  • The Western Lake Superior Sanitary District gets a lot of questions about what to do with “weird waste.”
Emma Pardini, the environmental program coordinator, helps people figure out what’s recyclable and what belongs in the trash.
On this installment of #WeirdWasteWednesday, Emma helped sort through weird waste from WDIO staff’s homes and apartments.
Paints and stains that are no longer needed should be given to Household Hazardous Waste in Lincoln Park. Same goes for household chemicals, spa chemicals, fertilizers, insecticides, and pesticides.
But if there’s enough of them, that can be put back out on free shelves.
Items that are too bulky to fit in the regular trash typically belong at Materials Recovery Center. They may even get set out for free for someone else to take home.
