So far I love mine. I owned dodge caravans for years and this drives much nicer and has less road noise. Drives straight and the suspension is stiffer. Nice creature comforts and I like it.
Reminds me of the Dodge Omni and Plymouth Horizon hatchbacks, which had competed with VW's Rabbit. Why? Chrysler originally used the VW 1.7L four-cylinder in these from 1978-82.
Not a bad minivan. Those chrysler minivans are certainly needy, and consume a lot of oil, but my 2010 Routan with the 3.8L v6 has 170,000 miles. I just replaced the trans 8k miles ago. As long as you are vigilant with the maintenance they do last.
For those complaining that too much chrysler, at least the DRLs are enabled on all models and have the switchback feature to make it more Audi-like… but then the Canadians have these switchback DRLs on the chryslers too…
Total garbage. I recently bought the 2011 Routan. It has 80K miles on it. It will not start. It has a new battery and new battery cables. Took it to the dealership to get it fixed. I am not kidding, they said, "Sorry, we have no idea what is wrong with it and it can not be fixed. Do you want to just donate it to charity for scrap metal?" TOTAL PIECE OF GARBAGE.
Too bad the Routan is discontinued after the 2014 model year, because it is unreliable, piece of junk. VW will no longer offer minivans anyway, because it doesn't sell well. I do like minivans, but this one is not even going to come back anytime. Kia decided to kill the Sedona, but instead redesigned it for 2015, in order to keep up with the competition.
@@TonySoprano-p6i Haha! What makes this even funnier is that I have a B5/3B Passat that is at 250k+ miles and a B6 Passat at 280k+ miles. I think any car can last if you take care of them. Modified/tuned them both too (and another B5 before these ones). I love my VAG stuff but they definitely require more attention than the Toyota's I also own.

It appears that alcohol has affected your comment, I can't make any sense of what you're trying to say, but you mentioned alcohol in regards to the VW so I'm bringing that back to what you were babbling about

They changed almost all of the logos to VW, except the DVD player, where it says Dodge instead.
Bought a new 2011 Routan, still have it with 138k miles on the Pentastar V-6. Been a great van and plan to keep it for a while.
Steve V. Do you still have it? I’m looking heavily into getting one

@Raynee Bruggeman different suspension! different body panels!
3:32 Either MotorWeek used footage from a Grand Caravan or VW put no effort into modifying the entertainment system software.
lol my wife has one, its a dodge grand caravan, took it to the vw dealership and they sent me to dodge, only dodge can read the codes
Too much Chrysler not enough Volkswagen.
😅😂🤣
VW had no equivalent vehicle in their line-up, hence the need to use a model from another manufacturer.
Maybe 2 negetive make a possitive

If you have the 3.8l, They actually require SAE10w-30 oil NOT 5w-20. Use the heavier oil, you get longer engine life without much fuel economy loss.
What happened to the trans?
@@aayonce4 It's a Chrysler. That's what happened to the trans.
My Kia van still has the original trans with over 300k miles! 😂
I wish Volkswagen stayed in the market.
@Vanool35 the routan had the best rebadge of any car before. its much better than the dodge/chrysler siblings and a lot better than the eurovan.
I thought Volkswagen put a VR6 in it...
I have this van, it’s great and reliable
2011 VW Routan we have with 28,000 miles!
Now Das Town Und Country !
😅😂🤣

They should’ve just kept column shifters.
It was basically a Chrysler Minivan with a Volkswagen front and back.
I had a routan of 2009 i selled this year for the toyota highlander xle

The only Canadian built VW (to date).

Were can a iget Routan details?
And now VW is almost out of family MPV business. The Sharan won't get an update. Why VW won't bring the Multivan to the US?
We got the VW Touran and the VW Caddy in Europe

hahaha!... VW calling the Routan "unreliable"... the irony!
@@3U36 No irony, VW have made very reliable cars, not that Americans would know that because you guys hate diesel cars😀

how to change antifreeze in this car?
do they even sell these in Europe? it's very sad that there are cars still available with pushrod engines.
I only saw one VW Routan in Europe. The rest are chryslers
They should have imported the Sharan instead
All the cool features of the interior are great,
while the outside is very boring.
Funny they talk more about the motor but how about the transmission
@awada85 because that was shot from the 08 grand caravan review i onw a 2010 routan they both say volkswagen
this was before the Atlas came in the picture
I basically call this car a Dodge Caravan wearing a French maid outfit. however I feel that this car rides much nicer than the Caravan
Why didn't they give this stow n go
VW thinks it can double its sales...with this?!
Норм обзорчик...
Haha I've been watching it since then too. And I agree
Heard those squeaky brakes
because its just a re-badge....
@Vanool35 Right
I’ve seriously never seen this car
I see them every once in a while, they didn’t sell too well.
I rode in one before years ago.
oil burner
Sante Fe Zero Railyard Personalization Restomod
Captain Morgan NOT My Guy
@Vanool35 um.... ok
Too much Volkswagen not enough Chrysler.
i really hate it. it waste too much oil no leaks nothing idk where the oil goes to waste i had to change oil every 2500 miles due to that issue
Looks way too much like the Dodge, how sad
So....it's basically a german wannabe....come on now! This is just a re-badged Chrysler/Dodge minivan......eww! Bring back the VW Eurovan!
In Europe we got the VW Sharan, VW Caddy, VW T6 and the VW Touran as Vans. I dont know why they dont sell them in the US.
its ugly like a caravan, only uglier
