More like this, please! I don't think I'll be cooking that one any time soon, but I love learning about these kind of things.
I just did, not that stinky imo. If you opened canned bamboo shoots and eaten bamboo shoots before then that's what they smell like to me. So good though, omg!
AvenueX cooking show!! Forget the dramas … okay, don’t forget the dramas, but just make all the foods that show up in the dramas. Please showcase more of your culinary talents.
I didn't know I needed this 😱😍 Please make more food related videos like this!! talking about the meal and stuff surrounding it just made this video soooo awesome
This was so nice! So cozy and fun watching you cook. On this cold evening I could feel the warmth of the soup. And it's always nice to learn something new about another culture.
I like this content! It's fun, different and it explores cdrama on another level. Your description makes it sound terrifying yet I'm curious. I come from a place where a lot of food is considered "stinky" - durian, sambal, etc, so I don't think this can be that bad.
Lol! I clicked on this so fast! I don't think I'd ever want to try it considering I can't stand food that has an overpowering stench but I love watching you cook!
Woah, didn’t expect this type of content going into the video but I guess its individuality, being a different type of content from your normal one, mixed with some normal stuff we get from your usual videos (like the part in which you reviewing something) which is exactly what you do in this video but it’s the food instead of the drama this time, that give this video its own opportunity to shine! That’s the only best way I can put it. I now kinda look forward to another video like this one.
I would like more videos like this plz . I wanna know IRL version of food in depth from dramas .
Loved this. So fun! Would love for you to share all the Chinese cuisine that is popular in China ❤
Loved this because for this past few months I feel like there were so many dramas where the female lead would be like oooh I love luo si fen and then the guy would be like no eww get that stuff out of my house but then because he loves her so much he would make it for her or buy an entire box and I couldn't help but think whoever is the marketing person for luo si fen is clearly doing a very good job because every other month someone is eating it in a drama 😅
Would love more food related content like this!
We get to see your kitchen! Love it! Interesting setup, the microwave on top of the stove area. Big sink! 😍
The first Luosifen I bought was the HaoHuanLuo brand. The stink mostly comes from the pickled bamboo shoots, as you said, but I love the taste! The snail soup itself, I wasn't a fan, maybe because I love the other ingredients so much. After I discovered this, I threw away the snail soup and vinegar from the pack and use all the other toppings to eat with congee/white rice porridge 😁 If I ever visit Liuzhou I'll definitely eat myself sick of pickled bamboo shoots.
The luosifen noodle itself I eat with minced pork soup, like Singaporean Bak Chor Mee Soup.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!! Its related but like a spin-off of the main content. BIG FAN! more!
Yay, I love seeing these drama related culture/clothing/cookery videos, please more! Now I want to try Luosifen too.. but I think I'll cook it in my garden on a woodstove, LiziQi style >v
This was lovely. You are such an elegant person. Very lovely to see such refined elegance on youtube ❤️ I hope you had a nice meal 😀 😊 it looked delicious 😋
haha your first Mukbang!! I enjoy the vid! I like Luosifen as well! Will have to try this brand!
I like this type of content in between! Hope to see more
I love this, Avenue X. We are noodle crazy family, but I have not tried Lousifen. We will look next time we are in Chinese supermarket!
I really like this format, it’s interesting and relaxing and feels like home/friends/personal, so I would definitely watch this type of videos again !😍
Ahhhhhh 🙌🙌👏 never thought we would get chance to see your kitchen! You must be a good cook, so many hobs at the induction stove 😍
I learned about this noodles from the drama "Put your head on my shoulder"
Was so excited when I saw this video of you cooking Luosifen 螺螄粉
I'm on the side which enjoys eating it and isn't put off by the smell.
Just so happened that after watching the scene where Li Wei 李薇 is trying this dish for the first time in 'New Life Begins | 卿卿日常' I had just bought a packet. Cooked it up and it absolutely hit the spot 🍜
How does it taste like?
@@funnybunny3823 the taste is a combination of spicy, sour (from the vinegar & pickles) and the flavour packed soup base, leaves you wanting another bite... Well for me anyways 🤭
@@naomitopp sounds like yummm. One of these days I'm gonna pluck up my courage and buy it.
@@funnybunny3823 hopefully the next time you're at your local Asian market, you'll be able to find a packet to try 🤗
Thank you for introducing us to this. Am finishing up eating it as I’m typing this. It’s a fantastic and…healthy (should be right?..with all the fermented toppings) option when you crave something soupy and umami and quick and don’t want 500-600 calories from ramen. I’ve gotta say…I was expecting stinky tofu-level of pungency and it never happened 😓. But I’m from Vietnam. The land of fish sauce and fermented shrimp paste. If anyone likes this, you should absolutely try bún mắm. You’ll have to hunt it down at Vietnamese restaurants though.
Please continue to provide us with mind opening content that showcases Chinese culture. This, when you dissect song lyrics and poems, tangental tidbits on Chinese history, traditional attire,…are so much fun and just…lovely to learn about.
Love that made this video! I'm obsessed with luosifun! Eating it regularly and not realizing how stinky it is for other ppl 🤣 we eat those bamboo shoots by the jar
Forget the stinky smell lol, it looks delicious! Have a good day AvenueX
haha as a fan of "Smile to life", will you make coca cola chickemn wings some time too??
I love the diversity of your videos. They are educative and have extra "spice" 👌
Love these random Thursday content! Would really like to know more about the food and culture. Keep it utterly random, so it'll feel like a mystery box!
this video was so fun! and informative about different foods!
A few months ago I found it at the end cap at my 99 Ranch (Asian super market). The English translate on the package is “Snail Noodles”, so of course I have to grab it because I’ve seen it in multiple drama!!! I still haven’t determined if it love it or just like it. I ate it twice already and have the third package left…….def the pickle bamboo shoots is what scare my children from the kitchen 😅
Kids have more sensitive senses, I won’t blame them
Thanks for clarifying that this is the "river snail noodles" mentioned in "Love in Time." I thought maybe the contained escargot, that is, real snails!
Ooh, we don't have a Chinese supermarket in my town, but we do have a Thai one, that does have stuff from China, Korea and Japan as well (but not as big a selection). I wonder if they might have this?
I love this kind of content, please do more!
you can find it on Amazon too
@@nyz7971 Nope, not where I live.
@@nyz7971 I guess I could technically order it from Amazon US and have a shipping cost three times the cost of the actual luosifen kit... Which would quadruple the price. Yeah, not doing that
Where do you live? Every suburb has a Chinese supermarket where I live
Well, you probably have a big Chinese population then
The brand you use is my favorite for Lousifen. I've tried a variety of them but I always come back to that yellow package! Love more content on chinese instant food and how to cook them!
I love this! It would be nice if you could make more food related content in the future.
I want to try it ever since I saw it in that drama!! Thanks for showing us how to cook it!
"stinky" 😭 i always thought it smelled really nice 😂😂😂 nice video haha
LOL ... thank you for this video. I picked one up a few months ago as it was being mentioned quite a bit in some of the C-drama i watched, ... but I have not yet tried it due to fear of the unknown (stench). Watching you cooked it made it less ... unknown. LOL. Might ... give it a try .. soon... ish? 🤔
we discovered luosifen during the pandemic, and really enjoy it. the smell doesn't bother me. the chili package is deadly, advise to pour a bit at a time and taste test before adding more. the packaging is insane!
btw, nice kitchen, avenue X!
This was a nice change in video topic. I need to rewatch some Li Ziqi videos now; it has been so long since I last seen her on UA-cam. Hope she is doing well.
I really appreciate this. Do you know how to make Xinjiang braised noodles with tomato. The actor Wu Lei was talking about these on a livestream with a clothing company. He called it jyjamen (like the name of the Korean noodles which I love) but it sounds totally different. I love food! In Japan, they have cold noodles called Chyuka Ramen - Chinese ramen. That was the best summer dish! I am sure China has many varieties of cold noodles for later when the weather turns.
I remember when Li Ziqi made these! She made it look really delicious. You also do. I really want to try this one day.
I love the new vibes and will watch it any time. Maybe you can have EAT & WATCH DRAMA video when while you're enjoying your meal make comments on drama 😜
You cook like a professional well-done thank you for the demonstration.
What?
@@nela3986 its a compliment, since you seem confused.
To me she seems good, because I'm not that good with cooking. I love to learn from others also get very impressed by cookers, I really love to learn from others on how to use other method of cooking.
Thank you.
Thank you.
LuoSiFen. Yep, Tan Jian Ci favorite food! Always hear him mention it on his vlog, interview, & variety show.
Didn’t expect a cooking video from avenuex
I have loved eating lusifen since I watched Xing Fei in Put Your Head On My Shoulders. It only smell stinky to me if I leave it out for more than 10 mins after cooling. I actually like the smell while it cooks. 😂
But I also love durian and a lot of people can't stand eating them. I normally can't stand the smell of bamboo shoots but it works so well with all the other ingredients in this.
More videos like this please! Seeing these noodles in so many dramas actually made me try some from my local asian market. I got the tomato flavor and it was really good 😊
More videos like this! Love it!
I LOVE Luosifen! I think the same brand that you are using has a Tomato based version which is my ALL time favorite. Definitely worth a try. It is quite easy to find in my Chinese supermarkets in Canada.
That tomato based one is my favourite too! Soooooo good haha no I want to go to T&T and buy a pack.
@@grammarnazi12 It's totally addicting. I make sure to stock up every sale! Now that it's winter it's the best meal to warm up with.
Glad you made this video!! Had been curious about Luo Si Fen for a long time now. What’s makes it so smelly? The bamboo, or combination of veges and sauces? I grew up with shrimp paste and preserved mud fish in my daily meals so anything racid is rather tasty. 😂. I need to find this noodle at my local supermarkets!!!
I heard the smell is mainly from the fermented bamboo shoots.
wow!!never thought I'd see a cooking video on your channel😆loving it😍
I gave this another try as I think I made it incorrectly the first time. I’ve been through like 20 bags in the past few months now. Love it! I add extra bamboo shoots for the texture. The smell isn’t so bad to me, but I also eat a lot of fermented seafood and kimchi so…😅
Great video 😂 and nice kitchen btw
Please final review for Lighter & Princess 💜💜
I like durian, stinky tofu, fermented fish, shrimp paste, and rare aged cheeses...but this luosifen smell still needs getting used to. I don't think it's strong for me per se, but it's VERY unfamiliar haha. I also have 5 packs of these noodles in storage so maybe it just takes getting used to? Like an acquired taste haha.
More videos like this pleaseeeee avanue X!
it's different and i like it please do more, if I could I would make some of the foods u recommend but , I'm still a kid so luosifen is OUT I live with ppl
I love Luosifen! I learned about it by accident, and it's my favorite food now! I'm not not bothered by the smell, but I can't stand stinky tofu smell. I like this content too. We have a peanut allergy in our family, so I'm glad the peanuts come in separate packet so we can just throw that part away. Would love to see you try more foods like this.
happy to see new content mixing with the drama one.
Love this! But I will pass on trying it 😂😂
Thank you AvenueX but in my country Uganda,we lack most of the ingredients in the video. I would really love to taste some Chinese food in the future In Shaa Allah.
Anyway are the noodles the same as spaghetti?
Oh my! First to like and comment ☺️☺️☺️ I like new life beggins. All dramas of Bai Jingting 🤭☺️😅
I hope you make more videos like this. this was fun to watch. I enjoyed it a lot
Please please please 🙏 more related videos that they eat in different Chinese dramas. Ancient Moon cakes and modern types.
i've heard a lot about luosifen bc of jun from seventeen, he really likes it lol. it was interesting to see it made, i didn't realize it was an instant noodle type thing. maybe once i graduate and move out on my own in the next year or so i'll finally try it 🤣
😊我一般会把粉煮熟,单独烧开一锅水加入汤底配料,菜包配料,不放酸笋和醋,青菜,米粉,放辣椒油,乘到碗里,最后才放腐竹和花生。
Hot chili oil, sriracha and sesame oil are divine elixirs! They can make almost anything palatable!
This was such a fun video to watch. I've been trying to hunt some of these down to try. Hopefully I can find some soon
I was thinking of trying it..yes after watching too many Chinese dramas, ha ha. How do 😊you air out your house in the deep of winter Back East?? Will I be able to find it at T & T. Thanks for sharing you Luosifen adventure, from Vancouver. We just got a heavy dump of snow 2 days ago, how bad is it over your side?
So far not too bad bad next week we will have-28😂
@@AvenueX123 bought the exact brand of Luosifen from a Chinese supermarket this morning. Husband did not want to try it so I just bought one packet. I will try it when he is at home and then open all the windows to air out the house…ha ha. Will keep you posted. Keep warm and watch out of the black ice.
Love eating this. Did you notice that your pot is extra clean 😅😂🤣
Luoshifen! My favorite comfort food at late night. More food related videos please~~~~~
Honestly, it doesn't really smell stinky to me. It has the funky fermented and bamboo shoot smell but it's not that strong imo compared to those jars of fermented tofu/beancurd. Just tried it and it was seriously delicious!!!! So good thank you!
I will try it but definately will add my Jamaican twist on it... Lol... Chinese seasonings are a bit much when it comes to the smelling part so I'll have to dumb it down a bit...
As I watch this drama, I keep hoping that a super fan will compile all the recipes of all the dishes on the show! Everything looks refreshing, light, and scrumptious. We have our own version of sour bamboo, which I'm already not a fan of, so I can only imagine what it smells like when it gets pickled lol!
Not gonna lie, I'm super curious about that deep fried hairy tofu 🤣 if anyone knows how it tastes like, please describe it to me! 🙏
I recommend video from channel ‘Blondie in China’ , she ate hairy tofu when visited anhui. In other video, she also tried luosifen in chinese restaurant & the instant one at home
Ahhh I was hoping for a verdict in the noodles !
I've been eating this Luo Si Fen before seeing in dramas but this is my go to for stressful days!!
I got the introduction of this LSF which was translated into River Snail Rice Noodles from I am The Years You Are The Stars, and Legally Romance, that raised my curiousity what kind of smelly things that made some people hate it..😅
Both Love in time and New life begins are some of my favourite dramas of this year .. idk why tho when I hear luosifen my mind subconsciously relates it to snail noodles 🤦🏽♀️
Luosifen is awesome. I does smell strong but as long as you clean up afterwards, it's fine. I don't even remember when I last had it in my home town when I was little, but some brands don't quite match the taste that I remembered.
Well, yeah, the bamboo shoots thing does stink. In Taiwan, they use it a lot in their famous beef noodle soups. And a whole street in Taipei smelled as if folks there peed all over the street. And just like Hong Kong's stinky tofu the smell goes away up close. And it is nice. A little crunchy, a little sourly and often, chillified. And full of liquid. And this luosifen sounds like the Cantonese "loh she fun" - mouse noodle, which is a slippery, short pointy tailed rice noodle. Like pasta, it is best eaten with gravy or soup. In SE Asia, it is extremely popular with fishball noodle (dry or soup).
I watch an spanish guy who lives in China, in one of his video he ate the noodles and he liked it, now I wanna eat the noodles too.
By coincidence, I am watching episode 18 of New Life Begins, and there it is! (27:15 mark of Eng Subs version)
Ohh I LOOOVE Luosifen!!! My husband gave me one when we started dating and now is one of my comfort food! Next time we'll visit family in Chine I'll have to try "the real one"
Interesting video! I see Li wei and Chen Jialan eating this and it looks delicious haha, but I think the stinky smell is def a no for me. 😂 I just love watching people eat well~
Almost midnight here n I'm hungry 😑
Gotta go to kitchen making instant noodles
Awesome, I want to try this!
I want to try this...
I quite like luosifen! Got curious about it after repeatedly encountering it in contemporary set webnovels with housemate/neighbour hijinx. Not as bad or as stinky as I thought from everyone's complaints and the label of being the "world's stinkiest noodle dish" tbh. That may be due to the fact that I am used to eating a lot of fermented vegetables though, haha.
I guess I'll try it one day 😁
Oh....now I wanted to try. I'm sure I'll enjoy it. 🤩
Nice Kitchen, Awesome Cooking vlog.. !!!
I've tried looking for River Snail Noodles in Tokyo, but haven't looked in the right places.
NGL i started eating this because of a drama as well - and now?! omg it's like crack! i need to eat it at least once a week. anddddd my family hates me every time LOL. also can i take this to mean you're from Canada?!
Pls do this kind of video more avenuee
This is my favorite brand, luo ba wang brand (螺霸王). I like the original but it's too spicy for my kids, they like the tomato flavor, and it's more sweet. I have 2 girls and 1 boy and they love luo si fen, my wife thinks it is too stinky. You did not mention that the soup base is made from river snails. A tip; save the noodle water, drink it if the soup is to spicey, the startchy water will help dull the burn, also it is good for your plants.
I have like 5 packs at home. My mom sister and I don't really care but my dad can't stand the smell. At least I rent, and my landlord doesn't mind either. I would throw out the bamboo shoots and add everything else, and I would also add, tomatoes, sausages, and onions.
It's stinky but it must be good right? I would love to try it
Came to know about this snail noodles from 'Put your head on my shoulder' lead female favorite.. also second lead from 'Legally Romance' enjoyed these noodles in secret.
In Singapore, we love suan la fen.
I love this content!!!
adding tofu and enoki are must
