- On this day we visited the beautiful city of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Just like the rest of the island, Mayaguez is a great place to visit. This is a short drone video of some of the buildings downtown where we stopped on the way to Las Marias. In the future I will be spending more time in this area. Look for it during my next trip to the island.
Music by: Rocky Duran. He currently lives in Las Marias and a new album is coming out on/or about September 2018. Just in time for the next Christmas season.

Now in 🗽👍.in 1969 in Hostos high.i was there..also Wilkins ..Velez...yeah the singer.
I love living there from 1956-1960! I was a child from 7-11 and I loved it! My Daddy guarded the Missle base down there. I wish I could find any of my friends that went to the Seventh Day Adventist School on Los Mesas back then. My teacher's name was Ralph Williams and his wife's name was Martha. Some of my friends were Dickie Dirksen, Sharon and Ingrid Rogers, Shirley Rudisell,Diane Judsi.I would like to reconnect with them if anyone knows of their whereabouts! David Boutwell is one friend too!

Hi Ovi. I enjoyed the video and the beautiful songs,i love this kind of music,it brings back so many wonderful memories. My father had old tapes with this music,when i listen i think about him and my childhood it feels my heart with so many emotions. Thank you for showing so many beautiful places like Mayaguez,i used to visit when i was younger. I'm frm Anasco, but i live in Worcester since the age of 15. Thanks Zoraida. I love this music. A lot of my family members either played instruments or sang. Now my baby sister is singing too. I did pass through Añasco last week when on my way to Guanica. In the future I do want to visit every town on the island. My bucket list...

Thanks. I will ask him where they are on sale on the island. But because these are older CD's (10-12 years) they may no longer be available. But you gave me an idea, to show the CD, probably at the end of the video. I do know that a new CD will be available around September. The CD is done, but my father did not want to release it to the general public because of the hurricane and decided to wait until this year. He did release some to a few vendors in his area (Mayaguez and Lares) before the hurricane. He tried to pull them back after the hurricane, but the few hundred copies he distributed sold quickly.

Elaine, thanks. These are older songs but a new CD will be coming out about September of this year. I know he normally sells them through stores in Mayaguez (Mall), San Sebastian, and Lares but I will ask him where else they are sold and will let you know. Thanks again.

Ovi : You have so many great music selections especially from your Father's , but that website you provided really sucks , it only lists some Navidad selections ...PLEASE can you provide to your listeners the song titles and /or how we can buy them ???
Unfortunately Jeff, that website has the only available CD's. And the only site that will mail them. Most of the older music is no longer available anywhere. My father is aware, but he has the masters to all his music. He may use an online service in the future and make them all available that way.
Jeff, as soon as I return to the states I will post the name and album of this song.

Great videos Ovi...Are there any restrictions on flying drones in the municipalities of PR ?
Only if you are inside the five mile radius of an airport. But I use the FAA app called B4UFly to find out any restrictions. Some municipalities are outside of that and safe to fly. Saludos.
I had a bad experience in that city I met alot of people of Mayagüez who were arrogant and indiferent with me and suffered prejudice as a musician studying in the music school in Mayagüez in favor of native musician because I was originally from out of town. I find the other adjacent towns to be friendlier and more down to earth than Mayagüez yes there are some mayagüezanos that are nice but there the rudest and haughtiest people ive encountered in the west coast.
