobs keep calling me a "fake fan" which gets under my skin, and i really want to branch out to other lesser known musicals, i've tried listening to stuff like ragtime, newsies, rent, and chicago but i'm not a big fan of them. people calling me a fake fan isn't the only reason why i want to get into other musicals, i want a musical to fall back on and obsess over if and when my heathers addiction ends. the book of mormon is pretty good, but it's not something i'll be addicted to like i was with hamilton and heathers. and that's the type of musical im looking for. even tho when the full cast recording of mean girls comes out, i'll probably obsess over that for a few months.
thank u for your time
Have you tried Be More Chill?
This makes me so happy! I'm so glad you are in such a lovely company and they looked after you when you were nervous! That's awesome :D
Amy Lovatt I am too ! 💕 we just finished the first weekends of the show i auditioned for and it was so amazing 💕
Rocky Horror Picture Show, In The Heights, Into The Woods, Heathers, Dear Evan Hansen, Hamilton, Mary Poppins, Wicked. LITERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE.
hey yall heres a tip for picking audition songs:
- something in your key
- something close to the show youre auditioning. for example, if youre auditioning for thoroughly modern millie you could choose a song from the drowsy chaperone. theyre similar in setting and style (and drowsy is fantastic) and itll be more unique than a "classic" audition song
- i know you probably want to get A Specific Character, but dont assume youll be considered for that role. this calls back to her bringing up knowing your casting type
- songs in your abilities, like belting and stuff. this fits with singing in your key
- like she said, songs currently being shown. if its Trendy the likelihood that dozens of people will audition with a song from it grows exponentially (not a bad thing, but pick the song that shows your capabilities rather than your wants)
