What if you used the chopped pieces of paper to replicate the random pages sticking out of the book? And maybe you could try finding an alternative pattern or way to add weathering so you can keep the UV light.
You could print out the page and then write over it with invisible ink, or cover the page with transparent paper and then write over it (like tracing paper)

I do this, it works. Well... but in general a very good page came out.
