It was a long time ago and memories get mixed up but contrary to what carmine said, the Isle of Wight was not Jimi's last show. That was August 30, 1970. Jimi actually played four more shows and died on September 18. One interesting thing that was documented in a interview with Tim Bogert is that The Vanilla Fudge played a gig with Hendrix on September 1, 1968 at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver. He said that he and Carmine played the sound check with Jimi. Now THAT is a tape I would like to hear...Hendrix backed by Tim Bogert and Carmine Appice! The mind boggles.
Carmine, I met you back in the very early ‘80’s, after you were done with Ozzy and with King Cobra, in Hamilton, Ontario Canada, when you did a drum seminar. It’s funny, you still look the same😄 You were a real cool guy to a little punk like me, you made me feel like I could become somebody one day. I just want to say, I loved you with Ozzy and Jake, and I loved your playing in the “Fudge”. Your drumming is superb. I’m a guitar player, I would have loved to play “Bark at the Moon” with you, or anything. Take care Carmine, luv your stuff. Cheers.
Met Carmine at a Sabarro's in the Austin, Tx airport around 2007....I did the fan thing and interrupted his meal, but he went with it when he figured out that I brought something to the conversation. He talked about Rusty O'day-singer w Cactus "lived by the sword and died by it"..He was exactly as he appears here-just a NY paisan....great fellah..
Fun fact: Cactus recorded their second LP "One Way Or Another" just after Jimi's death at Electric Ladyland studio with Edwin G Kramer! No wonder it was a sonically perfect recording! As if the spirit of Jimi was in the room cheering them on!
You're right, Isle of Fehmarn was his last. The exhaustive European festival trips to pay for Electric Lady Studio... terrible rains, the fans booing him. It's no wonder he's had enough of everyone. All that and a thieving manager.
You're right. It's not "Ah Peace." That was changed when he got with Rod Stewart by the manager who wanted his name to be consistent. In other words, people already thought it was pronounced "Ah Peace" so they went with it.

FAIL.... Last show was not Isle of Wight Carmine. It was a week later at the Open Air Love & Peace Festival in Fehmarn, Germany on September 6, 1970.

Those were good stories. "Carmine A-Peese' (?) on the drums!" I always thought it was App'-uh-cee.
It’s not apussy

Beck Bogart and Appacie !....
Well, first time Carmine didn’t break into songs about himself?
FFS! Jimi never meant those lyrics to be auctioned. They were supposed to be performed!
