I honestly love just how realistic this situation is depicted. It sound exactly what would happen in real life.
most of the radiation doesn't take that long to clear up, it only takes 2 weeks for it to be mostly safe to go outside again
but everything else other than the radiation is pretty accurate

I liked the ending. The author should do a five years later book, with Greg and Chloe dating in college, Rodrick finally making better music, and a bunch of other cool stuff. I'd buy that book without any doubt.

I like how weirdly good this is, like i wouldn't say it's the best (especially when it gets a bit on the nose) but it actually has a grounded approach to a nuclear attack where the government is still in control.
Like i fully expected it to turn into The Road but instead the whole plot feels like a real novel that would be released and studied by people about how a country would respond to a nuclear attack if it was relatively "small scale" like something that would get a sort of gritty movie like Where The Wind Blows of Grave Of The Fireflies.

How in fuck's name can a Wimpy Kid fanfic depict real world situations like this so well and tackle subjects like racism and nuclear war and have it all feel like an actual Wimpy Kid book like what the fuck
This book covers a heavy topic but I like it. Its interesting as heck and is NOWHERE NEAR as adult and sus as "Greg's Furry Adventure" (which I hate with a burning passion btw) and I think its cool.

this is on the tamer side of diary of a wimpy kid fanfic, not much swearing or any innapropriate stuff which is rare in diary of a wimpy kid fanfics. I think this one was interesting to listen to.

Well, they’d have to pay those people with… money, something that is very scarce, presumably (evidenced by the stock market crash)
Well they need to hire architects and firms to design buildings. With cities destroyed, there's basically no money to hire architects.
Yeah but there was clearly ways other people like Greg’s mom made money, if there actually wasn’t any money this would make sense, but people were clearly still being paid. And also if nobody could pay anything, I don’t think the government would evict everyone

2 months ago… my school had a shooter and i was in recess so it would be obvious where we were so we hid behind a little place near our school and i looked up and saw something drop from a plane and had a silhouette of a bomb but luckily it wasn’t what my crazy mind was thinking.
