Mass Wedding Ceremony Takes Place in Kabul, Afghanistan

- Dozens of Afghan women covered in green shawls are married to Afghan men in a mass wedding ceremony in Kabul, Afghanistan, Monday, June 13.
The ceremony was attended by hundreds of guests and gun-toting Taliban fighters.
Marriage is a costly affair in deeply impoverished Afghanistan, traditionally involving huge dowries, expensive gifts and lavish parties.
This ceremony hitching 70 couples was one of the largest recently witnessed in Afghanistan, currently in economic freefall since the return of the Taliban.
Guests of opposite sexes were separated by around a dozen Taliban fighters patrolling with weapons, and the only entertainment was poetry recitations and speeches by charity organizers of the event.

For those who didn't know, babies were thrown by desperate mothers over the concrete fences of Kabul airport. Most of them died in the surrounding barbed wire, and thousands of allies were left behind because of poor planning, honestly, I'm disgusted that most people have already turned the page and no one has been held accountable

This doesn't look all that different from weddings before the Taliban takeover. Brides were still fully covered and the spectacle was largely for the men.
I have visited Afghanistan many times but the weddings were different than these ones, though they took place in Kabul.
Before takeover after takeover the people shall not change their religion due to men invading them. Fear and love of Allah is above any other measure. Women are deemed highly and they are not something to shown for all on display in their car ads as is done in the west… Afghan women love the life that they have else u would have seen them complaining. The one or two u see that are brain washed by the west is not representative of Afghanistan’s women. Afghan women do party and they enjoy their time but it is not for your eyes to see … you are allowed to share your mum, your wife you sisters, your aunt and your nieces free presence and to look at … but not all the other women in the world for no reason 😂😅😅😂😂

These could not afford a wedding individually and instead of waiting years to save up, they took advantage of this, where some wealthy people donated money for this large ceremony.

They were not like that, pre 8 th century, ancient Afganistan was the heart of Gandhara Buddhism and dardic Hinduism and had many ancient universities. They were a bright land once. Eg Taxila University, it was world famous people from all over the world came there including all the way from Greeks
