      Generally inorganic or mineral acid that does not contain carbon are called strong acid..
      Example:- (H2SO4), (HCL)
      Nd acid that contain carbon like acetic acid present in vinegar (CH3COOH), oxalic acid present in tomato (COOH) are weak ones

    Why is acetic acid not a base when it has OH in it??

    • @tocaxo_xo
      @tocaxo_xo 3 роки тому +7

      it does not. acetic acid is an organic compound that dissociates into CH₃COO⁻ and H⁺, thus it’s considered an acid (weak) and it donates protons.

    • @yasirlone7385
      @yasirlone7385 2 роки тому +1

      Acetic acid does not act as a base although it contains OH group because if it release OH group then it becomes less satble means more reactive if it release proton means (H) then it becomes more stable due to conjugation due migration of negative charge oxgen to other there it is week acid but its conjugate base is strong

    Why is NH3 an base when it has H??

    • @tocaxo_xo
      @tocaxo_xo 3 роки тому

      because Nitrogen has lone pairs, which are negatively charged, making them react with positive charged molecules.

    • @siribala347
      @siribala347 3 роки тому +3

      On adding to water it forms ammonium ion and OH- ions. If it would be an acid then H+ ions will be forming right?
      Hope you got my point
      And it does not happen in all cases,if h is there it is an acid it only happens in most cases. There will also be some rare cases like this.
