Seriously only 5 rocks!?! 😑😂 I’m usually slow at painting / creating art so I would have only got to paint 2 if I were doing this project with someone else. Love all the designs you both came up with!
You are so outrageously entertaining. It has been fun to learn about different mediums while creating art. You've helped me have fun, not taking myself too serious and enjoying the process of my journey. Just so you know your style of teaching never goes out of date, I am 70 years old and just started watercolor painting one year ago. I look forward to your notifications because I know that I will be encouraged, learning and having a lot of fun watching the two of you. It is very evident you enjoy each other's company.
I am so saddened that you are experiencing such a people right now. But I know without a doubt, but the two of you will come out on the top side of this. I eagerly wait for you to set up shop again to enjoy your humor your tenderness and your joy. Blessings to you too during this holiday season and I look forward to seeing you in this coming year
The kit might be okayish if the rocks were nice shaped smooth one rather those oddly shaped ones. They look like they went to the beach or back garden and painted them with white paint. hmm this cash grab for people with really young children.
I always got my rocks for free - in the woods! For some reason I always used watercolor and was always upset when what I painted wasn't visible. I never had room to paint my designs. Also it was really hard to find flat, big, light colored rocks in the woods. I loved digging them up and collecting them more than painting them!😆 Lesson learned - I didn't put much effort into rock painting. Thanks for bringing back the complicated memories and feelings I have for rock painting! 😅
I’m with Steph, the noise of that brush on the rocks was dreadful. But the rocks turned out super cute!!! The dark truth about rock painting: the process isn’t fun but the end result is very cute
We used to do “rock painting” when I was a kid. Only we didn’t have access to decent-sized rocks, so we used to paint broken-up pieces of the driveway that went through our neighborhood, and we didn’t have paint so we used Crayola crayons. It actually worked fairly well.
The prime controversy in the art community: cheap art kits 👹 Next they'll come out with paint a stick, where they give you paint pots and a bag to collect sticks with
Lol I had a weird health day yesterday and slept in super late today which made me feel kinda down but then this video was here and I could not stop laughing. Also I love how Steph’s little Halloween bug friend came out in the end even though he had a rocky journey there. Also as someone that has a backyard that probably has rocks in it… brb time to start a daring business venture.
As always, Adamo making changes to the rules for himself. :) I think I was forced to paint many a rock in daycare when I was little. Now that you guys have been initiated, have you heard of melting crayons on rocks? More daring, more dangerous, but the designs can come out more dynamic and shiny! Smooth rocks work best. I used to pick mine up from the shores of the great lakes.
This IS an outrage. I remember, for art class, we just grabbed the smoothest rocks from the ground to paint on them. FOR FREE. WE DIDN’T PAY FOR ROCKS BACK IN OUR DAY. ((Says someone in their early 20s)). Still, great content and (rant?) review on rock painting! The more we learn. ✨ PS, the r look like weird Air Clay-
I used to work at The Works. They sell rock painting kits that are 2 for £10 it always baffled me that people would buy a box of rocks and sad tiny pots of poster paint. Just buy some decent paint and find some free rocks outside!
I have done rock painting! I also grew up in a beachy area so we did shell painting very often. Clam shells are the best for it. So big and mostly smooth!
Hullo you two! I enjoy watching your videos and seeing how wonderful you are with each other! I have also purchased a rock painting “kit” and your rocks looked as if they were simply picked up off the ground, they were primed and ready to paint! The rocks from the kit I purchased were raw or just grey. They were very smooth as if they were cut down from a larger rock so they were basically disks of rocks to paint! Thank you for sharing your time painting rocks with us. I have every hope that you will progress to even fancier rock painting and find true joy doing so. Please take care, be safe and have a lovely day.
Rock painting kits really don't need to be thing. Its just such a waste of resources to package and ship them. I've painted river rocks a few times and put them in the gravel bed in front of my apartment, but people always take them within a week. I guess I could take that as a compliment... but its sad.
I love rock painting! I either get them free at the creek by my house or if I want super smooth ‘fancy’ rocks, I get them at the tile/flooring store, comes in a sheet about 12” square like a mosaic for $8. The rocks are cut flat on top and polished smooth. Perfect little canvases. Mostly use posca pens, some acrylic gouache and a clear, exterior spray sealer.
Oh no, not that kit. I recognized the packaging even before you mentioned The Netherlands (I'm Dutch). I always got art stuff from that brand in my childhood and I still have nightmares of all the times my mom made me used their kits 😂 Edit: it actually looks like the paint has a better quality nowadays, colour me surprised. It used to be very thin and watery.
I was expecting bigger, flatter rocks, to be honest. And OMG that paint is slow at drying! I don't think many kids would have the patience for that. But the video is great, you guys! Thank you for exposing the (many) dark truths about rock painting. My favorite rock was the ghost one. I love how he evolved hahaha
I remember I once did paint on rocks as child. But I drew on random rocks I found at the beach and they were rather big. I still have them. They are part of the garden's decor now. I still like them, despite the fact that the colours are slowly fading
These all turned out so cute! I’ve actually been curious about rock painting, because someone in my area occasionally leaves rocks with tiny landscapes painted on them in various places! 😄🎨
this kit & brand is giving me so much nostalgia. this was my childhood lol. this video was so much fun to watch! (and those darn dutch people!!!) (yes i am dutch)
Just watched and omg you guys are SO cute & funny, I was smiling & laughing along with you the whole time. The rocks turned out so cute!! Posca pens to the rescue 🤣
I actually have done some rock painting! Once as a part of therapy (we put modge podge over them to keep it 👌) & another time with a friend :> I love how yours all turned out!
If it makes you feel better, Steph, I was waiting anxiously for the big secret of why the pet rock needed a usb cord. The joke was lost on me, as well 😅
Some.lady on an art page I was in ws painting rocks for Halloween to give out ...if u put a rock in my bad instead of candy and I was a child youll be getting it back in your window
It is funny to me how everyone is saying “Just get rocks from outside!” Where I live, there are no rocks in the ground outside. If I wanted rocks for my garden I’d literally have to buy them.😂
I saw a rock painting kit that was anime/manga themed and I just don't really know what makes it specifically for anime art. Like... Any rock painting kit can be anime themed if you want it to be 🤨
Adam ingoing to blow your mind I live in central London and we do not have rocks that we can paint, well nelson's Coolum is sort of a rock but you would get arrested if you painted it!
That angry adam energy in the intro...chefs kiss

Hahaha I know right!! You can always count on kids craft kits to go above and beyond 🤣
The USB pet rock story might be the hardest I ever laughed watching doodle date, that was a work of art.

Thank you so much Marjorie!! This comment has warmed our hearts so much!

Oh Lia if you ever get the chance to use posca pens on them, they work AMAZINGLYYY
I’m with Steph, the noise of that brush on the rocks was dreadful. But the rocks turned out super cute!!! The dark truth about rock painting: the process isn’t fun but the end result is very cute
A DARK AND WHOLESOME TRUTH!!
We used to do “rock painting” when I was a kid. Only we didn’t have access to decent-sized rocks, so we used to paint broken-up pieces of the driveway that went through our neighborhood, and we didn’t have paint so we used Crayola crayons. It actually worked fairly well.
That might actually be cheaper than this as well LOL
Always fun to watch not only how amazing your art is, but also your amazing chemistry together and how you interact.
Love you guys!
Thank you so much 😀
The prime controversy in the art community: cheap art kits 👹
Next they'll come out with paint a stick, where they give you paint pots and a bag to collect sticks with
Art companies really just wanna send kids into the woods never to be seen again
Lol I had a weird health day yesterday and slept in super late today which made me feel kinda down but then this video was here and I could not stop laughing. Also I love how Steph’s little Halloween bug friend came out in the end even though he had a rocky journey there.

Wishing you good luck on your rock-finding expedition! 🪨
These doodle date intros have been on fire lately
This makes us so happyyyy
You two always brighten my day! I love your art and your personality!
Thank you so much 😀
As always, Adamo making changes to the rules for himself. :)

The melting idea sounds so cool! I'd love to try that!!

I just went outside and saw free rocks, but would you download a rock for free???
The pet rock story is so relatable. I would've reacted the exact same way as Steph, trying to plug in my rock's USB
justice for Steph's foot! ✊
she was really watching paint dry this whole video bless her
I love the sasy vibe this vid gives, also OMG patches is such a UNIT in that photo, much big boy energy.
A Large boy to be sure!!
IVE BEEN WATCHING YOU GUYS SINCE 2016!! Love you guys!!! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for all your support Isabella!!
Omg that little paint set set off my fight-or-flight response, they're always so terrible XD
At least the results are cute!
Thank you so much Sam!! :D
This documentary was riveting!
OH MY GOSH I USED TO WATCH YOU GUYS ALL THE TIME YEARS AGO, IM SO GLAD I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL AGAIN 😭
I've been re-watching your old videos lately, they're very comforting ^w^
Glad you like them!
This gave me all the giggles. Thanks for exposing the truth behind rock painting!!!
Maybe the real dark truth of rock painting was the friends we made along the way.
I always love Adam's furious ranting... especially when he's right!
9:28 Adam switching Poscas one handed like a PRO
Love u guys, so much harder to paint rocks when they're all rugged and bumpy , the best ones to paint are the smooth oval ones
Next time we might just search up outside for our own smooth ones LOL
@@DoodleDate OMG HI think a good rule of thumb is if they're smooth enough to skip on water they're probably good enough to paint on!!!
13:05 is the BEST part of the video for me! I laughed so much. I was not expecting the SMACK sound
I’m obsessed with Adams googly eye rock guinea pigs and now I wanna make googly eye rock guinea pigs of my piggies omg
One of my favorites videos. I paint rocks and sell them at craft shows. Posca pens are the gold standard for rock painting!!
We totally agree Barbara! we were both so impressed with just how well they go down on rocks LOL
I used to work at The Works. They sell rock painting kits that are 2 for £10 it always baffled me that people would buy a box of rocks and sad tiny pots of poster paint. Just buy some decent paint and find some free rocks outside!
1:02 somewhere Jackie senses a disturbance on the Force.
(I mean NerdECrafter)
I have done rock painting! I also grew up in a beachy area so we did shell painting very often. Clam shells are the best for it. So big and mostly smooth!
The editing was amazing on this one! The pirate absolutely cracked me up!

One of the best UA-cam couples love how you both bond over art and making the best videos ! ❤ keep up with the great content ! Been watching for years

Jackie: *sarcastic* everything you neeed
ALMOST EVERYTHING??? IDK like, i still think i could find better ones outside HAHA
I think you guys should do Rock painting again, even tho it may be expensive. Rocks shouldn't be so expensive, you can find one outside!!!
Honestly I am invested, I now know my weekend plans.

what a cool royalty free pirate!
did you comment this during the stream when he mentioned the pirate lmao
Rumor has it that the paint still haven't dried
Thank you for exposing the dark truth of rock painting. Few creators are brave enough to address this publicly 😔
the yellow eyes on the ghost genuinely did make it more spooky
Oh no, not that kit. I recognized the packaging even before you mentioned The Netherlands (I'm Dutch). I always got art stuff from that brand in my childhood and I still have nightmares of all the times my mom made me used their kits 😂
Edit: it actually looks like the paint has a better quality nowadays, colour me surprised. It used to be very thin and watery.
Now I want to paint rocks . Looks like fun 😃😃 Garden centers during the spring always have smooth rocks for cheap
The banter in this video is unreal 🤣 Thanks for making me laugh guys! Sending my best to you 💛💙
Oh no! I had no idea! You totally exposed the rock painting industry! :O
I was expecting bigger, flatter rocks, to be honest. And OMG that paint is slow at drying! I don't think many kids would have the patience for that. But the video is great, you guys! You wanna make it halloween themed? Draw it dead. Excellent advice 😂
That one caught me off guard LOL
I love Halloween. I’m here for all the spooky dooky videos! 👻
Adam made boo from Mario, had a feeling when Adam put the eyes on first he was going with the piggies💕
Haha i had to try and have him make something spooky for october!!
"draw it dead" my favorite quote
Would love an outdoor video where you go and find some rocks to paint on!
Oh the struggle :D I love your creations though :D
Thank you! 😊
It's kinda sad that the kit didn't come with a dotting-tool.🥺
I'm not sure i know what that is O:
@@DoodleDate It's a tool you use to make dot's with!🐸
Adam's anger at the rocks is hilarious! the things ppl will sell is ridiculous
this kit & brand is giving me so much nostalgia. this was my childhood lol. this video was so much fun to watch!

"Draw it dead😎"
Next they'll be releasing rock painting kits without rocks OR paint! 🤣
New DIY kit just dropped
BUY EVERYTHING YOU NED LOL
I would also have tried to troubleshoot the pet rock. 😆
I'm so glad you guys found out the truth about these rocks, however dark it may be 😂 Looks like I'll be giving this kit a 5/5 on Amazon lol
The way this video is edited had me absolutely cackling
I actually have done some rock painting! Once as a part of therapy (we put modge podge over them to keep it 👌) & another time with a friend :>
I love how yours all turned out!
Just wanted to mention that the flag for the Netherlands is basically the flag for France, but sideways...dun dun. Steph was painting it after all
Lets dive and expose the rockfiends!

Adam's saltiness is quite amusing =P But it turns out he's pretty decent at rock painting, lol
Also, magnificent beard, adamo
We love to hear it!
If it makes you feel better, Steph, I was waiting anxiously for the big secret of why the pet rock needed a usb cord. The joke was lost on me, as well 😅

Missed opportunity to title the video "The *Hard* Truth About Rock Painting" 😆
WOOHOOOO
HERE WE GOOOO
I"ve been watching you guys for a while... doesn't it hurt your arms to work on the bed like this? I can't barely read laying down like that :(
