Heh, what's kinda funny is that in episode 1, she gave him horrible vegan bacon because she thought it would help keep him healthy. She gave him real bacon here because she doesn't care anymore.
Ironic since real bacon is far healthier than that vegan crap
LOL, I love how he keeps saying "Skyler's sad because her 'boyfriend' is in the hospital" as opposed to, you know, "she's terrified because her husband bombed a nursing home, killed a lot of people, and yet he doesn't seem remotely shaken by such acts." Like dude, she's convinced she's trapped in a house with a sociopath, she's not even THINKING about Ted any more.

Uh, from almost everybody's perspective, outside of Hank and Marie not knowing about Walt's true life, offering to take the kids for a few days is a PERFECTLY fine offer. I know your solution is to kick Skyler to the curb, but from the other character's positions, they see a couple having intense marriage issues and they want to give them the chance to work on those issues, minus the distraction of the kids.
Its fine for kids to be away from their parents for a little while, stay with their Aunt and Uncle. Its fine. In fact its usually better. If the parents are at odds with each other, mom stressing and scared and the kids dont know why, the dad not knowing how to fix it, that is just a toxic environment for the kids. So yes, kids, get out of that house for a few days so your parents can work on patching things up.

Walt’s rationale for doing all of this is for his family. He can’t come to grips with Skyler’s rejection.
Very good question about why Walt insists on staying - my theory has always been that Walt considers leaving to be "losing" or "giving up" in some way, and so refuses to budge. Moreover, I think he insists on staying because part of him is still clinging to the idea that he can "have it all" - the criminal empire AND the perfect family life at home. He doesn't want to admit that those two goals are fundamentally incompatible.
Yes, he's chasing the idea instead of facing the reality.
Yep and remember, Walt already left a relationship that was not only fufilling for his life (Gretchen) but also a business where he would have been set up for life, financially. He doesn't want to lose either of those again. He cooked up drugs for this family, he killed for this family, he blew up a room in a hospital...for this family. He does not want to lose it all.
While granted, yes in MOST relationships, if there is infidelity from one half of the relationship, 9 times out of 10 it means that relationship is now over, no matter how much the one that was cheated on might still love and care for the other person who did the cheating.
Walt needs to justify his actions by keeping his family together. If he goes off on his own he'll have to admit he's doing it for himself

Honestly, cheers to you. I know you're not a Skylar fan, but I was honestly impressed that you listened, understood, and then whole heartedly agree with some of the points she was making. I thought that you might have had the blinders on, but you didn't let your past judgements from preventing you from hearing truth and facts.
Granted, the episode did grease the wheels with Skylar cooking real bacon, and getting a chocolate cake, so that might have started the cracks.
Why are you impressed that *by season 5* he finally sees the positive side of Skyler?

I like how he keeps trying to rationalize murder and selling hard drugs as being better than someone cheating. Like people kill people every day, but cheating OH NO that doesn't happen in a relationship. LMFAO!!!! He fanning over Walt so bad I am now sus of him. IMO Skyler was never weak. That's why he opposes her. He wants a wife that doesn't ask questions and accepts any answer and behavior. Walt had a wife in the beginning that made a big deal out of his birthday. A wife who wanted him to eat healthy because she loved him and cared about him. She didn't change, he did. And now he is surprised that the wife started changing her behavior.
Selling hard drugs is better than cheating. People don't buy drugs against their will.

I mean to be fair to Walt Jr. he is the product of his parents, Walt Sr. had been a pretty soft, nerdy guy who gets pushed around for most of Jrs life. At this point in the show its been exactly 1 year since episode one, so this version of his dad is pretty new to Walt Jr.
I think that would work if he was 12. But at 16 he hasn’t developed any character. He has this fairy tale view of his dad even though in his eyes his dad is a loser boomer half the time, and he manipulates his dad into buying him off. I agree with Mrlboyd that he’s just a badly written character. He should have some principles and some sense in him by this age. It’s almost like the writers subconsciously gave him ‘slack’ because he has cerebral palsy because I can’t think of any other good reason why they’d give a 16yo boy such an ‘innocent’ and unrealistic character.

So you agreed at the end that Walt is a bad influence for his kids and it’s probably best that he leave but when Skyler wants to keep him from the kids because of his influence it’s not okay. I guess it’s only okay when it is Walt making that decision? That doesn’t make sense to me.

It is one of those weird names which had 2 common variants which, historically pretty rigidly followed gender lines. And this show ran before the era of 273 genders...so it was pretty simple:
Skylar is male
Skyler is female
That was right 99% of the time.
But even ignoring all of that, just read any official cast list for the show. She is "Skyler White"

The biggest weakness of the show is that Skyler and Marie are drastically underwritten compared to Walt, Hank, Jesse and even Gus. The lack of a backstory for Skyler, given her prominence in the story, allows for viewers to fill in the lack of depth of her pathology with their own values and beliefs which obfuscates what's actually being shown, which is that narcissism is her overriding character flaw as opposed to Walt's ego and Hank's pride, which are much more developed and portrayed with more depth.

I realize you think cring and such emotions mean attention. But in Skylars case she wans't in the pool for attention. She is suicidal beacuse her husband is a criminal who ruining things. Sure, Skylar isn't exactly a good person either of course. But compared to Walt, she's way less of a criminal. As for the marrige not being fixable, I mean it is. Most people can fix a marraige after cheating. Some do indeed think about the incident forever. Others don't.
I agree it was not for attention, but don’t think she was actually suicidal either, she was just doing something desperate in an attempt to get the kids out of the house because she is scared of Walt and the dangerous business he is in. She can’t make him leave the house, but she can at least try to protect her kids in case anyone comes after him.

Like I said shes a horrible character... Even Marie is better
