Times have changed. Back then you had an AMG engine, today performance comes from an AMD (graphics card in a Tesla). A speedy UI on the screen is more important today.
For those who didnt know. All AMG Motors are Handcraftet like in this Videos, only AMG. All other Mercedes Motors do the machines, like in every other company, so dont think, mercedes motors are Handcraftet, thats wrong.
Who filmed this was horrible the camera is constantly moving all over the place and on the face, back to engine, to the face, back to engine of the builder instead of just showing a steady camera, I feel dizzy!
we used to have these fulfilling jobs in Australia . Until all our factories moved to Asia because our governments encouraged a property boom to make costs of doing business ludicrously high > now the only jobs we have is flipping burgers , cleaning toilets , Barista and driving for Uber Eats
No matter how efficient, clean or high technology on making the engine. If the design is crap, it is worthless. Mercedes, BMW and Audi are known for it.
With the turbos placed on top of the engine, and the heat being absorbed by the valve area near the top of the heads, I wonder if that engine will become an oil burner, due to the heat baking the valve stem seals. That's what's wrong with the BMW turbocharged V8 engines. A tremendous amount of engineering, with a very obvious oversight.
BMW uses junk seals. Old turbo cars didn't even use valve stem seals on the exhaust valves. The hot V heat does cause the valve cover gaskets to fail prematurely. It's a big job because of the direct injection, all of the injectors and fuel lines need to be removed in order to change the gasket. The later motor looks like a dry sump engine for an SLS. not a current AMG engine
