This is unfindable anywhere else on streaming, thanks a ton for keeping the weird alive.
Friends and I used to see this film every weekend on 8th St in the Village (NYC) before going to the Pyramid Club and Save the Robots 😄. Those were good times!
Do I know you??? LOL! That sounds like my old itinerary! Cheers!

Aw Save the Robots were REAL?! I saw them in the film Mondo New York thinking they were a fictional outfit for the film.
I loved the Pyramid Club 💞 early 80's
Probably the biggest thing that threw me for a loop in film was finding out Anne Carlisle played both Margaret and Jimmy! Seriously, I knew Jimmy was being portrayed by a woman, yet their scenes were so well done I thought Jimmy had to a separate actor. Bravo!
Have loved this movie since my days as an 80's punk in West Hollywood . Thanks for the memories.
Hey kids ... All these young crazy punks are in their 60s now .. your grandpas and grandmas... Time flies !
Who you calling grandpa, oh nevermind 😅
I saw this movie , in my youth , and every one was in tune . Better than STAR WARS , or the rejects of sic-fi . I was hanging and dancing in " the LOFT " at Prince ST / Mercer ave . in N.Y.C. back in 78 and this movie just mix in just right . One good joint , it made me feel like i was there . I miss those days Disco / Punk , love it every day .
Some wonderful shots of 1980s New York in this ...
I can't pretend to enjoy the acting and story, but I always LOVED the visuals and style.
An old favorite and highly recommended for anyone who's into early 80's NY avant-garde culture and music. As usual in this channel the movie is in good quality but parts of it are censored (almost 10 minutes are missing here). So if you want the full experience you better watch it somewhere else :(
WHERE ?
thanks for explanation, I was just curious about the 10 minutes' differences haha
C i n e b . N e t
Has the uncut movie. UA-cam won’t let me post the exact link on here.
Also using a free or paid vpn makes the site easier to access.
@@DG-nb6fe found it - thanks!
Me and my rythmbox, I never forgot this scene but couldn't remember from what. Sweet, Thank you!
Alice, sweet alice
One of my favorite lines at 30:44 "Can I give you a lift uptown?" "No, I'm going down"
dito
At the time this was in theaters - 1984 - we were actively living and trying to create this vibe in WDC nightclub scene.
did not expect to hear this about washington of this time. but, why not?!
greatings from berlin, europe out of this time !
The appreciation I have for this work is far greater now than it was when I watched it on VHS.
The definition of an underground classic.
the soundtrack....kinda in awe really
Stunning, isn't it? God help me, I actually like some of it. And I love "Me And My Rhythm Box".
Unfortunately they deleted some parts . I don't mean to be ungrateful. It's good to have the movie online for free. The quality of the video is excellent. But abridged versions of things are a crime.
What was deleted?
@@VicMcManuswell, there are scenes that are missing. I have the movie. I can't remember exactly which scenes. But believe me, there are things missing.
@@VicMcManus Adrian's eulogy for Owen at his wake was completely cut. I remember in the film it was at least one minute long. The scene where Paul rapes Margaret seems edited to me too, and also the scene where Adrian rapes Margaret I remember she orders the two wardrobe assistants to hold her down and then scissors her for at least 30 seconds which is completely missing from this video. I'm guessing they probably had to cut the graphic SA scenes to get it shown for free on UA-cam.
Wow, that scene at the club in the beginning with The Disco Biscuits doing Me & My Rhythm Box is amazing 😂
I remember this movie from the 80s! What a wild ride!!!
I saw this movie as a school kid in a cinema in the Soviet Union at the end of the 1980s. The movie was marked as 16+, so my friend and I lied about our age at the cinema. Maybe that's why the USSR fell apart :)
Interesting. I heard Tsukerman speak at Mass. College of Art in the mid 1980s, and I understood he had made it as a Soviet emigre dissident artist. I recall him commenting that it contained many elements that would never be shown in the Soviet Union (I can even recall him saying that in so many words, during his talk, all those years ago). I'm surprised it was shown there.
@@karenfisher2322 Now, retrospectively, I'm surprised too. But one must take into account that the USSR at the end of the 1980s was not the totalitarian USSR of even a decade ago.
Best 80's soundtrack next to Blade Runner. Aliens just want to have fun, and get real high.
Holy cow I've never seen it in this quality before, only on worn VHS tapes, Nice!
If extraterrestrials did take over that part of New York, how long would it be before anyone noticed? A lovely piece of field anthropology.
Absolutely one of the most weird ass movies ever. Watch it while drunk or high and don't take it too seriously .
If you want to know what acid was like in the 80's this is the film!
I always loved the car crash of styles - New York fashionistas couldn't tell New Romantics from punks. Imagine if they'd waited a couple of years and got hold of a bucket load of ecstacy!!! Brilliant stuff.
1:17:42 Sad Fact: This lady is Deborah Jacobs Welsh who was the Purser (Lead Flight Attendent) onboard flight United 93 which crashed on 9/11.
Wow, that is terrible. I loved the character she played in this movie.
Are you serious , that's sad , fist time i hear about this .
😳🙁
Memoirs. Excellent movie I saw in 1985 at the Vahalla in Sydney.
Saved me a trip, thanks for putting up one of my favorite movies.
😃
One of those films that make you wonder if the 1980's really were THAT 1980's...
The New York art and club scene was like that, other places not so much, but these are like the weirdos of that era, not everybody acted and dressed like that.
@@fernandomaron87 me no weird.....
sniff
wink wink from berlin, europe out of this time =D
@@fernandomaron87And yet, this was one of the major bands that had just hit it big out of L.A. when this was released...

I just love it how the poor woman tries to get laid and the researcher goes like ,,duty is more important than shrimps"
I would have done the same. She wasn't very appetizing and I don't like shrimp. Sea-bugs.
@@dixonpinfold2582 She was cute
What really kills me is poor Margaret banging idiots and never having an orgasm. I know it "saved her life" but at what cost? 🤣
💯
Best line: "Well this is MY house - and in my house, shrimps come before duty."
Strangest movie ever made. An undiscovered classic.
You need to watch Eraserhead.
I’ve been around the N Y C art scene, not the clubs. Nice to be able to avoid people like these. The most sensible character is the alien - gets its fix and gets out of Dodge. I do like this work.
i would LOVE to meet someone from this era of time, its so intriguing and euphoric, new wave and post punk oh how i wish i lived it ...
Well, most people weren't like the people in the movie. Not many people lived that kind of life. But some people did.
@@RichardKoenigsberg I understand, I should have been more specific the fashion and culture during that time was quite fascinating, the junkies… I would have helped them
It's amazing how the "Punk" culture & music was so much like the "Beat" culture of the '50 in trying so hard to be "counter/anti culture" hip :D Punk just had more flare
This film rocks! It looks like something I would have made in High School with a VHS camera and linear editing.
Wow. Have wanted to see this again for decades !
Great movie but the number of ads is kind of absurd and super jarring. I get the impulse to try to make something from posting these, but you’re probably making very little from this and having like 9 more ads than any reasonable person would put in a video isn’t going to dramatically change that. If you want to post old movies and make a little money go for it, but I wouldn’t count on becoming UA-cam rich by posting 40 year old B-movies with 15 ads on the video- which seems to be the plan currently.
I love this movie, and the soundtrack so much. Thanks for the upload.
OMG!!!!! Thank You ❣️ I Love this film SO MUCH!!!! I haven't watched it since the 80's - I used to own the videotape version of this. I have had a chaotic life & don't recall what happened to the videotape. THANK YOU ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
🖤🖤🖤thanks for uploading. Much better quality than the website from which I watched it for first time (eventhough some scenes were cut-off😕maybe too intense?)... they're watching us!
About 10 min were cut from the original film. Why?
Most likely copyright.
Thank you so much! This has been on my Wish List for decades!!
NY hasn’t gotten any saner
Saw this in the theaters in the late 80s and we were told to go on LSD and nd watch it 😂😂😂😂great time
Jimmy makes today's emo kids look like stock brokers.
Saw this at The Orson Welles Cinema when it came out!
Wow I've haven't seen this movie in such a long time ....I first saw it in Washington DC at the Georgetown theatre afternoon matinee 1982. It was weird and still is ...
good movie
I love the neon lighting, but guessing not many Oscars got taken home LOL
I'd rather watch films like this than most "award winning" films. Cult films and B-movies can be a lot of fun.
Yeah 80s neon lighting is so cool. That’s why I love Blade Runner so much as well even though it was going for a cyberpunk feel.
Ogden theater 1982 with several punk rock friends
Love those days
Un auténtico placer fue ver este film
Thanks! I love this flick!
While happy to have this film free to stream I just wish it wasn't so edited.
saw LIQUID SKY in the 80ies somewhere in a German cinema as the first of a late night double feature show, the second one was NEVER MIND THE BOLLOCKS . I leave a big Thanks for the upload, the movie and the soundtrack ist a time document ++ still thrilling ++for sure in my top 30 movies ever !!
..
infos about te missing and shortened scenes of to the original film, see the comment of Joey Garza, 4 days earlier
The Great Rock n Roll Swindle or Nevermind the Sex Pistols, Here’s the Bollocks, either one is a great cinema watch!!
This video is 10 minutes shorter than the full film. Why was stuff cut?
i think because of explicitness but i wish they hadn’t cut stuff out
I think you mean the herring taco scene?
Finally its on UA-cam
Strange movie
There’s 10-minute difference in runtime between original film and this copy. Anyone know what’s missing?
I noticed most of the graphic rape scenes have been cut.
Loved this movie totally off the wall 😁
Definitely entertaining
I thought this was pretentious clap trap when I first saw this in the 80's and I still do now. Worth watching for the 80's nostalgia.
I quite enjoyed it. thanks
I don't think this is the original.
Best movie I’ve ever seen!
Saw thios movie as a kid. Always loved it.
Were NYC punks really that mean? I find it hard to believe they would have been able to stand each other if they were really like that.
Was really hard to enjoy the movie. 9 minutes shorter AND ads every 5 minutes until the end. Seriously now?
Smasher ❤️🖖🏼
Censored version
The argument scene between Jimmy and Margret is good but the actress playing both roles sometimes has Jimmy sounding the same as Margret.
Greatness!
It 's very actual : about a extreme experience of dramatic disidentity looking for a social and interior escape . A opera breaking all moral and moralistic rules , remaining lucid whille the sense of realty and limit colapsing . Difficult to indentify the role of alien watcher , it seems maybe the psychic mirror of the humans in this traumatic journey .
Amazing experimental intense movie to watch and reflect on it .
Most extreme of the most intense Cronemberg 's movie .
A cult , off course .
Is this a different edit than the original?
Original duration is 1:52:49
Saw this in a alternative movie cinema 42 years ago in downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma. Apparently theater goers thought it was viewer participation movie because they were loudly making comments during the movie and nobody seemed to mind.
All "downtown" movie theaters were viewer participation in the '80s.
Doubly true for alt and college theaters.
awkward, is how I would describe this movie. very, very awkward.
Well this is an experience. The quality of the acting is almost entirely somewhere beyond awful. But occasionally one of the cast can actually normally act and it's like the actors are in two completely different films. And the music is painful. It is probably trying to be futuristic but sounds like something Silver Apples put in the bin back in 1968. And yet, the whole is so bad, so odd, it's fascinating. Recommended, sort of.
It is so aweful, sound, acting, absurdity, that it comes back around to being awesome in a horrifying way, like watching a train crash into a clwon car and all the clowns come exploding out in gore, you can't look away!
I love this Film. It just moves too slow.
Such a brilliant movie- probably one of the most artistic and original movies of all time.
A lot of hard language and adult situations were cut from this. Overall, you still just the gist of the movie.
There are 2 kinds of ppl. in the world, those that have seen Liquid Sky ( the Cool Ones) and those who haven’t.
My Fav!!!!
Nope. Pretentious beyond my ability to tolerate. The only scene that matters starts at 1:27. And that's a stand-alone.
...capolavoro!!!...grazie grazie grazie...
I saw this in the LES when I was 15. I thought this was so cool and I was soooo cool for being there.
UA-cam censorship has ruined this movie
i sort of knew otto and bob brady a tiny bit--not quite as entertaining (bad/good) as The Room, but i enjoyed it none the less
the premise and dialogues are more or less dumb but the style is to kill for
POTENTIAL VIEWERS BEWARE....this ISN'T the full movie. This is missing about 10 minutes. Avoid. Don't watch movies that have been edited (for whatever reason).
thx
Electroclash anyone?
love!
I remember seeing this on VHS.
ce credit track est génial c’était trop bien à écouter merci
This movie has been censored
The scissoring sex scene at 1:19 is cut out of this video T^T
It wasn't scissoring. Paula Sheppard lifted her dress and sat on the other chick's propped up knee.
I saw this at The Ritz in Philadelphia in 1982 or 1983.
OK.... I came here for Boris Midney's Make That Feeling Come Again and couldn't care less about anything else. Too bad it gets a rather short exposure in this film.
Took me 30 years to find Midneys song so i could have a copy. Brilliant track.
Love thisssss
Yikes, is that what the music is like in the future?
It's better than what's popular now, sadly.
Future music from original ‘Roller Ball’ and ‘Demolition Man’ are,…. notable.
I was 11 when this came out yet did not know of it till now
i seriously don't know how most survived this decade
New romantics movie
What the ? That's different.
❤❤❤❤❤ Cool!!!
