And I got a PHEV, for the same price as a Lexus hybrid.

This car is definitely not for many people but it’s 100% the car for me. I’m a hatchback lover, I’ve had the Corolla iM, CHR, Civic Hatchback, Prius, and now a stupid Honda Fit (my get me finished with college car). This is what I want when I’m done with school but I probably would go for a certified used one to save some money.
I'm with Andrea but always appreciate both Andrea and Zack's viewpoints. It's just me and my husband and the backseat has enough room for my 50 lb dog. I have been looking for a smaller car than my RAV that does not feel cheap and this seems to fit the bill perfectly, with Lexus refinement and reliability. Thank you for your excellent reviews!
As a DINK couple living in downtown, we test drove the CRV, Accord, Rav4, Prius, NX, etc. The major considerations were that it should be more of a SUV height due to aging parents occasionally visiting and it should park relatively easily. At first the Honda HRV seemed perfect, but no vents or power in the back, so after we saw the UX, it was a done deal. You could max out a Toyota or Honda, but you'd still suffer from more road noise when a base UX is all things considered the same (feature and cost) but also nicer to sit in. There is a reason it's extremely popular in Europe.
Andrea is right, it is a very good for a couples with no kid but want luxury features and quiet cabin, , many people just don't want to drive a big car like my wife.BTW, the gas efficiecy is not as good as the corolla and prius hybrid.
Hi Andrea - I totally agree with you on this. I’m single with no big pets or kids and I want a very compact, reliable, hybrid hatchback. I was really impressed with the 2025 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport Touring but I want more luxury. I just went for a test drive and loved it! This car is not for everyone, but it’s definitely for me. Thanks to you and Zach for the great reviews. Take care!
Ok, so I have a 2022 Lexus UX250h Luxury edition and I absolutely love this car. I do like all of the changes in tech and the increased HP in the UX300 but the price for the Luxury trim has gone up by CDN$6,000. Ouch. Two other comments, although not rated to tow I did find a hidden hitch made by a company in Seattle, Washington, USA that makes a great hitch to allow for a bike rack. Also, be careful with that lovely pad on the dash when cleaning it as it scratches VERY easily and you can’t fix a scratch without replacing the entire pad. Not cool Lexus!! Finally, I drove an NX350 two weeks ago as a loaner while my UX was in for service and I prefer my UX.
9:20: “specific use case.” Good point, how often is any rear seat occupied? 5 or 10% of miles driven? Or less? How often occupied for a longer trip? 1%??
Agree with Zac, very specific use case this is not a car for everybody. Even if I fit into this use case I d rather get a sporty sedan like a Lexus IS.
3:50 I would have been real tempted to drive under that ladder. 🙂 Enjoyed the review and the car seems a better value than the competitors mentioned, especially with Lexus reliability. Thank you!
Andrea right on but why would someone go to review a small SUV that everyone who buys one is for that reason and cut it down for being small . I am on your side the UX300h AWD is top notch one of the best rides out there and very well made . I bought it knowing the back seat is decent but not the reason to buy the UX . Your husbands review is like doing a review on a Cadillac Escalade and the whole interview stating " It is just too large , who would buy this it is too large". I think you should reshoot the whole You tube and state " If you just want the bet smaller quality SUV this is the one " . Check out the break hold feature at stop lights it is great and also the boot or trunk is larger you can lower the floor and it expands and there are also hidden storage spaces along the rear walls they pull open. Again review the whole SUV for all its great qualities and leave out the back seat not being like a stretched limo ( as we all know when we buy one ) . People who own UX 's know they use the front seats 1100 percent of the time and the back seat maybe 2 % at the most . The problem with going to the NX it is not the same great new engine and ride as the new UX300 . But if you live in the USA insist and pay more for an AWD and the Premium as we call it here with an upgraded screen , the heads up display , and wireless charger is the best option over the base or the Fsport . Thanks love your reviews they are consistent I hope you get my point we all know it is a smaller SUV that is why we buy many of them !
Always enjoy your videos! I agree with Zack on this one. No doubt the folks who own this Lexus love it and rave about it, but I bet it’s just their personal car without any passengers. Front passenger seat is meant for my handbag, kwim? And why bother with heated rear seats? Rarely putting passengers back there let alone full grown adults 😅
I have viewers who reach out to me and say they fit car seats back there. It's amazing what you can fit in a small vehicle. My Dodge Colt had friends who were over 6 feet in the rear seat. Everyone just wants bigger now but you can easily get away with smaller if you are on a tighter budjet and just want an entry level Lexus with amazing fuel economy. I really enjoyed driving this for the week on my own or just with a second person but many use the rear seat often believe it or not.
Andrea is right lol😂 but it's true. What I've always liked about the UX is that it's a compact car for people who don't need a lot of space. The thing that I hate so much is that a lot of times when it comes to manufacturers they assume that everybody in North America wants a three-row SUV and that's just not true. Like Mazda for instance with the cx70, instead of giving us something more similar to the cx60 that they sell in Europe they basically just gave us another cx90 cuz they assume that's what everybody wants a car the size of the cx90. Ridiculous.
I don't care for backseats at all. I actually prefer 2 door cars generally but in the SUV land that's not really a thing lol. Also I love small cars for driving in a city. Vancouver roads and parking spaces are small. I used to have a Lexus NX and that thing is way too big for Vancouver imo.
Great funny video Andrea! I am not crazy about the grill but interior looks great unfortunately backseat is not good for tall people unless someone may not care about that. cheers Andrea! 👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻☕️☕️

My wife's ux had a tire blowout in the canyons of California AT NIGHT. It took us hours to find a towe truck and then tire cost. I eventually put toyota chr's spare wheel in ux's trunk.

Just a small note in favour of Lexus - In Canada, they come with a 6-year 110,000 KM powertrain and safety restraint warranty over the competitors' 5 yr/100,000km warranty on powertrains. Lexus and Toyota have 10-year 240,000km warranties on their Hybrid system. Some competing models, BMW for example, only have 8y and 160,000KM coverage.
I like this car! Consumer Reports has this on their top list for reliability. The others compared here do not make the list, for that reason, choose this one! That’s if the back seat and storage are not an issue.

While I like the appearance a lot, a couple more inches in the rear along with a real spare tire would go a long away in securing a sale. Also a Premium line should come with a premium length warranty, in place of espresso machines in the lounge.
Nice car. Disappointed to hear it has run flats. Could be a deal breaker for me. For sure a niche car. Would work great for an empty nester couple as a second vehicle.
I would prefer not to have a car with runflats either but they cam standard on my Lexus NX350h. To be honest, I would never have guessed they were runflat tires … I have had had non runflat winter tires that have been harsher than the 350h’s runflats.
I was genuinely interested in this but thankfully for Motormouth, they informed of the dealbreaker: runflat tires. No way around it. I could replace the tires, but then you're screwing with how Lexus tuned the suspension for them. Trust me, been there, done that with several BMW/MINIs owned throughout the years.
I bought this car for my wife! I don’t like the adaptive cruise on this Lexus model. It doesn’t have a touch sensitive steering wheel so when it prompts you to touch the steering wheel you actually have to move the steering wheel physically!!!! All other Lexus models have a touch sensitive steering wheel so you just need to gently touch the wheel. This makes this feature unusable with this car in my opinion. Who wants to jerk the steering wheel every minute? We just never use it. Other than that it’s a great car! Great gas mileage ! I love it! We have the top FSport 2 package. Edit: I have a NX350h executive trim if we really need space. 😎
Don’t you know that adaptive cruise has nothing to do with autonomous driving? So why do you put you hands of the steering wheel? Make absolutely no sense.
@@markus8484 Of course you put your hands on the steering wheel. The prompt will never come on in my NX model with my hands on the steering wheel but the UX model prompt will come on and you have to actually physically jerk the steering wheel for it to sense that you have your hands on the steering wheel. That’s the difference. In the UX if you have your hands on the steering wheel but never jerk it then it will stop you in the middle of traffic. It thinks you are not there.
@@TechJunky777 Yes, Toyota’s older system uses force instead of capacitive touch to check to see if you have a hand on the wheel. Shove a full water bottle in the crook of the steering wheel and that will fool this Toyota “feature”. Use this on my 22 Prius prime on the highway and have driving very long ways without having to touch the wheel - do be prepared to take over as it sometimes wants to take the exit but in general, on well marked highways with gentle curves - this trick works well
I didn't mind the size at first. But I got rear ended last month and repairs have been a nightmare! It knocked my backseats down!! Definitely don't recommend or even feel safe it in anymore. If the accident was a bit worse, I can't imagine what would've happened :(
I prefer the NX 350h over this one. Both are pretty similar though. I think they should offer a hybrid sedan instead of this one, since the lower price on the UX doesn't seem worth it for the limited space.
I would love to get one of these. Perfect for my needs. However, I wonder when the exterior will get updated? 2026? Do you have any information on updates? Love your reviews! Have been waiting for this one. Happy Miata RF driver here!

The UX is too small and that cargo floor is way too high for most people. I would be worried about the reliability of the new engine/transmission combination. No thank you!
Ux is awkwardly price, sure maybe its slightly lower, but once you start adding packages lexus becomes more expensive especially when you want audio and other tech packages, Lexus actually becomes more expenisve overall compared to Audi Q3 and BMW X1, which both latter vehicles have better performance. Use this on my 22 Prius prime on the highway and have driving very long ways without having to touch the wheel - do be prepared to take over as it sometimes wants to take the exit but in general, on well marked highways with gentle curves - this trick works well
@ interesting…what type of water bottle? Just a small plastic water bottle? I’ll give it a try next time we go on a longer trip. Thanks 😊
Lexus won't be doing that because most people want crossovers that are hybrids, not sedansin North America
The 2nd row legroom reminded me of CX30 :)
The CX-5 would be a better choice or Honda CRV.
I am with zack in this one, and i said it. This car is nice but only works for certain folks.
I would love to get one of these. Perfect for my needs. However, I wonder when the exterior will get updated? 2026? Do you have any information on updates? Love your reviews! Have been waiting for this one. Happy Miata RF driver here!
I have an RX just for me and my dog. That UX is tiny. I really wish Lexus would come out with an SUV coupe like all their competitors
I always wonder what makes this a crossover rather than a hatchback. It seems to compare more to a Golf than a Q3. Is it less roomy than the GTI?
14:51 Ty for warranty info !
probably crown signa is a better buy except for no premium badge? they kinda have that similar crossover vibe. i think crown signia is also overpriced, but crown signia seems to the better version of it with more versatile spaces and similar features. i know crown signia is more expensive, but seems to be better deal for me.
The UX and NX are both very cramped inside for the class. Lexus needs a roomier compact crossover below the RX
That's why I purchased a Toyota Venza
Run flat tires are awesome
First one to say that, most can't change a tire. So I agree.
The6 ride rough, very little sidewall flex.
Had run flats on my last BMW …. Couldn’t wait to dump them
My exact experience in a 2015. Couldn’t believe it had Goodyears while built in Leipzig. I like Continentals.
Can you just change them out?
@@emilcasas2707 …I think the point I was making is that you pay for them as part of the purchase price ..then you have to deal with compromises such as noise on the highway…after living with them for a month I replaced them at a cost of $250,00 a wheel
Does it provide panoramic view for options?
It is good for a retired couple who once in a while take grandchildren for s ride
Good for Dinks too👍
Jack u understand u r reviewing a small cross over SUV. Specific to the user. Just as a camary won’t be compared to a Prado.
This is a great city car, for short retirees. Or a couple with a second car. That's about it, and thats why you don't see many on the road. So many better Toyota options to choose than this. I've test driven it, and IMO its not quite Lexus inside or out.
There are so many on the road here in Vancouver
@@andreaspencer9813 I really love the reviews you guys do!
You really do an excellent job!
You are my go to for honest information.
Still, I feel the smart move is for people to buy a 2024 Toyota VENZA before they are sold out.
@@andreaspencer9813 I live in Vancouver and i don't notice that many on the road. They sold 2683 units in 2019, 2520 in 2020 and 3284 in 2021 in all of Canada. I think we notice the vehicles we like more vs. the actual % of vehicles they represent in the market.
@@andreaspencer9813 Same in Toronto, in my neighbourhood alone I saw quite quite a few of them.
I'm a big guy who needs room to roam. I'm with Team Zack.
this lexus vs RAV 4?
Rav4 is way more cheap build but reliable as well. If you do not need the space of he rav4, get the UX for sure.
The UX is too small and that cargo floor is way too high for most people. I would be worried about the reliability of the new engine/transmission combination. No thank you!
When you you could get by with a corolla/ corolla cross type but want a luxury offering
Looks like the Mercedes GLA 250 sits on the same price range with the sport model and comes with more powerful engine and additional features.
Thank you for your review! You two always provide excellent information!
The smart money will buy a 2024 Toyota VENZA before they are sold out.
The Copper Crest color looks like a Shiny New Penny [ yuk 😢☹️ ] !! Otherwise, it's Gorgeous 😍!!
Why i don't see you guy do the video about the Mitsubishi car?
Mitsubishi barely sells any vehicle....it's literally even more garbage than nissans. The brand is literally dead in north america.
Hmmmm. Wouldn’t the RDX be a competitor here?
The RDX goes up against the NX, one category higher.
There isn't a standard 360 parking camera where the other entry luxury comes with.......Its like Lexus just didn't care.
I agree with Andrea just cause I don't want to agree with Zack :)
A little too small, looking at a 350nx hybrid.
Oy-- that color combo 😮 to each their own i suppose!!
First upgrade- Change the tires to non-run flat.
That's wasted money though consider the price of the vehicle you are paying for....
@@441meatloaf If you have ever driven on run-flats, they have a horrible ride and are expensive to replace. NO!
@@PookGuy24 They are designed that way to withstand the weight........but buying a new set of tires just to get rid of run flats isn't a priority for most.
@@441meatloaf Exactly. I can do whatever "I" want, not other people. My business, not yours.
Longer than the XC40 and the Q3. But with less space, less power and lower ground clearance. But hey, you get, what... a 6-speaker Panasonic sound system in this? Brilliant!
Better economy. Different strokes.
@@ktpinnacle Yeah, there's that at least. The fuel economy is excellent.
@@karachanot only better economy. Xc40 and Q3 are good if you lease them or sell soon. If you prefer a reliable, well build car that you can drive a decade, than you HAVE to get the UX. It has a better resale value as well.
@@markus8484 Maybe when I retire, it's a solid advice for sure. For now, I usually lease or drive 5-7 years and trade in. I'll never drive anything past 60k miles anyway. But that might change in 10-12 years or so, we'll see. In the meantime, I do think the Lexus is solid, but they can do better in terms of the overall cabin experience, sound system etc. We know that the drivetrain is good.
@@markus8484there's that false information. Audi q3 has a very reliable ea888 engine and bmw is also a very reliable brand in 2024. There is nothing at this price point that UX offers that is competitive.....
like 197 !
It's a nice car. But it's pricey for a city runaround vehicle.
A person spending $47k plus tax for a car shouldn’t care about fuel economy.
Small is better.
Looks like a Kona
Had it for few years. Sold out. Small inside not that comfortable.
For empty nesters? Oh yes… without rubbing my derrière to the asphalt … agree with zach on money… Camry? I do not want to sit so close to the road..
In the sub compact luxury category Car and Driver ranks this car overall #14 (!!), the Volvo XC40 is #1. But the Volvo - with 25% more power - is more thirsty.
UX300h is still a slug at 7.7 sec 0 to 60.
Lovely car but back seat is a dealbreaker.
Yes. Just a normal regular bottle of water you would get at the grocery store There were quite a few accessories you can buy for a Tesla that uses the same force. This is the same method Stay safe and pay attention but think you will be surprised at how well this works
Q3 is 58k
It’s a very expensive Toyota Corolla hatchback.
You will never be a Lexus customer if you really believe in that. Thats not true!
You can see what supercars Lexus produce.. One of the best brands
It's not a Lexus if it doesn't have a Mark Levinson system.
Wrong side of the bed? 😂
Too expensive for urban run around. No run flats.
The folks that drop off these vehicles to you to review should make an effort to keep these demos clean. Every single review I’ve seen all of them are filthy. So much for presentation .Guessing the former detailer in me is still OCD.
I would purchase an EV for that kind of money.
Run flats… dealbreaker
If I am getting a second car it is going to be a Mazda Miata MX5 not a UX. I have a 2023 Venza and I love it. Don’t really need the Lexus badge. Sorry.
yup way too small
A Toyota Corolla Cross with more luxury and sound deadening. Worth the extra price? You decide
Bet nobody pees on your lawn dude!! 😂😂
If lexus doesn't redesign the ux soon, then next year's acura adx won't eat up only ux's sales, but the nx's aswell. Ux and nx are way overpriced for what it is. Long-time lexus owner here. Won't buy another one ever.
UX is only bout 5 years old. Why do you need a redesign? To impress your neighbors?
@markus8484 what made you think it's about impressing neighbors? It's the asking price for the size of it. Redesign to make it more competitive. We bought our ux because got it for 33k with 2500 miles on it. It's not worth it more than around 35k in my opinion
I can't believe Lexus wasted the development costs on what is going to be a low volume, eventually cancelled Lexus. What a waste.
Toyota crown signia is a better choice than this. Same Lexus built quality and bigger size.
Crown signia is way bigger than the UX. If you don’t need the space, it is not the better choice
