    Whoa. It's been baaaad day. Then I found this video. Although I'm just learning Hebrew and could only pick out a few words, I found myself crying.
    Then I scrolled down and saw what the words meant and realized that I had just been praying this earlier.
    Thank you.
    Thank you.

    From Psalm 27: (Es Panecha = Your presence)
    I seek your presence, God.
    God, hear my voice when I call.
    Be gracious towards me and answer and me.
    In God's presence my heart seeks.
    I seek your presence God.

    hey man, i also (like many others) didn't know that non-Jews listened to that music- great and hilarious job!!
    i guess you already know what that song says but i'll write it down anyway, first in Hebrew in the order of the song, not the original Verse- then the translation:
    אֶת פָּנֶיךָ ה' אֲבַקֵּשׁ
    שְׁמַע ה' קוֹלִי אֶקְרָא וְחָנֵּנִי וַעֲנֵנִי
    לְךָ אָמַר לִבִּי בַּקְּשׁוּ פָנָי אֶת פָּנֶיךָ ה' אֲבַקֵּשׁ
    translation in the next reply- not enough room in this one... :-)

    It would seem that ES is related to ETH. If you've ever heard people from eastern European countries (which is where the Jews first settled in Europe and split off into Ashkenazi jews) trying to pronounce a -th sound, it sounds like an "-s" sound.

    So You're catholic? I always thought you were a nice Jewish boy. BTW do your parents know that you listen to Jewish music ad do you know what you sing or lip sync?

  • @morehn
    @morehn 11 років тому

    i don't know what you mean by correct and who sets the standard? there are dozens of dialects among all groups of jews. sfardi, yemenite, ashkenazi, etc. among each are many varied pronunciations.

    right, but there's the original Hebrew in which our ancestors spoke in the days of the Bible and the second temple until we went to exhile.

    first of all this song is very good, it is obvious that you worked hard to make it but as a hebrew speaker i have to tell you that first it is "Et panecha" not "es".
    and one more thing, i couldn't understand most of the words because you said some words too long at the beginning, or too short for exemple you said the word "libi" but you said it like "Liiiiibi" and it was hard to understand, but its a very good job for someone who doesn't speak hebrew!

  • @nitush1000

    ES is ET but i actually understood that this way of pronouncing the letter TAV is almost the right way when ther's no dot in the letter...the original Yemenite Jews who spoke hebrew- the closest to the original way say it in a similar way if they would have sung this song it would sound a little like ETH..

  • @morehn
    @morehn 16 років тому

    i was really responding to the gal above me trying to claim that es isn't real hebrew.

  • @nitush1000
    @nitush1000 11 років тому

    translation (not accurate with alittle help from google..):
    i ask (seek) for your face, g-od
    Hear, g-od, when I call with my voice, and be gracious unto me, and answer me
    In Thy behalf my heart hath said: 'Seek ye My face'; Thy face, g-od, will I seek.
    (Psalms Chapter 27)

  • @morehn
    @morehn 16 років тому

    how would you know it's et and not es?
    cuz your father told you?
    his father told him es.
    yemenites say eth.
    are they wrong too?
    somewhere down the line the pronunciations haad been altered, but it's probably actually wrong to say anything other than eth, being that ibn janach, a jewish medieval grammarian taught wha parts of the mouth the letters are supposed to be pronounced from.
    et has nothing to do with any letter except for a tes, according to him.

  • @morehn
    @morehn 11 років тому

    huh? not all yemenites speak the same way. even they have dialects.
