1:02 - 火事と喧嘩は江戸の華(kaji to kenka ha edo no hana) - "The flowers of Edo are born from fights and flame" This saying goes back to when Tokyo was known as Edo. It was plagued with many great fires(like... in the 10,000's or something), from natural to manmade causes. This inspired great strides in fire prevention and the firefighting system. One of the "flowers" of Edo are the brave firefighters that the people looked up to.
1:17 - 打つ(utsu) - This is actually just the verb for gambling, playing the slots in this case, but it didn't flow nicely so I substituted in "I'm into fruit" since slot machines are also known as "fruit machines" in order to allow Hajime to link what Raden said into slot machines. I'm proud of this one.
1:55 - It's actually $13.40 as of 10/9/2024, but saying a flat 10 feels nicer.
2:07 - The slang meaning of this isn't what she's implying, but I liked how it flowed much more than "Madame President" which I would have used otherwise.
2:10 - I wanted to do something else here, but nothing flowed naturally so I gave up and I also like the joke Ririka made anyway. 元ヤン(motoyan) is "former delinquent(yankee)," but she changes the "yan" into "young girl."
8:18 - Not really a note, but I lowkey feel like Ririka might be right.
9:32 - Nothing to really note here, I just made myself laugh with this translation.
