I’ve been driving for five years. I got my CDL as soon as I turned 21 and it was honestly the best decision I have ever made in my life. After my first year of trucking, I haven’t made less than $60,000 and for being in your early 20s that’s honestly a pretty good living

Yes bro it changed mines too but get them endorsements and you never have to worry my email be jumping every day but I didn't stop there I went and got a merchant Marine credential for my back up and make sure get that twic card too! Wish y'all the best 💯

Truck Driving can be a great career if you make good decisions with your income. If your working for a company and they offer 401k or IRA Have 6 to 10 percent automatically taken out of your ck or open a roth . point being retirement savings is a must you don't want to be 70 and driving still its hard . Think life after driving its a good career.

It all depends on the union contract when I started I came in at 25hr and we just did our new contract with the union and they changed it now it’s 18 months to hit scale compared to 30 months so I was within that time frame so I’m at 41hr and every year for the next 5 years it’s $1.50 a year raise

With the knew law pass recently allowing 18 years old to get there cdl is pretty cool. I wish I could’ve got my CDL at 18 I would’ve been started a long time ago. Trucking is a great career. You’re young so you have time to try different things and find out what you like the best.

I totally agree with you. Truck driving is not for everybody and you got to have a strong mentality to pull through in this industry. Patience is another skill that you got to have and health is wealth. Just because people get their CDL doesn’t affect pay rates. It’s the new owner ops that accept any pay rate thrown at them. It ain’t no negotiation at all. I mean when you get your CDL what can you do with them other than trucking? 🤔 I’m confused on that one. I made the video on my personal experience. I can’t speak for everybody else. Some people get they CDLS and it was the worst decision they could make but for me it work out for the better for me
@@GrandMasterDeeTV Mega carriers play a roll in the rates, they have the majority especially compared to the O/O’s. I watch the Authorities increase/ Decrease weekly. Shippers of course want product moved at a lower cost & that’s when the broker comes in & they have a bidding war against each other leaving “No room” for negotiation because of their customer. For example TMC cut a rate from 6K to 3 from an O/O. Trucking on the other you can 2x - 3X your income quicker than other trades like being an lineman ( don’t have to have a CDL But is a + ) also folks don’t look into becoming a crane operate which requires your CDL. Which again everyone ties CDL with trucking when you have 2 other options
You right I didn’t think about it like that. I also agree there are other trades that can triple your income. Trades give you the opportunity of getting a degree in a shorter time and cheaper vs going to college and you can make higher income coming out of school than somebody that goes to college
I live a simple life. I’m very frugal and have a budget too. I live below my means. That’s it really. I also have my bill separated throughout the month so I don’t be having them all due at one time

@@prodev4012 you get paid during that time just not top dollar, 9 months flies by. think about it march the 1st of this year is basically 9 months ago. also, some of your local ltl companies have program also, so that way you're already at a good company. let say today was your first official day of your 9 months contract you would be done by July of next year. I'm personally not going that route to get my CDL but I understand that route.

There’s a couple companies that will. But look into your state to see if they have grants
Go through the government, look up “government pay cdl school” and you will see grants for cdl training💯

Dealing with weather is part of the job , you just get your sleep and when the weathers bad you slow down keep your distance and stay alert
