The government had little feeling for communities anywhere in Britain. i am from the Wirral and our Mersey coastline was developed with huge chemical factories, soap making and oil storage, plus the Manchester Ship canal. The river was terribly poluted. I coud say that the area was destroyed for the Half of my family moved there from North Wales and Liverpool too has a huge amount of people from Wales. The reservoir ironically was serving the interests of many Welsh people. It is industrialisation and the growth of urban populations that caused such projects, not some innate hatred of the Welsh. Now the area is a site of outstanding natural beauty with wonderful wildlife. Today it is time that Wales benefitted from it's resources and water should be nationalised for the people of Wales.
Hello, I visited beautiful lake Vyrnwy today for my birthday. We often went there for a picnic with my late mum's family, they lived by the Cedig, relocated from the village, Ty Uchaf and Gwreiddiau. Your song is so beautiful and haunting, I would love to buy it and possibly use with my little Lake Vyrnwy video
The first time I went to lake Vyrnwy was about 1969 I still go there now at least once a month I start my day trips there I have taken so many friends and relatives there and they all love it although it’s very sad what happened to the villages it’s such a beautiful place
The more I watch the destruction of these homes & villages really sickens me, they are so beautiful, and in today’s climate they would all be a tourist attraction, people love visiting little villages in Wales. Lovely vid & music 👍 My heart goes out to the families that once lived there. 🙁
They were well looked after though, the majority of the villagers were OK with it because Liverpool water board paid for new homes with electricity, hot and cold running water and indoor toilets, they also built a brand new church, brand new school and huge luxury hotel. The villagers also were employed in their hundreds. The reason a dam was built was to prevent cholera and dysentery in kids in Liverpool.
The reservoirs and castles the English built are far more attractive than some random little village in the middle of nowhere. There are 100s of other little villages still left. People needed clean drinking water in the late 19th Century and it's still a vital water supply today.
No. Didn't know that. By the surviving photographs it must have been an idyllic village. It must have been so traumatic for the villagers. And it all happened again in the 1960s where they flooded a valley near Bala. More homes gone, they even cut off villages with flooding the railway line.
That was my ancestors village. My GGGrandfather was the parish clerk, (as was his his and grandfather before him) and made responsible for the removal of all the graves when the new churchyard was built two miles up the road. 37 families were relocated, mine tenanted on the local 'squire's' land who was also the political candidate. 10 years later my GGgrandfateher stood against him and was subsequently evicted.
A beautiful sounding sad song . I wish if you put the translation in English for people don't speak/ understand Welsh...I'm learning a bit of Welsh words ,though ! Lol.I am Japanese. 💜💜💜💜🥁🎵🐉🎤🎶🏴💕💞

In the sixties over half a million ppl in East End "slums" were rehomed in soulless Tower blocks. So here we are crying about a few dozen ppl in Wales.
500 people lost not only their homes but also the community that had existed for hundreds of years. Families split, up the community destroyed and a village stolen and destroyed. The Welsh spirit is something very few nowadays understand. Those tower blocks you speak of where modern and a huge improvement on what people had before. The people of llanwddyn lost their homes, history and ties to the past in exchange for houses that where not much different to what they had before minus the link to their past. I donr expect you to understand community spirit as I can't imagine a community that would want you.
So so sad . What England wonts they will take . Now they won't lay three enormous pipes running from England into wheels and to take our water 🌊💦 and this I have always sead that's all we have left our beautiful scenery and our beautiful water and of course our ancient language. 🏴🏴🏴🏴

Such true words. Profit, shareholders, is all the governments worried about.

One of many atrocities inflicted upon Cymru by the Saes (english). All for the people in Liverpool. Destroyed a village for water in Lloeger.
