Such a SIMPLE AND EFFICIENT video...Thanks a lot, I dive for a while, I am an Advanced and Rescue, however did VERY VERY little shore dives in my entire life.
I also dive in South East Florida, and would love to meet with you and do the same sometime.
    Thanks for the great video.

I like that you did the walk in w/o fins technique. Gives you a lot more control and stability in the surf zone. I always taught my students to be slightly turned to a side while facing the beach, that way you can quickly look over your shoulder to see any waves coming in. This was important in SoCal because you could have a larger wave come in at times and knock you around. Also, inflate the BC enough so you are just floating when you are putting fins on. Use the waves to your advantage.
And then when coming back in you reverse the process; swim into chest deep water, pop your fins off, stand up and walk out with checking the waves every so often to make sure you don't get hit and tumbled. The whole time you (going in or out) you keep your Reg in your mouth so you can breath in case you get knocked over. Once you are out of the surf zone you can switch over to snorkel and swim out, on the exit just keep it in until you are clear of the waves.
If waves do come in while you are walking in the surf zone turn to the side and lean into it (if not that big) or drop under it (go under the wave and pop up on the back side) and regain your footing. You don't want to body surf in full gear.

All good advice, especially for California. In fact, more than once in SoCal, we dove under surf and followed the undertow out because it was easier than fighting waves on top.

@@BeachDiver, yep you learn to use the wave motion/surge to your advantage. As it moves in the direction you want to go (out or in) you kick, and when it ebbs back you streamline yourself into it. A two steps forward, one back method. It works.
