This is the most professional and comprehensive video on cutaway prototyping that I have ever seen! Well done lockcracker my friend! I really look forward to future joint ventures in the lock and lock cutaway sector. The details in the video are amazing and you even managed it to keep it short and sharp only including the most important facts. I am really impressed by your work and I am even more impressed that you not only took my challenge but also fulfilled it in a way that I would have never even dreamt of! Thanks and best wishes, Adrian Weber - Security Elements
It is so refreshing seeing some one make videos without the infomercial stain. My favorite channel by far. Sometimes the intellectual stimulation is the motivation. Please keep it up.
Guy, its not an accident... hope to remain totally independent to say and make whatever i want and then share it with the YT community! I'm still trying to find my niche, for the kind of content that i want to produce. I'm still heading towards more of a design perspective rather than basic CAD/CAM and machining; thanks again for the support.
l0ckcr4ck3r Just a suggestion but you seem to excel at explaining truth about things vis-à-vis the impact driver on the machine vice, I just saw a video of fella explain the surface he just ground to be .0005 from flat due to the backlash within the brown and sharp .0005 indicator.
Guy Good I guess all I'm doing is trying to encourage people to do a bit of critical thinking. You see these memes in the YT community, someone says something and then the others in that group just repeat it on their videos and no one down the line bothers to question it. A great recent example is how wonderful HSM on a cheap import mill is. The Pros: It looks cool - no argument there it increases tool life - Bullshit!!! it will do on a proper VMC but on a cheap mill like the Tormach, the amount of run out will never let that happen and in fact run out drastically reduces tool life it reduces cycle time - Hmm... under certain circumstances, maybe but with the rapids and acceleration the Tormach has, in most cases it won't. The Cons: It exponentially increases wear and tear on both the ways and ball screws. I want to postpone the day i need to enable backlash comp. on my machine for as long as possible..... I think i'll live with uncool toolpaths till i can afford a machining canter.
l0ckcr4ck3r I am in such agreement with the HSM argument save a bit of time and tool life at expense of the machine, it will undoubtedly also shorten the life of a VMC perhaps unless linear motors.
Beautiful, beautiful work, l0ckcr4ck3r. Haven't seen you around for while, and it's a pleasure to see you doing such cool work. Many thanks for sharing that.
Mr A!!!! Yeah been out of the loop for a while.... had a workshop to build and get the Lock related Skunk Works up and running... there's more stuff in the pipeline ;-) I know i still need to sort you out with an item i promised months ago... it will be on its way... eventually, sorry for the delay :(
Oh man! Nice! That turned out awesome! I just did my first cutaway. It's nerve racking! Waiting to get the video footage from my friend with the nice camera! Keep up the good videos!
Great work with the cutaway! I think one of these cutaway padlocks would help sell the Gamma 700 at our shop in California. Are you interested in making more? How much would you charge if I supplied the two Gamma 700s?
At the 11:00 minute mark, you'll see the end mill snag a slug of brass and kick up the rear left corner of the Padlock in the vise... This explains why the depth of chamfer if slightly larger around the Tang, compared to the rest of the pocket!
it was a while ago now.. but I seem to remember it hit something... there was a small defect on the pocket wall but it became almost invisible after the chamfer was added.
+Ultimate Unnamed Thanks, yeah Burg make some really neat locks, would love to be able to make a few more of these... AFAIK this is the only Gamma/Diamant cutaway in existence.
l0ckcr4ck3r I thought of you a couple of days before you subscribed... basically remembered that i promised to pick up those antique locks for you about a year ago now and never did :( ill send it again via KP messaging ok.
Hi Dave, that's just my makers mark, same as the icon on YT, and the 008 is the serial number of the cutaway. I always try and hide them on the cutaways if I can... You're not the first to ask. Thanks for stopping by!
+Iggy Mac Hoping we might be able to get some unassembled ones outta BW next year, becomes a lot more economical if you don't have to use 2 locks for every one cutaway!
+Iggy Mac Been back in the old country for a while Jimmy... Working on a couple new designs and some other projects, might be a couple of weeks before i get the first one done, stay tuned Bro!

Wow, that came out very nice, great work! Interesting to see the progress on such a cutaway lock.
Thanks Stefan, yeah i enjoy making and collecting cutaways.
What a fantastic informative clear step by step construction of a cut away well done for sharing with us all your skill

Very nicely executed. Amazing work on the Gamma. It is a pleasure to see your machining and this brilliant result.
Thanks Dirk, I'm sure Adrian will be sending some examples your way for a little photography in the future ;-)

Did you get that on video? I'll keep making them if you guys keep watching and commenting.
l0ckcr4ck3r Yes, I did an AR-15 cutaway for a firearms instructor. Only did one side but got some killer video. Will be up soon.
Just a great job very well done 👍
Seems like so much time is involved in R&D! Hope Adrian had deep pockets :) Brilliant design and execution! 👍
Beautiful work, very cool!
Thanks War!!
buen trabajo, ahora se que lo lleva mi Diamant por dentro! El picking sera mas interesante!

Good work excellent job on an excellent Lock.
Would make for an awesome training Lock, I picked on this Lock for quite some time but no luck so far.
+Ultimate Unnamed Thanks, yeah Burg make some really neat locks, would love to be able to make a few more of these... AFAIK this is the only Gamma/Diamant cutaway in existence.
That feel when u go from the weird side of youtube to the cool one.
Great machining work!
Thanks Jeff!!! Did you get the YT message?
what message?
l0ckcr4ck3r I thought of you a couple of days before you subscribed... basically remembered that i promised to pick up those antique locks for you about a year ago now and never did :(
ill send it again via KP messaging ok.
l0ckcr4ck3r oh yeah! I do still have your PMs on KP!
Fantastic machining. Curious how many hours were put into this job?🇺🇸
too many Steve!!! Adrian really wanted one for his collection, so I made it.... maybe 12hrs ???
That was really cool!
It was kinda nice to combine locksport and machining and be able to show the result on UA-cam this time round.
Question on your Best padlock cutaway: What is the stamp inside with 800 and keyhole/picks symbol? Thanks!

+l0ckcr4ck3r Thank you, sir! And that's some mighty fine workmanship, too! Sincerely, Eclipsedave - the Long Beach Lock Lackey
Cheers Dave :) I love designing and making them.
Do you have a video where you create a cutaway lock with SFIC core? Or some disk detainer lock core?
no vids of this but you are welcome to look here at some photos....

Amazing workmanship
Thanks, always great to hear the work is appreciated!!!
Verry nice
11:01 The lock moved slightly in the vice. Did this small movement cause problems with this part?
I'm curious can you comb this lock?
Oh well done sir good job my mind is blown now, thanks lol
Man I love you! :D
No worries, it was a fun project!
Climb milling is the way to go.
So the Gamma 700 is the same as the Diamant?
AFAIK.... yes... remove the plastic cover and its a Diamant underneath!
Very cool man
+Iggy Mac Hoping we might be able to get some unassembled ones outta BW next year, becomes a lot more economical if you don't have to use 2 locks for every one cutaway!
Nice waiting to see what you come up with!
Locksmith in USA. How is that Everest treating you Jim Elwood?
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Спасибо!
So where is a back plate?
back plate... not sure on that term... maybe know it as something else.. not being from around these parts Steve :)
Waiting on news of what your up to Bro
+Iggy Mac Been back in the old country for a while Jimmy... Working on a couple new designs and some other projects, might be a couple of weeks before i get the first one done, stay tuned Bro!
