Instead of the simple angry berserker from the original game, Cognitive Wakaba now also seems to be an amalgam of the selfish, rotten adults in Futaba's life (or at least how she perceives them) who believe they have every right to trample all over her. From the Isshiki family that victimized her to the Conspiracy members who happily used her as a scapegoat for their crimes, all their self-centered beliefs are now reflected in Cognitive Wakaba, making the creature MUCH more satisfying to kill! Even on the verge of death, Cognitive Wakaba held onto her twisted beliefs, clinging desperately to the simple fact that she's an adult which makes her inherently superior to the "children". In Japan, there ARE some people who behave like that, even if they have nothing to be proud of.
In Japan, it's more pronounced because its culture teaches strict respect for the social hierarchy. Your position in family and society serves as a symbol of how much respect you get and even simply being more experienced at a job is meant to be respected by those with less experience, like calling a senior fellow student or work colleague a senpai. Unfortunately, this doesn't take moral integrity into account, since Japanese culture places more value on social harmony and stoicism. Persona 5 is meant to teach players that blind stoicism and blind faith in order can and will lead to suffering.
I love the new scenes but I played this in Japanese and these scenes had no subtitles and I couldn't understand what she said until I switched to English
All shadows are basically personas that never came to realize their true power, because the person who originally manifested them couldn’t admit what they needed to admit to themselves.
You also have to remember that Futaba in this moment is suffering from suicidal depression because of the conspiracy making her family blaming her mother's death on her to the point where she believed it. However, a part of her knew it was lies, knew that she was being used, and refused to give up. That was her shadow. Whereas the P4 shadows were their repressed negative parts of them, Futaba's shadow was the part of her that knew the truth and didn't want to die.
A shadow is the "True Self" first and foremost. Normally we've seen shadows as the negative, less desirable parts of a person, which is why they've been so undesirable, but in this case Futaba has already accepted a fake iteration of all her negative qualities. There was no hidden bad facets to her, she had already embraced them. Instead, she refused the desirable, appealing facets of her self, which is what the Shadow embodied as her true self. Her shadow was supportive and helpful because that's the part of herself she rejected.
If you choose the lines "True"and "Maybe you are right..." in Futaba's mom talkshits you will see Futaba refusing and heistating to help you instead to buff your teammates, i tried it and almost lost the battle cause of it XD
Yeah, while Futaba isn't my number one girl, her voice-actor IMO is genuinely the best in the game. The way she nails not only those emotionally intense moments but Futaba's panic attacks as well. She's amazing.
I really hope all of Futaba’s relatives regret telling off such a young girl like that. They were such assholes for thinking it could’ve ever been Futaba’s fault that her mom died.
I think they never liked Futaba at all probably because how she acted (since on of the voices yelling at her called her a 'creepy child') and only tolerated her because of Wakaba. Even if they did felt really bad and wanted to make amends, Futaba most likely doesn't want anything to do with them ever again. They betrayed her. If they really cared about Wakaba that much they would've done everything they can to make sure her daughter was well care for. Instead they listened to the words of strangers rather than a member of their family, who was 13, and practically disowned her.
@@alphagirl5212You're right, I'm sure the Isshiki family always hated Wakaba for having Futaba out of the wedlock (specially with Akechi's background being about how cruel japanese society is with illegitimate children) and considered her a disgrace. And then there's Wakaba's brother Youji who always hated her for being a succesful researcher while he was ignored by the family and treated Futaba like shit out of spite towards her. Nothing more. They do strike me as the type of family who cares about their image more so then their relatives own wellbeing. Authority or not, any loving family would've realized something was fishy, called BS on it, and assured Futaba that it wasn't her fault. Even if Wakaba did kill herself because she hated her daughter, any sane person would know that's not on Futaba because she was an innocent child. You could say that the family was too blinded by grief to think straight but that still isn't an excuse to be cruel to a child. I can only hope the family realized that they *royally fucked up* when it was revealed that Shido was the one who got Wakaba killed and Futaba was innocent. They could feel remorseful & change their ways but the damage was already done. They'll live with the guilt that they drove away the last remnant of Wakaba for the rest of their lives. It's possible, but more likely it's the manifestation of what Futaba has been hearing since the incident involving her mother. Agreeing with Cognitive Wakaba doesn't cause her to deal more damage, but it shatters Futaba's rocky confidence (which results in the ballista taking longer to load and fire.)

I had double shot, combined with the guns that get refilled after the awakening xd. About 5 mins of wakaba getting obliterated (yes, on merciless). Now thats lucky😂
@@thatbeanerrr I just beat her. I'll tell you what I did. I was on normal mode btw and was using Morgana, Ann and Makoto. So I used Joker to lower defence and then used garu w/ morgana, then I used ann to lower attack and used makoto to attack with her nuke ability. I sent Morgana for the ballista. Then I guarded until the boss was shot down. I used SledgeHammer, headbutt, maraugi and Makotos Grounded ability. After that first phase I used this. Joker to lower defence or use a lightning/ fire/ psy/ wind esc ability, Morgana using media to heal and ann using lower attack or fire ability and then Makoto using Nuke. Rince and Repeat and you get an ez kill
Used Kaguya Picaro with 3X damage and delt 9765 damage before the futaba cutscene... I didn't get to see if it's possible to kill her before phase 2 though.
I have a headcanon, Futaba's relatives knew that Wakaba's death was fake and they were genuinely nice, but Akechi then made them change personalities and make them go "You killed her!" and shit, otherwise, they would've figured out that Wakaba was killed

Is this fight glitched for anyone in second phase? Cause for some reason the ballista doesnt retrigger after the first one at all so was wondering if this happened to anyone else
It’s not that it’s glitched more that it takes insanely long to get her health down to where the next ballista triggers. Especially if your not using any of the dlc persona’s.
The worst mistake you could make during this fight was bring ryuji in here... *Same thing i did* And on top of that technical damage is way more effective.
If I didn't prolonged this fight, I would have won first try. Second try tho. I guess Cognitive Wakaba is nothing against the Ring of Gluttony equipped on Panther and Joker with a Thunderbird with High Counter lol
Shadow Futaba was an interesting inversion of the usual "Shadows are evil" archetype the Persona series usually goes with. Instead of trying to hinder the Phantom Thieves, she essentially tries to be Futaba's therapist by showing her that it never really WAS her fault after all and helps her save the Phantom Thieves from her cognitive mother by awakening as her Persona, while the REAL villain turns out to be a Cognition born out of her late mother's OWN percieved negativity.
From what I hear, the way Futaba's Persona awakens is just like how it's done in Persona 4, where the theme is all about finding the truth and dispelling lies.
I beat this on my 1st try on hard mode and I gotta say it was such a long ass fight so here's some tips? 1. Physical attacks are useless if wakaba is in the air. 2. Dont have ryuji on the team cause of his weakness to wind. Makoto too but its not as bad as it is for ryuji. 3. Make sure your bring something to cure dizziness and stock up on health/sp items. 4. A persona with strong gun attacks is recommended. (Although i didnt have one but gameplay wouldve been easier if I did) 5. Dont agree with wakaba. Trust me, you will need futaba's help. 6. Let someone go shoot that thing, or else you'll be here all day. 7. Have Morgana on your team. His attacks suck ass but he can help cure everyone's dizziness at once.
I actually defeated this boss on hard easily and didn't need to lower the difficulty. Just used physical ointment with Joker switched to Kaguya Picaro when she flys up and reflected the damage and did almost 4000 damage to her. It was actually too easy and the fight was over before it even started.
@@noakinn well the same strategy works anyways if you just reflect her physical attacks anyways regardless of which personas you use anyways. You could use one with retaliating body as well. (No need to bash anyone for using what they want to use).
I've never had the fortune to play the previous Personas, yet I love this game. But is this the first time that a Shadow was born of guilt? This is very heartbreaking to watch. There are many people out there who can relate to Futaba-chan thinking themselves responsible for the death of a loved one, and Shido is an absolute asshole whom any scumbag can relate to in turn. And is this also the first time a Shadow turned into a Pers-Hey! Easy on the hentai bait, Atlus!
I'm going to give you a crash course if this is your first. In Persona universe, everyone has their own shadows formed by the core of their own emotions. If someone is wicked enough, or their desire of running away from something is too strong, their shadow will go berserk, some even need a special place to contain it. But if someone has a full control over their shadow, either by extreme psychological pressure, forming a contract with it or accepting the darkest truth they try to conceal, it will become their persona. One example of a persona born within death-related incident is Kei Nanjo's persona, Aizen Myou-ou, which was born when Kei Nanjo witness his butler killed by horde of demons.
This took a lot of my health items even when playing on Easy so without hesitation or regret, I adjusted my settings to Safe because besides some new moves, gadgets and characters, everything is exactly like Persona 5. Once it was on Safe, its like it stopped bugging out and actually allowed me to use the ballista twice.
It’s worth to switch to Safe? I can’t defeat this boss, but I’m afraid that the game will turn so easy that will turn boring. Should I switch to safe? :(
It's a good boss fight but the developers gave her way too much health in my opinion, even if you know what your doing the boss fight still takes a good while to beat just from how much hp she has.
I'm probably late, but I would try grinding and maybe level up confidants before switching to safe if you're concerned about the game being too easy. Playing on hard, I had an easy time since I already played the base game and kept up with everything. It's very important to make sure you're properly prepared, that way the game will still be challenging, yet doable.

Okay can SOMEONE EXPLAIN to me what happened near the end where everyone got killed but got revived? That felt like cheating, what the hell happened xD I don´t understand.
So this is irreverent, but all these names are real Japanese names, right? I wonder what people would think about persona characters who share their name?
Futaba and Sakura are both extremely common names so there are probably a lot Futaba Sakuras in Japan. In fact, I’d say everyone probably has a real person sharing there name. Except maybe Ann.
What kind of thought was this? Lmao. This isnt some kind of new problem brought up by Persona 5. There are people named Bruce Wayne, Kazuma Kiryu, etc in real life and its not as rare as you think. However if theres people out there with Metal Gear Solid characters' name likeness, then youd have my attention
Holy crap, the events surrounding this fight is a call back to Persona 4, where the Shadow of the week is a manifestation of the ally's inner guilt, which turns into the Persona.
Can someone tell me how joker on my team lost all of my attack some how! All of my teams sp attacks are doing 90 to 100 damage where as joker is only doing 11 damage! It started happening out of nowhere! Also his physical attacks only do 40 damage after the boss is shot
What personas are you using? What are their levels? What stats do they have? Joker has a ridiculous number of variables to consider when considered to the rest of the team and, if you don’t stay on top of them, he’s going to fall behind.
Someone tell me why I brought the worst possible team for this boss? I had Ryuji, Morgana, and Makoto, and I was too stubborn to go back to the entrance and walk back through the red enemies with a better team.
I wonder... Can you do a full Tetrakarn use on your team in this battle? I remember it was broken in P5 -after her AoE attack, you'd counter it back and she'd be stunned as if you threw the arrow. It's not that they removed it, rather they don't give you the chance becuz Futaba does that for you... Right? Also, it's a much more interesting fight, getting more info about what lies Futaba was fed with.

Kelly Johana Mona is good after he awakens his persona and it fuses
I regret bringing him to the battle. I decided to use him for the heavy physical damage after shooting Wakaba with the ballista
Well, at least he lived. But that was a close one.
What I found out: Gun moves save your life. Have a Persona with them, otherwise you can get destroyed due to her crits, also if you have Ryuji in your party his wind weakness makes things that much harder.
Except not really. Get Repel Phys from Kaguya, slap it on a Matador, and you just win
I used Ryuji on my team, but he had a necklace making him strong vs wind. How lucky is that?
I had double shot, combined with the guns that get refilled after the awakening xd. About 5 mins of wakaba getting obliterated (yes, on merciless). Now thats lucky😂
Any one else had a glitch where they won't fire the bastila a second time and she won't go down no matter how much you hit her?
Me
Yeah thats me
Update: Still NOTHING, at this point i've tried 17 times i'm considering quitting the game

I feel bad for not analyzing every boss in this game to show you the level and not quickmapping moves in Like A Dragon.
Tip:
using tetrakarn when she goes for rapid ascent is stupid op.
Fun fact: The voice actor for Wakaba is actually the voice actor for Chie, Erin Fitzgerald.
Regular or Cognitive?
Dude I love these new boss events can't wait to play them myself I'll look at all the bosses........even if it's spoilers it's different if I play than watch so I don't care

Futaba Reached out to the Truth!
Is this fight glitched for anyone in second phase? Cause for some reason the ballista doesnt retrigger after the first one at all so was wondering if this happened to anyone else
It's because futaba protect you if you answer right.
It’s not that it’s glitched more that it takes insanely long to get her health down to where the next ballista triggers. Especially if your not using any of the dlc persona’s.
Now i wanna see the reactions on if you agree with wakaba
If you agree with wakaba then futaba won't be concentrated and think she's a dissapointment
It takes longer to load the ballista

The worst mistake you could make during this fight was bring ryuji in here...
*Same thing i did*
And on top of that technical damage is way more effective.
Ryuji is a physical king in the endgame. With Charge & God Hand
i brought ann, makoto, and morgana. regret it...
@@MixSonaProductions I know but that's completely irrelevant to wakaba wind spamming him so she can purge my team.

Skull and Joker: Wow, Tentacles...
Reminds me of my mom when im late
No way shadow futaba gave futaba a POWERPOINT PRESENTATION XD
I beat this on my 1st try on hard mode and I gotta say it was such a long ass fight so here's some tips?
1. Physical attacks are useless if wakaba is in the air.
2. Dont have ryuji on the team cause of his weakness to wind. Makoto too but its not as bad as it is for ryuji.
3. Make sure your bring something to cure dizziness and stock up on health/sp items.
4. A persona with strong gun attacks is recommended. (Although i didnt have one but gameplay wouldve been easier if I did)
5. Dont agree with wakaba. Trust me, you will need futaba's help.
6. Let someone go shoot that thing, or else you'll be here all day.
7. Have Morgana on your team. His attacks suck ass but he can help cure everyone's dizziness at once.
Thist version of persona 5 seem more easely to archeive more damage
I actually defeated this boss on hard easily and didn't need to lower the difficulty. Just used physical ointment with Joker switched to Kaguya Picaro when she flys up and reflected the damage and did almost 4000 damage to her. It was actually too easy and the fight was over before it even started.
no shit you're using dlc personas
@@noakinn well the same strategy works anyways if you just reflect her physical attacks anyways regardless of which personas you use anyways. You could use one with retaliating body as well. (No need to bash anyone for using what they want to use).
inviolable beauty is so fun
Oh sorry to bother you but did you release the giveaway winners already?
Oh and great vid idk why im addicted to watching ur vids
Im currently doing her palace. Couldnt help peeking ahead. Partially i wish sojiro was here too.
Wait how do u switch to safe lol
It's a good boss fight but the developers gave her way too much health in my opinion, even if you know what your doing the boss fight still takes a good while to beat just from how much hp she has.
I'm probably late, but I would try grinding and maybe level up confidants before switching to safe if you're concerned about the game being too easy. Playing on hard, I had an easy time since I already played the base game and kept up with everything. It's very important to make sure you're properly prepared, that way the game will still be challenging, yet doable.
I actually defeated this boss on hard easily and didn't need to lower the difficulty. Just used physical ointment with Joker switched to Kaguya Picaro when she flys up and reflected the damage and did almost 4000 damage to her. It was actually too easy and the fight was over before it even started.

From some video I watch, I think you need to concern about your teammate HP. Come on, use Dia, media, diarama, mediarama, etc

So this is irreverent, but all these names are real Japanese names, right? I wonder what people would think about persona characters who share their name?
“Makoto” is a pretty common name in Japan for both boys and girls, at least
@@F1areon yeah, but I mean their full name. Like if there was an actual person with the name "Makoto Nijima" or "Mitsuru Kirijo"
Futaba and Sakura are both extremely common names so there are probably a lot Futaba Sakuras in Japan. In fact, I’d say everyone probably has a real person sharing there name. Except maybe Ann.
@@Sam-sn8oy IIRC "Takamaki" is a Finnish last name... so probably somewhere out there in Europe is an IRL "Ann Takamaki"
What kind of thought was this? Lmao. This isnt some kind of new problem brought up by Persona 5. There are people named Bruce Wayne, Kazuma Kiryu, etc in real life and its not as rare as you think.

What personas are you using? What are their levels? What stats do they have? Joker has a ridiculous number of variables to consider when considered to the rest of the team and, if you don’t stay on top of them, he’s going to fall behind.
