In Memoriam was my favorite book I read in 2023. It was similarly out of my comfort zone, but I could not stop thinking about Gaunt and Elwood long after I finished it. I never listened to the audiobook, but now that I've heard what you've said, I might just need to pick it up on reread!

Yessss Impossible Creatures is so good! I’m a children’s bookseller and it was my (and several of my colleagues!) favourite middle grade of last year.

I desperately want to read In Memoriam! I’m waiting for the paperback to come out but I’m tempted to listen to the audiobook… I’m not an audiobook kind of person usually but I might do it for this one!
