Before Paul takes the hand of the Princess, he lets Chani know it's just a political marriage. He marries Irulan then goes home to Chani. Chani gets to be the Empress in everything but name.

It was very cool. The baby will be born physically normal. But she will be born with all of those memories already in her mind. She won't be the blank slate that the rest of us are at birth.

They are fractured and potential futures that Paul couldn't piece together until he completed the ritual and took the Water of Life. So he was seeing a mixture of possible futures, and futures muddled by dull fog, so to speak.

I’m a huge movie fan and usually have a high standards for movies, and holy shit I went to see this in theaters and came back to watch it 3 more times they were right this movie it’s one for the books.
So the author of Dune wrote the story mainly as a way to criticize the idea of mythic saviors like the Lisan Al Gaib, it’s all just a story made up by the Benne Gesserct to control the people of Dune. Paul isn’t really the chosen one, because there is no chosen one. The Fremen are just so brainwashed by this prophecy that when they see Paul do something amazing they take it as a sign by god. There’s a ton more about dune that more intelligent people have picked apart but I love how the film shows that Paul is just playing a role to get what he wants.
Sorta.. but Paul is legitimately the Kwisatz Haderach, who the Bene Gesseritt have been seeking to bring stability and peace to humanity.. effectively a mythical being who they believe they can control. It dramatically blows up in their face, but it isn't as simple as Paul is a "fake Messiah" given what he and his descendents achieve (this is more touched upon in Messiah and God Emperor).
