this is a long comment and it doesn't have much (...any) advice about bullet journaling specifically but hopefully some of it will be helpful? congratulations on starting university! 1. contact your RA or equivalent if you’ve been given their contact info; if not, email whoever on your uni’s housing page looks the most relevant. ask them about the dorm - what’s the furniture like, how high can the beds be raised/are they bunk/loft beds, what’s the closet situation if there are any, are there any shared kitchen areas. ask for pictures! once you know what your room has and what you think it’s missing it becomes easier to decide how you’ll organize things in it. 2. if you’re going to have roommates (it sounds like this is your first year, so you almost certainly will), and you know who they are, get in contact with them. there’s certain items that you may be able to share; it’ll also help to get an idea of what they are hoping for in a shared living space. 3. minor medicine - cold medicines, low-level pain medicines, sleep aids like melatonin, bandaids, and antiseptic gel. people always forget antiseptic. 4. dorm beds are ass. get one of those mattress toppers. if the bed’s height permits it, something that can function as a nightstand is helpful (i have an intensely cheap wire…thing from ikea that i think is actually office furniture). don’t break the bank on bedding but make sure it’s comfortable, durable, and easy to clean. if you have a topper, make sure to air it out every so often - in my experience dorm mattresses are made basically out of plastic, so if you sweat in your sleep that moisture has nowhere to go and you’ll need to dry the topper out or it’ll get mildew. 5. get something to eat with, something to eat off/out of, and something to drink from. if your uni has a meal plan, you’ll figure out pretty quickly how much you want to rely on that for food; a pot, a pan, a knife, and whatever stirring utensil suits you are a good baseline for personal cooking. an electric kettle and a small rice cooker are both, imo, very good ideas. 6. get one of those collapsible laundry-drying racks. you’ll have stuff you can’t put in a machine dryer, there will be times when everyone on campus is trying to use the same dryer, and you can keep it set up and put a board on top and use it as storage if you want. 7. there are a lot of packing lists out there online (bed bath and beyond has one, target has one, i think ikea has one, basically any chain store that sells primarily home goods relatively inexpensively should have one; there’s also a lot that aren’t compiled by stores) and although a lot of them are kind of designed to sell you things that you won’t really need, they can be handy. your uni might also have a packing list somewhere on its website; if it doesn’t, others will. you can comb through them and get an idea of what lists you want to make. 8. honestly, a time like this is probably a good one for just getting down and konmari-ing your possessions. if you’ve got clothes you never wear anymore or makeup you never use or things you just can’t really see coming along with you in the future, thank them and let them go. it makes packing a lot easier. 9. what are things you like to do in your spare time? plan around that. if you read a lot, bring the books you like to read and maybe some you own but haven’t read. bring your art supplies if you do art. bring your gaming supplies if you play video games. bring whatever you use to organize those things, or buy whatever you will need if you're going to have to organize them differently. 10. whatever space you’re living in right now, what makes it feel like home to you? what can you bring along or buy later that will help reproduce that feeling? dorms are inherently temporary situations but while you’re in one that’s your home. so ask: what is comforting for you to look at? to touch? to smell? to know that it’s present?

The one mistake I made was filling up the car as full as I could with everything I thought i wanted, then realising about 2 months in I hadn't used half the clothes, read a lot of the books, etc. So definitely go through carefully thinking about what you are/not likely to be using all the time so you don't have a lot of dead weight to carry back home in the breaks.
I do this weird thing where after I finished organizing all of my stationary and all of my entire room and adding labels and stuff, I start to watch videos about it cause Ill feel really accomplished xD, I just finished my stationary room and my bedroom!!
For a long time...about 14 years ago...I thought I had a problem....spending too much money on pens and pencils and markers.... but today... after watching this video...it's like a justification for my addiction. I try my best not to collect so much because it can get overwhelming...but it's just so satisfying!!! I'm gonna organize mine today... and I bet I'll find more space to buy more.

So satisfying...saying this from another stationary obsessed...loved it so much, still expanding my collection, everyone who knows me always commented that my stationary collection is such an obscene amount for one person to have,always saying don't buy it u have more than enough u don't need all this... but hey you can never have enough right??😁 some ppl collect stamps, coins, antiques, etc, so we're stationary collectors..lol...ps-i have the exact same pencil pouch i take it with me wherever i go since where i keep all my everyday necessities and its stuffed to the top my colleagues always crack up whenever i take it out from my bag...😇😇..also been a subscriber since around 250k and u have inspired me towards bullet journaling its the best it gives me a chance to be creative and utilize all my stationaries, so now i can tell ppl that though my collection is huge i use it all for my journal...

I know it's hectic to have so much stationery, but I've always been obsessed with colours and writing and drawing mediums! I wish I had your variety of colours and styles of pens. I took my hubby to typo the other day and I went nuts! Lol, when we walked out he said he's never bringing me back there again, hehehe. Thankfully he's a softy so afterwards he said we can slowly build my collection.

I work in a book and stationery shop, Amanda, and honestly, we don’t have HALF the products / liners / pens you mention in this video, and it’s so frustrating because the pen addict in me needs my brush pen fix! This was a great video though, it was really helpful because it gave me some ideas about storing my collection.
Recently found your channel and love it! I do quite a bit of journaling but it's mainly Bible journaling as I found bullet journaling to much for me. You've given me serious stationery envy! To organize my pens I prefer deep, tin boxes. I don’t mean the plain ones. I love the ones that come with vintage designs and are easy to open and close. I usually try to repurpose tea tin boxes. They are very cute and easy to move from place to place. Thank you for another great video🌸

Thanks Amanda for sharing how to neatly organize your art supplies! I've always kept mine in their original boxes/tins and they take up so much room! I will definitely be ordering some of those containers so I can actually see all my colours! It definitely does free up space!

for your favorite/most used washi tapes, i recommend using a jewlery hanger ( the tree kind. ) i used that for mine and it works well!
I work in a book and stationery shop, Amanda, and honestly, we don’t have HALF the products / liners / pens you mention in this video, and it’s so frustrating because the pen addict in me needs my brush pen fix! This was a great video though, it was really helpful because it gave me some ideas about storing my collection.

To organize my pens I prefer deep, tin boxes. I don’t mean the plain ones. I love the ones that come with vintage designs and are easy to open and close. I usually try to repurpose tea tin boxes. They are very cute and easy to move from place to place. Thank you for another great video🌸
