READ THIS: I've never told this story until now. First off, my name is Taj and I directed this video. I heard the song by chance and loved it so much that it gradually became agonizing to listen to and not marry the visuals that were looking for light inside my mind. Music videos have allowed me to express myself in a myriad of ways. In this case, I was in a relationship with someone that accused me of being emotionally unavailable or lacking HEART. Her words stuck with me because I felt she couldn't be more wrong about me. "Im very emotional. I have a massive heart" is how I responded to her critique.... all via text message from the office I often sat in pouring my heart and emotions into my craft. She replied... "goodnight" and my bedroom light turned off. I felt horrible. Not because she was right. But because I'd discovered the real tragedy; she wanted me to treat her the way I treated my craft...and I didn't know how. So... when I heard this song... I called a friend that worked with Tank, and said, "If Tank can make it to my house tonight, Ill shoot this video for free". He agreed and 12 hours later, we'd created a visual that expressed the opposite of two fading lovers texting each other from the same apartment. Lastly, Lauren Spencer edited this video. She's a good editor, but I hired her because I knew she desired affection as well. Don't we all? What you just watched is the first and only edit. Lauren poured into a void that we both understood well. (typing this from my office...)
