Interesting. I often pondered the idea of a vario in a model aircraft but your vid illustrates what's available. I flew about 15 years with hang gliders, mainly inland cross country flight, miss flying a lot. Thanks for sharing.
Cool! I have recorded in my neurons that trick with the wind changing direction from your pasts videos. Hope to apply that soon with my new old ELF DLG :))
Could a full size glider carry an external thermometer in order to indicate when one has found the warmer air of a thermal? In addition of course to the altitude meter beeping accordingly?
@@josephinebennington7247 To my understanding they were tried on hang gliders back in the day. Temperature sensors on each wing tip, called "snoopers" i think. Did not catch on. The lift sensation and tilt of aircraft was dominant.
@@josephinebennington7247 Yes. And smell from where the thermal originates on ground. Good or bad😝. But to center in lift: Variometer no1. I believe that old school sailplanes use sometimes only visual variometer. But for hang- and para- gliders sound, as in the video. Feel also plays in as no 2. because sometimes you can feel the lift, or maybe see it in a model, before the variometer start chirping.
What a fabulous day, great flying ........ and always look downwind for your thermals, bravo !!

Love seeing these demonstrations. Hope to try sometime in the future and learn from your experiences. Very peaceful graceful art of flying.

But how to know in which distance from you? Probably just by searching on that direction? 👍🏼
Nice thermals. Unnecessary words Altitude and Meters
I can't believe how tight and flat that turns.
It is what F5j gliders can do 😀🦅
@@SpeedsterDEN I have a kit on top of by wardrobe, time to actually build it I think.

You feel them in full scale gliders.
@ A lifting sensation is understandable. How about the Temperature of outside air?

@ Interesting! I can now imagine, back in the even earlier days, of open Slingsbys the temperature changes could be felt on the pilot’s face.
