  • With igneous rocks understood, let's move on to the second type of rock, sedimentary rock. What are sediments, and how do they come together to form sedimentary rocks? What can we say about the size of such a rock? It's provenance, or origin? What about its composition? Let's go through the basics!

    I feel like I'm back in 5th grade learning about magma rocks, except Dave explains it better than my teacher at that time.

    Hi Dave, nothing to do with this video but a really weird coincidence.. happened across a video by Standing For Truth 🤢 about an hour ago and they were discussing your early James Tour videos. I thought I'd watch for the amusement factor. The first point they made was so dishonest and disgusting I turned off and was incredibly angry at the blatant lies.. long story but basically I'm commenting to say please keep doing what your doing and hopefully you'll reach some of these people 🫶

      Standing for Truth is another example of the UA-cam Truth Paradox. If the channel has “truth” in the name, it is chock full of lies.

      I think there's another way of looking at it. I think seeing apologists' videos where they have to spin things and lie is a good sign. It means they're afraid of their flock finding out the truth. You gotta remember what motivates those people and what motivates us is a world apart. I think it's a good thing they see Dave as a threat, so much so that they can't even afford to actually be honest about it. Their reaction was to lie and lie hard on a channel named "Standing for Truth". That's why they over-compensate so much. When the flock finds out whose really been lying to them an opportunity arises for them to free themselves. Of course not all will opt for freedom and that's unfortunate.

    Evaporite Rocks (e.g. halite, gypsum etc) are also a category of sedimentary rocks which are created by crystallization :D
    there is also recrystallization in carbonates

      I thougt about carbonates as well. Calcite, aragonite etch are recrystallized rests of marine animals.

    Hi Dave. I have a question for you, it's not about this video, but you know things and explain them best possible way.
    Here we go,, if someone lives close to equator, centrifugal force is kinda making them lighter. If someone lives close to poles, they are not effected same force, right?
    Question is: if I step on scale at Island and close to equator, do I have same weight? 🤔
    Thanks, keep up the good work.

    • @ProfessorDaveExplains
      @ProfessorDaveExplains  Рік тому +8

      that's right, you are a tiny tiny bit lighter at the equator than the poles

      @melm4251 Рік тому +3

      space faring nations tend to have their launch sites close to the equator to take advantage of this effect!

    How does plastic being found in rocks fit into this sedimentary system?

    • @columnarbasalt4677

      because "sedimentary rocks" are comprised of other clast (rocks, minerals, animal, things)

    Hey Dave I know this might seem out of nowhere but I wanna ask a favor. Idk if you've ever heard of billy Carson but he's basically a scammer turned scientist(I think) and he has a lot of interesting takes on multi dimensions and I just can't for the life of me find any prove as to if he is lying or telling the truth. I'm not a smart man so I can't find any points he makes on that particular subject but I can say he goes off the deep end in further discussions of science. (Claiming things like aliens invaded us before) so it would be great if you could help.

    Man I really want to watch all your geology videos but I cannot stand your theme song I'm sorry I know that's rude but think about it when you're watching a whole playlist of the videos. Is there anyway you can put like a compilation of your geology subjects together? That would make my overly stimulated easily annoyed brain so much easier to deal with.
