I was curious how difficult this could be, your instructions and supporting video are extraordinary - comprehensive clear instructions. Very, very nicely done!

Excellent POV video. I was thinking of doing this myself, but after watching your video and the knowledge you have, I want to have you do it! I have sent in the mail in form and will await your response.

Tried replacing the battery on my series 3. Three batteries later and not one would consistently charge. Sometimes they would, sometimes they wouldn’t (even though it knew it was connected to a charger) Sometimes it would say it charged to 100% but die in 20 minutes.
Would have kept it if I could fix it, but I ended up just replacing it with a series 8. Much better anyway.

BTW, why disconnect the screen other than maybe a slight bit more room to work?

Because it’s one less thing that can pull on the fragile flex cables as apple used very little solder on its joints, but it can definitely be done with the screen on, just not work the risk in my opinion

My god, this is supposed to be easy to do? I thought I was good at fixing stuff, but if the general consensus is that this is easy, then I need to rethink that about myself. I know that I would screw this up. So many steps and places where things could go sideways.

It's only easy after you've done it enough times.

@@FIXDPHONES Evidently. I should have known. It’s the same dynamic I experienced in my journey to master brain surgery. 😃

Yes, nice job and very neatly done! Please, what size and type screwdriver. Too many inconsistencies online beween triwing, tripoint, and Y type. I think I need a 0.6 or Y000 tripoint/Y type, these two types seemingly the same, and the two sizes being the same or very close. BUT, I saw in another video a guy using a Y 0.8mm. Unfortunately Mobile Sentrix doesn't carry it. And, I think Mobile Sentrix labeling theirs tripoint/triwing is wrong. See here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_screw_drives#Tri-wing Your help is greatly appreciated!!

Mobilesentrix has them all, from the individuals all through the kits like the ifixit kits and triwing/ tripoint can basically be used interchangeably as apple has appropriated the other, kinda like them calling a fuse a filter on their schematics.
