Nice movie 🍿-it was worth watching and a good comedy! 👍👍👍👍👍
Scotty Beckett who played Corky Wallet, had started out as one of the cutest, most successful child actors of the 1930s and 1940s. Scotty made his debut in Gallant Lady (1933). Starring in many more movies in his life, including appearing in fifteen Our Gang shorts in two years. He went on to have a tragic ending in 1968, dying at the age of 38, from an overdose. His descent into a life of alcoholism, drugs, and crime still remains one of the most tragic of Hollywood stories.
Pleasant and unassuming little movie depicting the gentle but yet tough-as-steel America of days gone by. Like the stardust of a dissipating dream, the US saw this America begin to exfoliate itself away in the middle 1960's. Sixty years, and the country is nearly unrecognizable from what had existed before. But one thing seems to be a constant-- taxes beyond reason assessed on medium and small business owners . Were jukeboxes actually taxed?
Very entertaining. Thanks!
Thanks for posting. 😊
They lived in the same house that was built for the Blondie movies , which was used in Father Knows Best, Dennis the Menace and I Dream of Jeannie .
Interesting/informative/entertaining 😉. Enjoy viewing 👀 the cars/phones/indoor & outdoor lighting/kitchen appliances/cooks outfits/cash register/diner/along with other artifacts of that era 😉. An enjoyable glorious ( B&W ) movie 🎥 to view 👀 on the final Sunday afternoon of (2024)😉. Wishing viewers a Safe/Healthy/Prosperous 🌈🎉💵( 2025).
Don't forget to watch the sequel "Corky of Gasoline Alley" (1951)
Today's Hollywood is so brainless. No real comedy or drama or thriller. Even when they remake the great movies they are too dumb to capture the greatness of the old time ones
Corkey looks like Luigi Mangione 🤣
Good guy Luigi Saint of the People!
That's Mike from the early My Three Sons days. Kept waiting to see Fred McMurry come in smoking his pipe
If teenagers still learned about how the US government works we wouldnt be in the situation we are in today- how many current teens could even define a filibuster let alone learn any laws pertaining to it?
If old movies are accurate people used to drink coffee at all times of day or night. Must have had less caffeine.
Why was it so over-looked by the producers and audiences in many of the films from the 40's and 50's that the actors playing the parts of theses supposedly young fathers were in actuality more akin in fact to filling the role of the kid's grandfathers. Could it have been simply that many younger men had died in World War 2 and so the studios options were small or was it a matter of some kind of seniority and work experience the Screen Actors Guild members had written into their contracts? Either way, the casting of these old men as fathers of newborn babies and adolescents should have appeared odd to both producers and the viewing audience even back then as it does today. ... And shocker of shockers it's 1951 and they actually show the young newly married couple in a bedroom with just one bed and sitting on it together!... Even in the 1960's all films and T.V. shows showed double beds during bedroom shots!
FYI, Don Beddo was only 48 when he played the father of two college age sons in this movie. That means he "hypothetically" would have been 21 to 23 when he had his sons and perhaps 32 when he had the daughter. I didn't have my 1st kid until I was 40!
So much for your theory! 😮
My dad had 4 went to war came back and 4 more. Yes my nephew is only 2 yrs younger than me 😊
Seriously? There have always been lots of "older fathers" since men dont experience menopause, and yes, the toll of the war did make more women opt to marry older men who werent drafted during wartime, its modern media that always opts for ridiculously young actors as the fathers and husbands of the average family.
Such a funny commentary. I will pay attention as I watch.
America when it was great despite the prejudices.
❤🙏😇🙏❤️
How I got my name Corky
Bad end for Beddoe…shot to death by ex wife at trocadero on sunset😺
Au contraire!
Fact Check: Beddoe died of natural causes on January 19, 1991, at age 87.[Wikipedia]😢😮
@ what did the president know..and when did he know it…..fact check that or susch out to Albania😺
Spoiler alert..real stinkeroo 😺
Sounds like Family Values are not part of your heritage from Albania. Do you just want to "Tear Down" instead of Building up respect for each other? I don't think the movie is the "Stinkeroo" here. Good luck to you in Life.
A positive attitude is better than going around looking for, What you think, the negative in Life.
@ put that coffee Down….coffee is for closers only😺
