What are you doing for single word negatives? Is broad or phase better for that? For Example, Industry: moving company. Negative phase: car transport. (We never move cars or want to fire ads for anything car related) should I broad or phase match “cars”? In your video at 18:53 why not just add “wash” instead of the phase “how to wash” or “price to wash”? Wouldn’t blocking “wash” be more effective to negate?
For single keywords match type doesn't matter they will behave the same. You're correct, in this case adding "wash" instead of "how to wash" would have been more effective.
Can’t tell you how obsessed I am with your channel! Love what you’re doing in the space. Quick question* if I wanted to remove “add on’s” like how to, mean, UA-cam. Would phrase be best or broad?
Broad would be fine for those terms you mentioned. I'm a bit weird and just always use phrase even when broad would work fine. Just looks clean to me when reviewing my neg list.
What would be the best approach for handling negative keywords with your setup, if you had up to several campaigns with ads in different languages? For example, if you had campaigns in English running in the US, while others ran in German in Germany, how would you structure and handle your negative keyword lists?
I would just create specific language neg lists. For example, if I had a Universal English negative keyword list then I would also have a Universal German negative keyword list.
Thanks for such a informative vdo, i have only 1 product listed in merchant center, should i start with 1 product in shopping ads or should i add more? it's my first time running shopping ads 😊
Thank you for the simplicity. Where to find Search Terms in updated UI? Also, is there any way to easily move positive keywords to negative? I copied over an ad group where I had all my keywords in one group, and am now separating them.
I will try and do an updated video eventually with the new UI. Negatives are found in your Search Keywords section and then there is a tab for them called Negative Search Keywords above the search terms.
I'm currently setting up google ads campaing and so negative keywords for my mother's wedding decoration business. She's not selling, nor renting out stuff and we're not offering education. Based on my interpretation on the negative keyword match logic I'd just add the words course, license, buying, renting, "for rent", used etc. only bc broad match will trigger these keywords for search phrases with extra words right? Thank u
We're still testing PMax for lead gen and local service - I still don't like the results since most of it is junk and we still get better quality from standard search. However, once I feel confident in a strategy that produces quality leads for local service from PMax I'll make a video on it.
Hello everything is fine? Thanks for the video. Do you know of any way to identify Search Terms that do not appear but are charged? They spend and stay in OTHER SEARCH TERMS. How to discover them. Do you know any solution? I thank you in advance.
can you make a detailed video on how to setup branded and competitor campaigns? please use your brand when it comes branded campaign and add keywords also, so i can know which type of keywords can be used in branded campaign and for competitor campaign use any of your competitor and also add keywords during setup so i know which type of keywords can be used in competitor campaign
I have a question. My main generic kw is "dog treat". I'm compiling my neg kw list and want to add "dog treat biscuit recipe" as a neg. Is that correct or will it affect my main kw as it also contains the words dog treat? Thanks so much! Love your videos and amazing info!
You would be fine adding "dog treat biscuit recipe". If "recipe" is really what you are trying to avoid showing ads for since you are not offering recipes than I would recommend just adding "recipe" and "recipes" as the negative root words to negate all search terms that contain the word recipe in them.
But when you add negative key words from your search term report day to day, you can only add it once, as either broad phrase or exact. Do you have to add each keyword in TWICE, both as exact so it's removed from the report, then as the second match type that suits it the most?
If you want to show it as removed from search term report then yes you would have to add it as exact and then also add as phrase or broad for the efficiency.
Thanks. I though you don't need to add cities into your negatice keywords rather you should add your target location so that only people on that location can see your ads.
Yea you should do that as well, but you'll still want to keep an eye out on people searching for out of areas. Not as bad of an issue in smaller cities, but when you are in a large city you'll get some searches for people looking elsewhere (multiple home owners, people searching on behalf of family or friends out of state etc...)
Question: why not just add (how to) as broad? Why are you adding “how to wash roof”? Same with (cost). Why not just add cost as broad and be done with it? Price another example or how much. Thank you
Yea I suppose I could have used better examples. In this case if you don't want to show for anything related to cost then it would be more efficient to just add "cost" as neg.
Brand = your company name Competitor = your competitor names For example, Grow My Ads is our Brand term and any other Google Ads agency would be competitor terms.
i am selling mattress. i added keyword as mattress and I added the negative keyword with competitor name . for example competitor name - sleepezzz mattress. Does it will affect my added keyword quality. I talk with google ads expert the said that it will effect so only add sleepezzz. if you add sleepezzz mattress then your mattress keyword will not work. Is google right about this?
Just add "sleepezzz" as a negative keyword in this case. Adding "sleepezzz mattress" as a negative won't hurt you but it is more efficient to just add "sleepezzz"
This is the best video by far I have seen on Negative keywords, you made all the concepts really clear.
Thank you!

@@growmyads just odd that "cost to wash" being added would still allow "cost to wash roof" to trigger the add 😂
Thank you, great job!

Yea it is tricky but can be done. I talk about it in the PMax course: ua-cam.com/video/i_YMgSCUSBo/v-deo.html

Google hides these unfortunately. No way of knowing what they are.

1000 negative keywords wouldn't be enough if you wanted to include competitor names
Your easier to listen to then Ed Leake just saying lol
I don't know...Ed has that smooth UK accent.
Your video doesn’t explain how to add negative keywords. I watched 10 min and found no advice. You talk too much.
He explains the whole process very well… watch from 11:30 mark
