Why I Am Catholic

- I am #Catholic for more reasons than I can describe in a short video so I’ll summarize them with this: I am #Catholic because I believe it’s #true.
So, why do I believe it’s #true? There are several qualities of #truth that I would use to judge a claim of #truth against but for the sake of brevity, I’ll describe one: truth is unchanging and #uncompromising.
But truth itself, not bound to the changing winds of circumstance is #transcendent and unaffected by circumstance. For example, it’s wrong to murder people. That is true today and it will be true thousands of years from now.
Now, the #Catholic #Church is the only #messenger who speaks as though the message she carries is actually true because she doesn’t tamper with it or compromise it even when doing so means enduring suffering.
The ##Apostles of Jesus, for example were all killed save one for not compromising their message and generations more continued to do so under Rome’s genocidal efforts to eradicate #Christianity.
The second reason I’m Catholic is because it’s counter-cultural in the sense that when the culture wants to float along with chaotic streams of fashion in the name of progress, it’s #Catholicism that stands firm against the current.
The next reason is that it’s impossible to rationalize the origins of the Catholic Church. The #historical #Jesus hand picked 12 apostles and told them to tell the world about what they had seen and learned.
These were 12 uneducated, cowardly (by their own accounts), confused, resource poor, and mostly illiterate individuals.
Within their lifetime, their message had consumed the world. Not through war or armed takeover. Not through political power or advanced technology. Not through any means that we can rationalize.
When confronted with the need to explain how #Christianity spread so fast and effectively in the face of Roman genocidal efforts and religious hostility from it’s place of origin, you either have to shrug your shoulders and say, it doesn’t make sense… or you can consider the possibility that God had something to do with it.
Lastly, there are countless documented miracles that have been performed by #Catholics. These #miracles are meticulously scrutinized by investigators which include non-Catholic experts in #science and #medicine. When they conclude that no natural explanation for the miraculous claims can be offered, the person moves closer to sainthood. This process is well documented and researched and countless saints have been confirmed this way.

Thanks!
Brian our local priest Father O'Riley used to abuse thousands of kids and many of them commited suicide and were tortured by the many priests until every bit of blood was taken from the dishevelled flesh. Given that there are over 15 million court cases against child abuse by Catholics as a minimum estimation per State in the US for example. Do you think that catholicism is dead and infact insults all those billions of people over the centuries to even exist? If someone sees you as condoning and tolerating and supporting all the abuse done by Catholic priests by talking about Catholicism do you support their views?
Love your calm demeanor and logic! God bless you!
"The difficulty of explaining “why I am a Catholic” is that there are ten thousand reasons all amounting to one reason: that Catholicism is true." - G.K. Chesterton
@notformebeaky sorry bro , i beg to defer .Your knowledge of the history of science looks pretty trivial. Do you know who came up with the idea of the scientific method? Please read about the Robert Grosseteste considered as the founder of experimental physical science. Also there were people like Thomas Bradwine, Nicholas of Orsme whoose ideas are considered to have influenced Newton's work.
Do you know about Issac Newton's firm belief in God?
Do you know that many scientists over the last four centuries have been theists and many of them Catholics?
Examples include Gregor Mendel (the father of genetics), Kepler, Galileo(a surprise, he remained a believer till death), Ampere, Maxwell , Kelvin, Max Planck, Francis Collins etc.
Modern Science came out of Christian world view and there is no doubt in it.
Though observations of the world around was practiced in various forms in many parts of the world, you cannot deny the fact that they never blossomed to the level that modern science did in Europe.
Also please acknowledge the fact that science has its limitations and it is not the only field of knowledge. Philosophy for example has functions that science cannot deal with. Philosophy tries to answer the question why do we exist, Why is there something rather than nothing. I don't think Science can ever answer that because it lies outside its purview.
Religion provides a narrative that helps people to understand how to live their life. Ethics is outside the domain of science. Religion gives a narrative for ethics.
@@akhiljames3435 You have the patience of Job.
@BVale You can't prove the existence with God through science. Science only attempts to explain how the universe works. God is a spiritual being. He is above the universe.
This was a good and honest challenge to cultural relativism, that any truth is merely one truth among many all with equal validity.
Keep in mind that many of the martyrs were Eastern Christians, and many during the Communist reign were Orthodox. Those standing up for the truth are not and have not only been Roman Catholic.
Wow! You articulated what's on my mind for a very long time...thank you so much!
Don't listen to the scum that judge you for your holy faith. Thank you for making this video. I always love hearing these kinds of videos. I am too a convert, and it was through extensive scripture study that I came to the conclusion of Catholic truth. May God bless you.
what about the scum that judge him for tolerating an institution which worships evil and has hurt and destroyed billions of lives over the years?
I’ve been a puppet,a pauper,a poet,a ……….! Believe on the the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved!
5 years later, still catholic?
Hello Brian. This was a excellent video. What you presented in this video gives everybody a great summary into a number of reasons why catholics believe what they believe. Thank you. May I share this with others?
GOD BLESS HIS ONE AND ONLY CATHOLIC CHURCH
Please PLEASE! do a followup! talk about more documented Miracles, Saints , Marian Apparitions, Incorruptible Bodies, Eucharistic Miracles, Levitation, Stigmatas.etc
Maybe do a video on St.Padre Pio? :D
Thanks! I'll keep it mind. :)
MetalHeadSpartan I am a Protestant discovering Catholicism for the first time and am blown away by the stories of saints. This St Patrick’s Day I plan on celebrating the real story with my children. He was an amazing man who should have been martyred but God obviously protected him so he could help save every last person in Ireland!
Although such miracles are not required to be Catholic (I cannot stress that enough), they can provide a glimpse into how God is working in our world in our very time.
I would strongly encourage you to find a good, well published book on the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The historical account and how she left her image on the tilma of St. Juan Diego is AMAZING!! Here is a good link: ua-cam.com/video/j9QmxmZBSR4/v-deo.html

God bless you. What is more beautiful than Catholicism.
Catholocism and it's love of money (owners of the most valuable art collection in the world) and the evil sexual abuse of children. Yeah, beautiful.
Acts of the few who also happen to be church leaders, the very people who are supposed to set an example of morality and guide the flock in righteousness. The fact that the Catholic church has had to pay out (as of May of this year) more than 4 BILLION DOLLARS (www.collective-evolution.com/2018/05/09/the-vatican-has-paid-nearly-4-billion-to-settle-for-children-harmed-by-sexual-abuse/) in settlement claims to the victims of "celebate" priests. The latest revelation? Over 700 Catholic clergymen abused children in Philadelphia alone. That's just one city, in one state, in one country out of the 1.28 billion people who call themselves Catholics. The number of abusive priests in the world has to be staggering. But worse than the money the church has paid to victims is the cover up - sending known pedophiles back into the community in other parishes. That is simply disgraceful and downright evil. As for me, I have no religion as you define it - I do not believe the God of Abraham exists, and fortunately more and more people are starting to realize that, especially young people. My ego has nothing to do with my disbelief, which is based on logic and reality. And as for praying for me? Well, it's been scientifically proven that nothing fails like prayer (www.thethinkingatheist.com/blog/28/Nothing-Fails-Like-Prayer), especially when following Catholic doctrine. You believe your God has a "master plan" for all of us. So if you pray for a sick relative to get better, but that's not in "God's plan" his fate has already been determined and prayer doesn't work. If that person recovers in the "master plan" than prayer was unnecessary.
Nathan Wilson Nathan, if you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen. Kinda like what I wish pedophile priests would do.
Nathan Wilson Try and make me, Nathan. Try and make me.
What is more beautiful is the truth from scripture the universal Church Catholic means universal but it has become a sect rather than The universal Church based upon one principle and one principle alone. That Jesus Christ is Lord and savior and whoever so believe upon him and call upon his name shall be saved by the saving Grace of his blood. You are not saved by works you are saved by grace and faith alone. Where does the space come from?? Only from God. We do not choose God God chooses us and elects us to be chosen. it is said that faith comes from hearing and hearing only from God we do not here because we are spiritually dead and God has to allow us to hear the message before we can accept the good news. A great case in point would be Paul.Paul thought he was doing God's will as well until he had his trip to Damascus and he was blinded. Scales were on his eyes for 3 days symbolic of the death of Jesus Christ. It is also likened to the story and healing of the blind man when the Pharisees asked him who healed you?? His response I don't know but I was blind but now I see. Only God can allow us to see. So what is our responsibility? To cry out for Mercy to the God we do not know and ask because God gives everyone a god conscious of right and wrong.in other words I pick me in Africa or a cannibal or someone who does not even know God and another part of the world if he praised out and looks in the sky and says whoever you are my Creator I need to know who you are. God will send a mission to that area he will save home he saves and damn whom he danced for none who the father has given me I in no way cast out Jesus claims.so everyone is given a god conscious we know we are doing wrong whether we believe in God or not even atheists know what right from wrong is. This is called the moral code.Animals do not know right from wrong they only have soulical instinct. but God has given everyone a god conscience so if we call upon a God that we feel is somewhere to be found God the true God that is will reveal himself to us that is the responsibility of man and that's it.we must humbly come before the spirit of God and asked him to identify himself to us we do not find God he finds us. We also do not pray to Mary.Catholics will say I don't pray to Mary I pray through Mary to God as a mediator which is totally false doctrine.Mary did have original sin and was not pure without sin otherwise she would be the same as Jesus Christ she would be on the same level as God!!! Jesus said all have fallen short of the glory of God does that mean Mary was exempt?? Jesus said we all are as filthy rags before the father does that mean that Mary was not included?? Catholics will say if Mary was with sin that Jesus would have been corrupted this is not true. Jesus did not have the father's DNA yes he had marries DNA.the most important thing to remember is that is why what God did was amazing because he came into sinful man the bloodline of Mary so to speak from Adam all the way down.and yet he was sin without sin because he was God himself protected by the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary from any sin

I'm not sure why you mention the 1968 apparitions above a Coptic church in Egypt as a reason for choosing Catholicism. Please explain.
Truly brilliant....

What do you think of the idea that God allows each person the freedom to choose for their self what to believe and how to live, regardless of whether they are right or wrong and that a person’s choices lead them along their path?
I believe that good and truth, evil and falsity are made available to us (Deut. 30:19,20) and we must choose one or the other. One choice leads to another and our choices lead us either to God (heaven) or away from God (hell). IOW, our destiny is in our own hands. This is not to say that we are not inspired by God to make good choices, I believe that we are (Phill. 2:12).
Regarding Catholicism, I was raised Catholic but when I became an adult and read the Bible, I felt the need to leave the Catholic church. That was MY choice, it was right for me. As I see it, we each must make our own choices.
Sad but I feel Francis is going with the current. But is he actually pope ?
Collins Anosike exactly. And also, the Lord chooses his people Esp the leader of his church. The Church has been there for 2000+ years and has gone through seriously tough times, it’s not going anywhere.
Dare i say it, i actually agree with you. Naturally we should say okay you believe this and i believe that, lets leave it at that, and finish off the friendly discussion. The only problem is faith is super duper important because it is something that leads to eternity and we do not want to go to wrong way, or start doing things that ruin the journey and path. There is one path, Jesus Christ. There is only one map, the bible. Its obvious that we should understand the text to an experienced and knowledgeable degree, be able to interpret it and pass information along, that is helpful and life changing.
God bless you. ⭐
Good explanation.
Truth does not change. Your lounge does not change
Not a Catholic and never will be but I love your videos and presentations. God bless you brother!
Glad you're watching my friend!
Kevin Sluder who are wolves in sheep clothing?? That dragged sheep with accusations? Who is accuser of brethren?
Jesus is someone who searches lost one and rebuilds, not leave church when things go wrong!!
Those who do not gather with me scatters!! Look who scattered to 30000+ false churches!!
Kevin Sluder only in one place god has fulfilled John 6:52
Follow god not twisted word of false prophets with humane thinking and character of accusations!!
Our lord is humble and forgives!!he didn’t go against Jews but died on cross!!
He could have established a kingdom then!!
Look what ur protest and starting new sects without gods will have done!!!
Jesus started Catholic church. Look into it.

Hey, I'm Christian and I was wondering why you chose Catholicism over, say, Protestantism? What do you think the pros and cons are to each? And do you think it matters which one you practice?
Snapple and Cats he explains it in the video: apostolic succession, miracles, resistant to fashionable ideas (protestants mostly give way to fashionable trends)
Thanks for asking. I tried my best to emphasize the parts that were really important to me in the video. I attended a few different churches before joining the Catholic Church and there were some really great things in those communities that I still miss, but for me it came down to what was true. I wouldn't look at it so much as pros and cons as I would which is more true. I was really disturbed by the fact that there were so many denominations after my conversion (that didn't seem to be part of the plan in scripture), so I tried to learn about Church history and when I considered what the two sides of the reformation, the Catholic position made the most sense to me.
A lot of people who come to the Catholic or Orthodox church from other denominations have the same experience as a Saint named John Henry Newman. He joined the Catholic Church as an Anglican Bishop. He states: "To be deep in history is to cease to be Protestant."
Watch his video on why he chose Catholicism over Protestantism (it is very interesting and accurate): ua-cam.com/video/HkqPjxp2Ltw/v-deo.html
Protestantism leads someone to atheism while Catholicism leads someone to become a scientists. Protestant denominations outright REJECT Science but the Catholic Church does not, well maybe in the 15th century also the Spanish Inquisition did happen and I'm a Catholic!
Amen!
i know i kinda of late, but how does the Catholic church feel about black people?
The same way it does about all people created in the image of God. The Bible says, "There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus." In other words, we are all equally loved by God and that's where our equality derives from.
All races are welcomed by the church. Even other faiths should be acknowledged and respected.
I'm black and Catholic.
Deo Gratias,
Me too!
I am Kenyan!
I have a question: How do we know that 12 apostles except one were actually martyred. I heard that they are legends since there are some contradictory traditions. I also heard that the incorruptible bodies are wax.
Incorruptible bodies are complex miracles some of them are still incorrupt some of them were incorrupt for a long time and not forever and were preserved with wax as you said, sometimes only certain body parts are not deteriorated, in order for something to be considered incorruptible it has to be preserved when it is pulled out of the grave. As far as the apostles deaths I'm not well read on that subject but we typically base it off of scripture, historical documents, and their remains
We know our traditions just like we know our faith, via oral Tradition. That's how everything was taught
@@tinakathleen8571 Except as shown in this spreadsheet docs.google.com/document/d/166Ae5je5m-wjxeuDBSeYpvoMXqhGYnbX0OGook5qaig/edit?usp=sharing, no one could agree on how the apostles died.
I used to be a Lutheran, but I was baptized and confirmed Catholic last Easter. The main argument that I get from my protestant friends is that the Church and the Pope is no longer the Church that Christ intended, but to say that Christ didn't know the Church's actions when he instated Peter as the first Pope is antithetical to the Scripture and Christ's time in the Garden of Gethsemane. The Catholic Church is still the one religion instated by the Lord Himself rather than a man interpreting the Word
Woah so Tolkien the author of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit is a Catholic as well as Obi-Wan Kenobi, woah mind blown!
There are many Catholic artists and entertainers
Amen amen.
So why does the bible has Christian written 3 times and disciple written 270 times. What bible are your reading?
The Catholic church is good it changes you for the better
are you claiming that catholics founded the scientific method before Ibn al-Haitham? sources in that case, please
Jo El Recent historical research proved beyond doubt that the Catholic Church made the scientific and technological revolution possible. The philosophical and practical foundations of science and technology were created in medieval monasteries, cathedral schools and later the universities.
You eliminated all of the other possibilities by practice of formal logic.
What stood up to the test? Catholicism.
I guess the bible says, be catholic and you will be saved, or does it?
1:04 - I also have heard that Muslims believe Jesus was placed on a spike, not a cross (which was the method by the Romans of that time). The great archaeological find - the Alexamenos graffito proves that to be false. It's so moving to me how a carving meant to denigrate and mock the Christian faith has become a witness to its validity.
Peter (the 1st pope according to The Catholic Church) refused to be worshiped! Havent the Popes throughout history asked for worship? "Kiss there ring" " kneel at there feet" is that true?
Nobody has ever worshiped a Pope. When people kiss the ring, they are kissing what it symbolizes, not the Pope. When people kneel, they are kneeling at what he represents, not at him.
Rosa Maria Matsuoka there kneeling to a man they're kissing a mans ring! Cmon
No we are not. I should know, I am Catholic.
Rosa Maria Matsuoka you're a liar. I've seen it you can watch videos of it. Give me a break
I gave you an honest answer, but you are already offending me by calling me a liar ---and you don't even know me. I have been a Catholic all my life. I have hung out with Catholics everywhere, in the US, in Mexico, in Japan, in Europe. I am 52 years old, and I have never seen anybody worship the Pope (or the Virgin, or the Saints). We respect him and admire him because what he represents. That is all. We venerate the Virgin and honor the Saints, but never worship either of them (this means we hold them in high esteem, we have great respect for them, and sometimes we ask them to pray for us, just like any Christian would ask any other Christian to pray for him or her). However, my honest answers will never be enough for you simply because I can also sense hate in your words, in your attitude, in your tone. And when someone has hate in his or her heart, real and authentic communication cannot take place ---the person is not really listening or paying attention to what the other is saying. When you manage to remove that hate from your heart (ask God to help you with this), we will then be able to have a sincere, respectful, beautiful and loving discussion ---meanwhile, it would be impossible. God bless you, my dear brother! ~ Always my love and best wishes to you. ~
As long as your priests keep away from children, you can be whatever you want to be.
6:35 How do you know it was Mary? Are you sure?
❤️🙌🏻🙏🏻
It is politically incorrect to say you believe in something because you believe it’s true? Who would claim that?
Read - Culture of Critique. Welcome to truth.
Because Catholic thought me to become Christian.

There are supernatural occurrences for example Muslims having dreams of God and Jesus.but if the dream car lights to scripture it all comes down to scripture everything must come from the word of God and not when Jesus said whatever you bind on Earth shall be bound in heaven and Earth he meantwhen Jesus said whatever you bind on Earth shall be bound in heaven and Earth he meant what came from scripture.it is the same as the prosperity Gospel if you pray and say I want a car and anything you ask in my name you will receive it does not necessarily mean that God will give you a car.God will give you everything you pray for as long as it's in line for what he wants.
I’ve never seen such hate and ignorance in the comments. We will pray for you.
We made a friendly response to this from a Protestant perspective at: ua-cam.com/video/eukhZiLAmZE/v-deo.html
Cool! I'm looking forward to listening to it. :)
By the way, we really enjoyed your video, and spent some time reaffirming certain comments. We will continue to listen, and not merely to criticize.
you really lost me when you started to talk about saints and miracles.
i understand believing in those things is necessary for being catholic, but from an agnostic perspective they sound a bit weak; they're not easy to believe so it weakens your argument a bit (in my perspective of course)
The Catholic Church does not require you to believe in miracles. Things like Lourdes, Fatima, etc. Some miracles are approved by the Church after a lot of investigation but you are not required to believe them.
The thing he said about the apparition of Our Lady is something I always think about regarding Our Lady of Fatima. About 70 thousand people witnessed the miracle of the sun, and it happened just last century. It's not hard to find documents and articles of that time talking about it. It was also explained as some sort of collective delusion... even though people in different places saw the same thing.
Sometimes, it is more reasonable to believe in the supernatural, but "reasonable" people deny it nonetheless.
Yes I can see how this can be so and therefore hope Brian may one day do another video explaining in more detail why be Catholic rather than protestant because then more points can be presented. But there are books written on this question it is a huge question with aspects for all slightly different. Seems his approach was to highlight why be Catholic rather than say Muslim?? He didn't really address why believe in the trinitian God. Maybe look that up for detailed answer to your unbelief?
The Virgin Mary doesn’t necessarily affirm Christianity. Mary is also an important figure in Islam.
I don't think he mentioned Mary at all in the video (correct me if I'm wrong) so why do you mention this?
@@markpugner9716 I don’t wanna watch this again but as far as I remember he mentioned Our Lady of Zeitoun as evidence for Catholicism.
@@LomuHabana Aha right, he did mention the apparition. I had skimmed the transcript for mentions of Mary thinking that he hadn't mentioned Mary, but missed the mention of "Marian" at 5:58.
He says…
> The short version of it is that a lady clothed in white appeared standing on top of a tower of a Coptic Church in Cairo.
…
> Now what seems more likely to you; that thousands of people in a predominantly Muslim country would suffer from simultaneous psychosis out of some desire to have Christianity affirmed or is it possible that something supernatural actually happened?
I think he's not using it as evidence for Catholicism, as he mentions that it was at a Coptic church.
That second quote seems to be him using it as evidence of the supernatural, and _not_ specifically Christian evidence.
@@markpugner9716 Mary is much more important in Catholicism than other Christian sects.
That would conflict his second quote in your comment. Since Mary is also an important figure in Islam, “simultaneous psychosis” is not necessary.
@@LomuHabana In the context of his mentioning of the apparition, I don't think he's meaning it to be a point of why he's Catholic, but why he believes in a concept of the supernatural, in general, that is coherent with Catholic teaching. After all, it would be weird to use it to say "I'm Catholic because I believe this thing that only ever happened at a Coptic church is true."
While his comment about "simultaneous psychosis" is specifically in a scenario that he doesn't think is likely, I think he's also considering that Mary appeared at a Christian church to be something Muslims would need the psychosis to accept.
Anyone in 2024??
the original church with small groups they started with the Jewish people they would meet privately and homes in areas and this was the original church and they were instructed to go out and spread the good news.Peter is not the pope when Jesus said whatever you bind on Earth will be bound in heaven this is true. However, the same way when people say whatever you pray for God will give it to you in other words when Jesus said whatever you ask you will receive. You will receive if it's in will and align with what the father wants. if the church leaders fall away from the original doctrine that has been taught God is no longer there and blessing the Catholic Church. Catholic simple means universal. The universal Church is all one who believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins that we are powerless over our sin and that we are saved by faith alone and not by works.otherwise if works were involved as well we would be earning our way to salvation which is incorrect doctrine. However, when God calls his elect they will do good works because they are commanded to do so by the Holy Spirit not of their own accord but because it is God's will to put the spirit of God in them to perform these good works.that is why Jesus said not all who say Lord Lord or have I not cast out demons in your name will inherit the kingdom of God.it is because that man or that woman has decided themselves to perform the good works rather than the Holy Spirit indoctrinating them to do the good works.Jesus said himself we are all filthy rags before the father and we all have fallen short of the glory of God including Mary. I hope this can clear things up with Catholics. It does not mean that Catholics are going to hell there are many Protestants going to hell as well. Jesus said far and wide is the gateway to hell and narrow is the path to eternal life.simply look for the truth do not find the truth from traditional values or family traditions.I was raised in a Catholic church and family and I found no spirituality that whatsoever and knew that I found the true gospel by going to a non-denominational church the true original universal Church. One without doctrines and dogmas but just based upon the saving Grace of Jesus Christ alone. Jesus Christ is the mediator to God not Mary I pray for Jesus to God.
Robert Lulek Are you a Baptist? In you stating that God gives His Spirit to His “elect” and that the Spirit is what makes you do good deeds, you are stating that people do not have free will. And in stating that God has an elect group of people, it is contradicting the fact that he is all-good, and wishes for all of us to follow Him. And that is simply not true because we’ve seen that God gives everyone a choice to follow him or not, ever since Genesis. Yes, Grace is a gift that only God can give, but we can decide to receive it or not. And yes, the Holy Spirit convicts, but it ultimately does not force anyone to do anything. God Bless you.
Why not Orthodox?
I believe in the primacy of Peter and a universal Church makes more sense to me.
Encourage to you look deeply in to Orthodox spirituality if you haven't already. Hope we can share communion once more.
:)
Catholic learn from Western and Eastern Spirituality. Catholic's Eastern Rite is in de facto Orthodox Spirituality.

The early Church was the Catholic Church. Eastern "Orthodoxy" is simply an earlier form of Protestantism.
The Following quotes by the Church Fathers and council Fathers are 100% irreconcilable with the new religion formed in Constantinople in 1054:
"That these things are really so, let us produce a witness most worthy of faith, a most holy man, and ARCHBISHOP OF THE WHOLE HABITABLE WORLD, that Celestine, who is both Father and Patriarch of the mighty City of Rome, who himself also exhorted thee by letter, bidding thee desist from that maddest of blasphemies, and thou didst not obey him."(St.Cyril of Alexandria To The Heresiarch Nestorius) [Rev. Joseph Berington and Rev. John Kirk, The Faith of Catholics, Volume 2, p.83]
"THERE IS NO DOUBT , AND IN FACT IT HAS BEEN KNOWN IN ALL AGES, that the holy and most blessed Peter, prince and head of the Apostles, pillar of the faith, and foundation of the Catholic Church, received the keys of the kingdom from our Lord Jesus Christ , the Savior and Redeemer of the human race, and that to him was given the power of loosing and binding sins: WHO DOWN EVEN TO TODAY AND FOREVER BOTH LIVES AND JUDGES IN HIS SUCCESSORS, The holy and most blessed Pope Celestine, ACCORDING TO DUE ORDER, IS HIS SUCCESSOR AND HOLDS HIS PLACE...Wherefore Nestorius knows that he is alienated from the communion of the priests of the Catholic Church." Ecumenical Council of Ephesus,Session III (A.D. 431)
Patriarch St.Sophronius of Jerusalem says:
"Go through all the world till you come to the Apostolic See, where is the foundation of orthodox belief. Tell the most holy persons of that See all about our difficulties: do not cease to beg and entreat them until their Apostolic and Divine wisdom shall pronounce the victorious sentence, and shall canonically root out this new heresy." -Patriarch St.Sophronius to bishop Stephen of Dora (before sending him to Rome, 639 A.D.) Really???? You guys believe all this???? Didn't Greece, Rome, and the Egyptians have the scientific method for there achievements.
Gary Langrick No, they didn't. They had technology and natural philosophy.
Many will also say what about the children Bernadette. The Lady of Fatima. I absolutely believe Satan can deceive many. Mary herself said pray to me in that apparition. Clearly this is not from God marry herself would be the first to say do not fall down and worship me but worship my son.remember Jesus rebuked the woman that said blessed is the fruit that boy you in the womb Jesus right away corrected her and said no rather blessed the father who is in heaven. The apostles came to Jesus and said your mother and brother are here. Jesus again rebuke them who is my mother who are my brothers??
you do realise that a church is not a building the church are the people and Jesus is the foundation. 😊 read your bibles beautiful people
Are you saying that the Catholic Church is not the true Church because it has buildings?
You can have church service in a church building that's not a problem, but it is easy to prove Catholic priests teach the wrong doctrine and are false. They care about tradition more than God and it is not biblical to pray to Mary. It is not biblical to get baptized as an infant and have a holy communion. Lots of false teachings in Catholic churches.
Jessica,
1) *Asking Mary (or any other person in heaven) to pray for us is Biblical:*
- _"And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God's people."_ -Rev 5:8, which shows people in heaven praying for us. Mary is in heaven (Rev. 12:1), so we can ask for her prayers as Rev 5:8 shows they do in Heaven.
-The early Christians also believed this: _"But not the high priest [Christ] alone prays for those who pray sincerely, but also the angels... as also the souls of the saints who have already fallen asleep"_ -Origen, 233 AD
2) *Baptism as infant:*
-How is this forbidden by the Bible? We see in the Bible that an entire house (which could include infants) was baptized in Phil 16:30-34.
-This was something recognized as acceptable by the early Church after some debate: _"As to what pertains to the case of infants...Rather, we all judge that the mercy and grace of God ought to be denied to no man born"_ -Cyprian of Carthage, 253 AD
3) *The evidence for the Eucharist/Holy Communion is profound. It is all over scripture and the Early Church wrote vehemently about the truth that Catholics still hold:*
-Biblical evidence is found in John 6:50-60 when Jesus uses very specific language to explain that they must eat of His flesh and drink of His blood. This was confounding to them, but He emphasized it. He also said this at the last Supper as well. He did not say "this is a symbol of my Body," He said "this *_IS_* my Body."
*The Early Church is clear on this truth:*
- _"They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer because they do not confess that the Eucharist is the flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ, flesh which suffered for our sins and which that Father, in his goodness, raised up again. They who deny the gift of God are perishing in their disputes"_ -Ignatius of Antioch (bishop taught by St. John), 110 AD
- _"...since Jesus Christ our Savior was made incarnate by the word of God and had both flesh and blood for our salvation, so too, as we have been taught, the food which has been made into the Eucharist by the Eucharistic prayer set down by him, and by the change of which our blood and flesh is nurtured, is both the flesh and the blood of that incarnated Jesus"_ -Justin Martyr 151 AD
Mary can't hear our prayers she was a normal human being like us she was not God. Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38-39: An infant can't repent and is not aware that God exists. We should be fully aware of why we are getting baptised. We are doing this for Jesus confessing he is Lord as we go under water dying with him and then coming out with a new life.
_"Mary can't hear our prayers she was a normal human being like us she was not God"_
I just gave you biblical proof that those in Heaven hear our prayers and lift them up to the throne of God. I also gave early Christian testimony, for which there is much more. Can you provide evidence to the contrary?
_"An infant can't repent and is not aware that God exists."_
Repenting and Baptizing are two separate events. Jesus clearly lays out the requirements for Baptism: "be born of water and spirit" (Jn 3:5). Repenting is not mentioned here. Repenting is also not mentioned in 1 Peter 3:21 where he says, "baptism now saves you." Not only that, but the early Church already had this debate and sided with infant baptism.
If you do not believe the early Church or my explanation of Scripture on these topics, then can you explain who has the authority to interpret and teach the truth about the faith? *Who is your authority you trust and why?*
I will just say that, regardless of what you or anyone else thinks is The Truth™ is, everybody needs to take a year's supply of humility pills, shut up, and work for the common good of everyone in their community.
The problem with that is it is, itself, a truth claim. The common good is part of the social teaching of the Catholic Church and quite distinct to her. Who are you to say it's what we should all be pursuing while simultaneously insisting that the truth is somehow secondary. Any moral insistence requires us to have some agreed notion of the truth.
the truth is God never stopped talking to his true people, the church, after the bible was made, so the bible only idea of the protestant.......🙄
"why" I'm Catholic. I'm Catholic 2 but I don't give people reasons why
Well…..Jesus started it 2000 years ago.

Catholics - the Truth will make you free
Probably? LOL!!! Keep up the good work, brother. I'm glad you can find time between making avocado toast and wasting paper towels to do this thing you do. More please!!!
The most crucial problem with the Roman Catholic Church is its belief that faith alone in Christ is not sufficient for salvation. The Bible clearly and consistently states that receiving Jesus Christ as Savior, by grace through faith, grants salvation (John 1:12; 3:16,18,36; Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9-10,13; Ephesians 2:8-9). The Roman Catholic Church rejects this. The official position of the Roman Catholic Church is that a person must believe in Jesus Christ AND be baptized AND receive the Eucharist along with the other sacraments AND obey the decrees of the Roman Catholic Church AND perform meritorious works AND not die with any mortal sins AND etc., etc., etc. Catholic divergence from the Bible on this most crucial of issues, salvation, means that yes, Catholicism is a false religion. If a person believes what the Catholic Church officially teaches, he/she will not be saved. Any claim that works or rituals must be added to faith in order for salvation to be achieved is a claim that Jesus’ death was not sufficient to fully purchase our salvation.
While salvation by faith is the most crucial issue, in comparing Roman Catholicism with the Word of God, there are many other differences and contradictions as well. The Roman Catholic Church teaches many doctrines that are in disagreement with what the Bible declares. These include apostolic succession, worship of saints or Mary, prayer to saints or Mary, the pope / papacy, infant baptism, transubstantiation, plenary indulgences, the sacramental system, and purgatory. While Catholics claim Scriptural support for these concepts, none of these teachings have any solid foundation in the clear teaching of Scripture. These concepts are based on Catholic tradition, not the Word of God. In fact, they all clearly contradict Biblical principles.
In regards to the question “Are Catholics saved?”, this is a more difficult question to answer. It is impossible to give a universal statement on the salvation of all members of any denomination of Christianity. Not ALL Baptists are saved. Not ALL Presbyterians are saved. Not ALL Lutherans are saved. Salvation is determined by personal faith in Jesus alone for salvation, not by titles or denominational identification. Despite the unbiblical beliefs and practices of the Roman Catholic Church, there are genuine believers who attend Roman Catholic churches. There are many Roman Catholics who have genuinely placed their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. However, these Catholic Christians are believers despite what the Catholic Church teaches, not because of what it teaches. To varying degrees, the Catholic Church teaches from the Bible and points people to Jesus Christ as the Savior. As a result, people are sometimes saved in Catholic churches. The Bible has an impact whenever it is proclaimed (Isaiah 55:11). Catholic Christians remain in the Catholic Church out of ignorance of what the Catholic Church truly stands for, out of family tradition and peer pressure, or out of a desire to reach other Catholics for Christ.
At the same time, the Catholic Church also leads many people away from a genuine faith relationship with Christ. The unbiblical beliefs and practices of the Roman Catholic Church have often given the enemies of Christ opportunity to blaspheme. The Roman Catholic Church is not the church that Jesus Christ established. It is not a church that is based on the teachings of the Apostles (as described in the Book of Acts and the New Testament epistles). While Jesus’ words in Mark 7:9 were directed towards the Pharisees, they accurately describe the Roman Catholic Church, “You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!” - GOTQUESTIONS
Turn to Jesus Christ. He is the Lord and savior. It is by faith through the Lord and the belief that his death on the cross to pay the wages of our sins is how we earn eternal life/salvation. Catholicism requires you to do works such as going to mass and doing your communion, but the scripture states that our works are but filthy rags. Where does it say in scripture that doing sacraments are required for salvation? It doesn't. They only illustrate your faith on top of already believing in Jesus Christ. We all fall short of the glory of God. No amount of work will earn you eternal life, but only faith in the Lord Jesus Christ will. To say that you need to do this or that to earn salvation is false. If you think religious sacraments such as baptism, mass, confirmation, the Eucharist, penance, anointing of the sick, ordination, and matrimony are required for salvation, you are wrong. This claim is considered boasting of your works. Jesus Christ did all the work for us when he died on the cross and said "It is finished." Mary was a sinner like the rest of us. To say she is the mother of God is false. God is immortal/eternal so that means no one gave birth to God. God has been there from the beginning. No mortal being is above God almighty. She was only the mother to Jesus while he was doing his earthly ministry, but Jesus has always been the Son of God from the beginning. She was only a vessel to bring forth God in the form of man. She also needed to be saved. The only mediator between God and man is Jesus Christ. John 14:6 clearly states "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Jesus Christ is the only way. Why do you guys pray to Mary? That's idolatry and no idolater will enter Heaven. Catholicism is a false religion. Please renounce it and put your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and repent of your sins.

Does the Bible consistently and exclusively describe faith as the only contributor to salvation? Does it ever teach that anything else is involved as a prerequisite? For Sola Fide to be true, the answer to the first question would have to be, unequivocally, yes... and it's not. For Sola Fide to be true, the answer to the second question would have to be, unequivocally, no... and it's not. Just because you can find a verse that says Faith saves us, which it does, does not mean that faith alone saves us. If I say that Wikipedia is a good source of information on the Second Boer War, it would be presumptuous to conclude that what I mean is that it's the only good source.
The only way is Jesus Christ the lord and savior of all who believes. Repent and worship only one god, not idols mad enough of wood, bronze, stone etc...
There is only one truth and all are made of the Devil
What?
I believe Judaism is the truth think about what exactly was the prophets speaking about?
Ham Bone where exactly was Jesus mentioned in the Old Testament? The reference of the suffering servant in Isiah is actually speaking of Israel if you read in context, the whole second coming is not mentioned in the OT at all simply think about what I’m saying. Right Talmudic Judaism is in fact very different but that does not mean Judaism is in fact false.
Another false doctrine is that Catholics think that saints are special anyone who is in Jesus Christ is a saint.this is scripturally based all the saints who have died at says not just certain people who are saints. How could a man be a saint or a woman be a saint we all have the stain of sin. You cannot do enough good you cannot be mother Teresa enough to be a saint. For all have fallen short of the glory of God and are a filthy rags before God including mother Teresa. Is only by the purity of the blood that God the Father sees us pure and white as snow. So why would God allow certain people to b/e saints??it absolutely makes no sense at all for we all are in the same boat center saved only by grace and the mercy of God almighty
Before you go calling a Catholic doctrine false, you should learn what the teaching actually is. The Catholic Church canonizes (that is, gives certain deceased people the title of Saint, in English) after a strict process to verify that their intercessions have been heard by God. Basically, it's a title designating the fact that those of us still on earth believe the person is in the presence of God and can intercede for us. Whether you agree with the idea of the intercession of the Saints or not, you should at least understand what the Catholic Church actually does before you go around dissing it.
@@levisando it's not dissing the Catholic Church my mother died a staunch Catholic and I had to explain to her that by praying to Mary she's praying to someone that cannot hear as she was just a created being she was not without sin.there is no such place is purgatory I was brought and raised up Catholic I know the catechism very well.I don't mean to knock Catholics it does not mean that Catholics are going to hell but they are teaching false doctrines which are incorrect.the Catholic Church believes that you can lose your salvation in Jesus Christ died on to sin . Once.that is like me adopting a kid and all of a sudden I find out he's a problem child so I want to return him for a better kid.vision possible to lose your salvation when you are sealed by the Holy Spirit and this is a grave era by the Catholic church and their teaching you should Google Richard Bennett former Catholic priest. He loves Catholic and has a heart of passion for Catholics. Believe me if you saw your best friend ready to jump off a building you would do everything to save them

@@levisando I encourage you to watch Richard Bennett he is a former Catholic priest I sent you the link there are many other about the papacy and the false doctrines and I was in this church and I realized when God open my eyes much like Paul on the way to Damascus I was blind but now I see the truth. Remember a saint is only those who are with God in eternal life we are all saints when we are in heaven.there will be no special place or privilege in heaven over others we all get the same wage eternal life. For Jesus said we are all like filthy rags before God even mother Teresa. All have fallen short of the glory of God.
@@levisando also leave a I was just urge you as a brother in Christ to really do research I truly believe in Sola scriptura.in other words only what is written in the word of God the Holy Bible should count not what men create afterwards many Catholics believe the priest or the pope has the power to add to the Bible I do not believe that.only God is infallible and the Bible were written by the word and hand of God through men inspired by God.if you enjoy being a Catholic it is okay just understand that you are saved by grace alone not by works and Grace this is like saying your work was not good enough Jesus I also have to do my part.many Catholics take James to and try to twist it by saying that faith without works is dead.what that verse simply means is that if you are truly saved by God the good works will irresistibly come through the power of the Holy Spirit.that is why Jesus said on that day not all who say Lord Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven. That is because people claim that they know Christ but they do not walk the walk.it is nothing we can do on our own volition we are saved by election God chooses whom he shall save Paul is a great example of that. Another example would be the blind man that was cured by Jesus. When the Pharisees asked him who killed him he said I don't know. I was blind but now I see he said.some might say it's unfair that God chooses some and not others but he has his reasons.we cannot choose ourselves because we are spiritually dead we just have to have a willing lot to cry out to God to save us and for mercy.got this all the saving less we shall boast by saying we need to do works as well does it not make sense? How can sinful man save himself by doing works?many Catholics will say well the Reformation was fifteen hundred years the Catholic Church always was. The Reformation simply brought back the original Church to the original roots.
Romanism werent developed until after the 4th century. The apostles never heard of the Roman Catholic Church, or preformed a mass, or read a catholic liturgy. Every thing you known and love about Catholicism, was a later accretion. Evangelicals and Charismatic bare the apostolic and prophetic flame of the early church for the Glory of God, amen.
Cheers
Everything I know and love about Catholicism, eh?
JP, the mass is all over the New Testament. Whenever you read about gathering on the first day of the week and partaking in the bread(body) and cup(blood). Also, in the second century (155AD) Justin Martyr described the mass to Trypho the Jew. LOOK IT UP
what the Catholic Church does compromise they created their own dogmas like purgatory and saying that Mary is immaculate through the immaculate conception which is. They also called their leaders fathers and Pope this was not a biblical principle
What is your definition of "biblical" and why is that a requirement?
Jesus established a Church, not a book. The book (New Testament) is a product of the Church that Jesus established (the Catholic Church). The Bible tells you to hear that Church, and says that if you don't you are as a heathen. The Church was established by Jesus to instruct. The New Testament is various writings of the early Catholics which was compiled by the Catholic Church. The Bible tells you that not everything Jesus said and did is written down. The Church keeps the traditions from the apostles and the early Church. Jesus gave Peter all authority to bind and loose and the keys of the kingdom. The Church (Catholic) is the authority and the New Testament is what it produced. Purgatory is a biblical concept but the protestant bibles only have 66 books. The New Testament is useful and inspired but the Church is the teaching authority. As for "call no man father," that has been explained so many times it is tiresome. What do you call your dad? What about the founding fathers? The Bible is full of many instances where people are referred to as fathers, such as Paul and father Abraham, etc. Where do you find "altar call" (with no altar) in the Bible? Where do you find "personal relationship with Jesus" in the Bible, etc. Jesus left us the Catholic Church as the teaching authority. Protestantism (all of it) is the invention of men and has zero authority and no apostolic succession.
They are not made up when u read and know the Bible and know Tradition which is vitally important becasue how do you even suggest the Bible was written?? The followers of Jesus who were preaching his message orally and who knew the culture and Traditionals events decided to document it and form the Bible. The. Ible actually came after and from Tradition.
@@tinakathleen8571 you are correct! The problem is if you deviate from the true tradition and create your own tradition as the Catholic Church does. You are strong from God, and the word of God the tradition was simply this the blood of Christ, the hope of glory through the blood of Christ and regeneration of your soul through the belief in Jesus Christ this was the tradition. My advice to you would be watch a good series from Fred Tarsitano a former Catholic. He has many many serious, and he's a godly man that speaks the truth. If you want to know the truth, you will find it in scriptures and scriptures alone not from what man adds to scripture. Otherwise, we would believe Jehovah witnesses we would believe Mohammed because he added to scripture, the tradition must hold true to the original tradition. What did Jesus say about tradition? Look it up in the Bible it says.
"Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don't wash their hands before they eat!" Jesus replied, "And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition? For God said, `Honor your father and mother' and `Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.
@@tinakathleen8571 remember; when you were born into a religion, you are indoctrinated into a tradition. The way Muslims will die for the Koran. I was born a cradle Catholic, but my heart knew that I was following a false, gospel, especially when I interviewed a priest and asked him if Mary was without sin, when he told me she was pure and had no sin. I knew that I was in a cult. Send comes in from the man s seed since the Holy Spirit impregnated, Mary Jesus, was without sin although Mary had original sin. It's all in the Bible if you read it. There are so many things for example, the lineage of popes Jesus would have discussed such an important topic Peter is not the first pope. He was a petros, a small pebble or rock of the Petra Petra means boulder or stone, do you think a week facile like PETER who denied Christ three times is the rock that Jesus was talking and referring to? It's amazing how people can be blinded from their tradition. Jesus speak to all Catholics as I see my brothers on top of the building, jumping off to death you are not saved by grace and works. You are saved by Christ blood alone.

I will never be cathlic for one reason. The church will betray you just as it has betrayed the Chinese faithful. :(
Why don't you read the bible
The Catholic church made the Bible
You Catholics worship Jesus as a divine, but he never claimed it.
Where did he ever say in the Bible, "I am God, worship me?" Show me and I'll convert.
"If you have seen me then you have seen my Father."
No way did he ever say directly "I AM GOD WORSHIP ME." Wrong answer.
That is a vague verse that you cannot rely. The Bible is corrupted.
No way, I will never convert.
Try again to convince me. Jesus was only sent to the Jews, not Gentiles.
Paul: "Christ is the visible image of the invisible God."1
John: "He existed in the beginning with God."2
Peter: "you must worship Christ as Lord of your life."3
Jesus Said He Existed Before Abraham
"Your father Abraham rejoiced as he looked forward to my coming. He saw it and was glad."
The people said, "You aren't even fifty years old. How can you say you have seen Abraham?"
Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I Am!"4
Jesus Said to See Him is the Same as Seeing God
Jesus shouted to the crowds, "If you trust me, you are trusting not only me, but also God who sent me. For when you see me, you are seeing the one who sent me. I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark."5
"No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!"
Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied."
Jesus replied, "Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don't know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you?"6
Jesus Said He Could Forgive Sins
"...that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"--he then said to the paralytic--"Rise, pick up your bed and go home." And he rose and went home. When the crowds saw it, they were afraid, and they glorified God..."7
He said to them, "You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins."8
Jesus Said He Is the Judge and Can Grant Eternal Life
"For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will. The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father."9
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live."10
"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand."11
"For it is my Father's will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life. I will raise them up at the last day."12
Jesus Said He Was the Same as God
"The Father and I are one."
Once again the people picked up stones to kill him.
Jesus said, "At my Father's direction I have done many good works. For which one are you going to stone me?"
They replied, "We're stoning you not for any good work, but for blasphemy! You, a mere man, claim to be God."13
You can't trust your Bible, as I have said. They're corrupted & forged.

everything you Catholics do in your church is blasphemous but you don't even know it cause you don't know the bible.
you say father to priests and its forbidden, you confess your sins to priests and its forbidden, you do communion totally wrong, you changed the 10 commandments, you worship Mary and do idol worship, start reading your bible!your priests ware the fish head on their heads its pagan and that smoke you swing in your church is also pagan and you say we all pray to the same GOD that is a lie out of the pits of hell and blasphamous!
Right... ok let's talk about the Bible for a second. Call no man Father? Why does Paul calls himself a father to the Church in 1 Corinthians 4:15. Does that mean he broke a commandment (sinned) while writing scripture? Or how about the fact that Jesus refers to Abraham as "Father Abraham" (John 8:56). Is Jesus doing something forbidden... or is there more to that teaching that you seem to understand by your legalistic, pharisaical interpretation? No, Catholics don't worship Mary, so that's just a straw man argument. I've never seen a priest wearing a fish on their head, so I have no idea what you're talking about but the symbol of a fish was common in Christianity from the beginning because Jesus told them they would be "Fishers of Men", again something right out of the Bible you pretend to know so much about (Matthew 4:19). Regarding the smoke of incense that we use in the Mass, this is also straight out of the Bible based on the way the saints and the angels worship God in Heaven (Revelation 8:4). So, I've just made several arguments right out of the Bible. You made several assertions without a single biblical citation and you accuse Catholics of not knowing the Bible?
It's wrong to be a Catholic
Try offering an explanation for your assertions. Simply stating something antagonistic accomplishes nothing!
Its wrong to be uncle lou
Not sure how a person could be Catholic and still believe in the Bible. I mean, where does it say that priests have to be single, where does it say that Mary is Co-Redemptrix and that we have to pray to the Mother of God, where does it say that it's faith plus works and that the sacraments save a person (as opposed to the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ)? I just lost a very good friend who was Catholic. I know for a fact that he's not in Purgatory.
Hey there. In short, any Christian will agree that the bible is true, but doesn't contain all truth. The real question behind Protestant vs. Catholic is a question of authority. Protestants are founded on changing the Christian's understanding of authority from what it was to "The Bible alone, [my] faith alone". Catholics believe in more. Here is an article about why: www.catholic.com/magazine/print-edition/not-by-scripture-alone
A second note: It is important, when entering discussions to know the difference between a discipline and a doctrine. A discipline is a form of practice (example: Roman Catholic Priests have the discipline of being celibate, Ukranian Catholic priests have the discipline of being celibate or married) and it can change over time. I think the celibacy discipline is a very good one, but we can disagree and that's ok. A doctrine, on the other hand, is either right, or it's wrong. It can't change over time. Mary either is, or isn't permitted by God as a co-redemptrix. That teaching in particular is harry for protestants, I would suggest that unlocking an understanding of why comes down to understanding what Catholicism really means by this word, "co-redemptrix".
It's pointless to direct me to catholic websites. So how did the whole Mary worship come into play? It certainly didn't start with the Apostle Peter. I don't think we'll get anywhere in an online discussion, but I'll ask you this. If we don't use scripture as our basis of faith, what do we use? The bible clearly states it's the Spirit breathed words of God. You use the Pope to decide how to live, believe that the Eucharist and prayers to Mary can save you, and that faith in Christ alone is not enough to save you. Oh, and you get to spend how many years in Purgatory? No thanks, my brain is hurting too much to get into this online. We'll go our separate ways.
oh, and quickly, brother. John 16:13 in context, is when Christ was telling his disciples why he had to leave the earth; to send the comforter. He was talking about a specific event, the Holy Spirit coming on the Day of Pentacost, to baptize them into the church. The church had not been yet formed. It says nothing about scripture, although scripture was around. Remember the Old Testament? Good day, and hope His spirit grabs ahold of you in a mighty way.
By the way, Mary Co-redemtrix is not Catholic Dogma (or have not yet), so we are not obliged to believe. Also, Catholic didn't teach we have to pray to Mary. All Catholic teaching can be read at Cathechism Catholic Church.
Most people misunderstood Catholic belief, so to know, you have to check first party sources.
Now, about sacraments, good works and purgatory, you could check Church earliest teaching by reading their writing in early century like Didache.
And also, Church born first, and she created / compiled the Bible in third century. It is not Bible who born first.
So.. Where is "sola scriptura" / or Only Bible sole authority to teach faith , in Bible verses?
What about the Rosary? My mom prays that just about every day. That isn't prayer to her? And you are absolutely correct that Co-Redemptrix isn't in "official" doctrine. However, it's been thrown around in the Catholic church since 200 hasn't it? But I do apologize for that slip. It's only unofficial doctrine www.ewtn.com/library/papaldoc/jp2bvm48.htm
