While no one should dispute the beautiful quality and in-depth perspective of this video I am disappointed that NO ONE ever talks about the production rigger and engineers that make all of their eye candy possible. Those towers, audio arrays, lights, and video screens would never exist if it wasn't for the under appreciated rigging crew who put it all up and make it safe for everyone to be under.
I went with a group to see it, and I’m not the biggest fan of his music, so I spent a lot of time marveling at the stage design. Beautiful combo of art and engineering. I particularly love the way they use multi colored spotlights to paint designs on the audience. I made sure to stay after a little bit to let the crowd leave and watch the crew pack it up. there’s probably 100 people involved with putting it away several of which put on harnesses and got up in the rigging.
It took 4 days to build the stage and another day to hook up the video panels, lights, consoles, and speakers. Meanwhile, a duplicate stage was on its way to the next stop on the tour. These productions are just massive.
I think it was really incredible seeing how they scaled up everything by so much compared to the last tour which already was incredible. Touring with this setup, loading in and out that gigantic thing, must be an incredible amount of work.
Moritz, we were speechless too. The 360 degree approach gives viewers a much more immersive feel. It's a big difference from the previous design. The effort definitely pays off on a tour like this when you have hundreds (!) of concerts.
Just blows my mind everytime to see how much work actually goes on behind the scenes just to give us a really good show, not to mention the amount of hours these guys put in from planning, designing, building and setting up the stage and obviously the sound, lighting and visual equipment they use for these shows.. it's really incredible!! Thank you event elevator for giving us a chance to actually see what goes on behind the scenes in huge events like these. Great work guys!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Cool, we're so glad you like the video. We're doing our best to get hold of these massive live sets. And if you like the videos, it's absolutely worth the effort. Thank you so much for your kind words.
Saw this tour with my friend Beth a couple months ago at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass. Tremendous show and great Live Production. Love these BTS Videos. So much effort and dedication goes into these Live Productions and I hope the technicians and road crew knows how much their work is appreciated by everyone!!
Yeah, now imagine how much more work it is for an actual band was five or six live musicians playing instruments instead of just one guy playing along to a recording
This is incredible. I’ve been designing stages for fun for over 10 years, I’ve always wanted to hear more about concerts in depth like this. PLEASE 🙏🏼 please please please make a similar video for Taylor’s upcoming tour! “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” I’d love to see something like this from you guys; An in depth video about the lightning, the sound, the stage design, the rigging, the architecture of the stage, and fixtures/other equipment. Please try to see if you could make a video as long or longer than this about Taylor Swift’s upcoming tour!
Alex, thank you for your kind words. We'll see where we can get on the set. You're right Taylor Swift's design is extremely chic. We visited some exciting projects that are currently being edited. So let yourself be surprised what we will be releasing here soon…🤘
@@EventElevator HII, if you have the time, do one on IU's concert! Like the one she had recently in Korea. A FRICKING HOT AIR BALLOON in a stadium like whAt??!! the concert was called The Golden Hour
Hi, I believe everything is going well. We’re company manufacturing LED. We’re located in China Shenzhen. I will be happy if you can share your phone number with us for more informations. Currently, we’re giving best prices for our customers. Thank you!
I came across this video looking for exactly that, as a small stage/lighting designer I really want to hear from the team behind the stage. I don't know if the Era's Tour has some NDAs in play, but I can't tell from basic google searches what production companies are involved, dying to know if this is another Tait masterpiece or what.
One of the best, if not the best Tour Production this year. Absolutely amazing and unique, recognizable design! And an interesting step to restart the Touring-Business with such an banger. Huge Respect!
You are absolutely right. For us, too, everything stood still for such a long time. It's so awesome to feel the energy of the crews and live people again. It was a cool summer ---> hopefully it stays that way. The new Ed Sheeran Tour had a super positive aura. And technically it was really perfectly programmed and designed.
the best part of the video absolutely incredible the sound of the crowd when the lights go out and the show starts is something that is simply an unmatched sensation when you are part of the production.... this brings together everything that for years many colleagues live with passion in the industry.
Fernando, you are so right. With all the technology, it's still about the people who provide the emotions and those otherworldly live moments. All the crew's efforts pay off when you really feel the audience's enthusiasm. This is the essence of live business.
Hi, I was at the show, the sound, lighting and production is straight from heaven! My only Q I have, Ed's been doing the tour globally, how the hell is he getting the gear around ? The huge towers and custom designs of the staging and all of that? Really trying to get my head over it.
They usually have continental stages. It happens from tour to tour that gear gets shipped. For example: the famous u2 stage back in the day had 3 versions. 2 crews. Do they can tear one down and build one at the same time.
If I were to ever shake ED's hand.. I hope ya'll would feel it! He's got an amazing team behind him and I love to see that! congrats in allllll of your success! ED's created a team of amazing people!
I love the videos about breaking down how shows work... It'd be fantastic if you could sneak into Tomorrowland someday, and have the crew explain how that's made possible.
Hey DJ, thank you for your kind words. Tomorrowland is certainly something that has been on our list for a long time. Let's see what the future brings. Cheers!
What a setup, and what a show. I've never worked events of that size, but something that I love regardless of the size of a show is the atmosphere when the show gets on the road, whether it be a show for 300 people or 3000, it's great to be a part of something that to me is very special.
Sensational video. I couldn’t agree with Chris more, the feeling you get when the lights go out and the crowd lose their mind is unlike any other feeling. I spent 15 years on the road, I worked in that very stadium a few times and so many more as an audio tech. It can be really tough being away for so long, but those times make it all worth it. I’ve left the industry now and seeing this makes me miss some parts of the job. Still some of the best years of my life though.
This stage design is amazing ! This is one point I love going to Festivals, especially edm festivals, because the stage designs are just insane every year. The amount of work just for one or three days is incredible. Almost sad to see if everything gets torn apart after the show.
Well, the show was and is worth the effort. The great music of Ed Sheeran presented and supported by an excellent stage (with crowds of experts in the dungeons working together to make the whole thing a success). Congrats to everyone involved!
Thank you for your kind words. As far as we know the technical service provider for the lighting on this tour was LCR. So everything related to Ayrton was provided by this company. www.lcr-rental.com/
@@EventElevator Thank you! A ton of Ayrton fixtures went out with The Rolling Stones too. Clay Paky and Robe must be worried lol! Ed Sheeran's production is absolutely top notch and this is one of your finest videos yet!
incredible insight. To work out a stage, lighting, time scale, dates, transportation and budget for a tour must take a while. Must cost so much before a ticket is even sold. Great to see what work goes into something like this.
We went to the show at Soldier Field in Chicago and it was fantastic! The engineering needed to create that set with the floating halo amazing. All the pieces worked beautifully; at least to my untrained eyes. The IMAG screens shaped like guitar pics, the lights on the pillars and the halo. I recorded parts of the show and every time I watch the video, I discover something new. But it works and Ed Sheeran is free to roam the stage, create his loops and share his stories with the audience. Kudos to everyone.
Your're right, what Mark Cunniffe is producing here is truly breathtaking. Not only does the concept create a very immersive feeling for the audience, the whole set also has a super-positive aura that can carry over to entire stadiums. A masterpiece.
I didn't understand hardly any of the jargon but loved every minute of the video. Really looking forward to seeing this tour in Wellington New Zealand early next year!
I kept pausing to look up the equipment they mentioned. The Ayrton Perseo lights that hang on the underside of the big circle cost 6500 dollars EACH! The Ayrton Domino LT lights on the masts are even worse, I found them online for 15k dollars each. The value of the entire setup is absolutely insane.
We were also very happy to see the crew again. Super friendly and technically excellent people. Unfortunately, the time for shooting was limited. But we are so happy to give a little insight into the new show concept. A significant improvement on the previous tour - which was amazing and really good. One man rocks the whole stadium.
I've worked as a stagehand and this is absolutely amazing. I'd be totally honored if I get a chance to work on this in Denver. I definitely will be going to this show
I love your videos. Absolutely stellar production. I do miss some talk about the IMAG and visuals side of the production though - like how many disguise servers it took for that massive setup, and how they went about it.
Yes, the video production would be a cool separate video. Unfortunately this time our access to the set was a bit short to cover so much. Let's see, maybe an article on video technology will appear. We're glad you like the video.🤘
It's great to see a stage like this going out on tour,, props to the whole team.. It's a huge step up from the divide tour,, which was pretty dire in term of stage design.. The Lamb, exactly, such a 360 set has a completely different effect. You are close to the artist, the immersive feeling. It makes total sense with a one man performer like Ed.

Super Video! Richtig cool! Ich würde mich freuen, wenn du in den nächsten Projekten auch Videotechnische Aspekte berücksichtigst, wie bsp. die Medien Server etc. super gespannt, wie der Workflow bei solchen gigantischen Produktionen aussieht.
Very impressive production, Really nice to see a full rig of Ayrtons beeing used. The only thing I would comment on, (and that's not a critique of Ed Sheeran or the crew/designers) Is that by the nature of a 360 design, I feel that the lights don't have as much of a presence as a traditionell stage. Also it's outside and that's also affects it. And the point of the artist and the music is to take up the most presence, not an EDM lightshow. Of cause I might be biased towards light because I'm an LD myself, But If I were to design a concert, I would do a clean arena design with tons of lights.
Hey team, I heard Ed's looper failed in NZ. Just curious if you could do a video on this? Life goes on, but it's just interesting to know for future memory bank. Cheers. 😊
Superkaboose…there are really a lot of engineers who relay on internal processing. Excellent preamps, short latencies, reliability. With an SD7 you don't need much else around you. However, you can also do that with the other big brands like Avid.
Very impressive, I am not a fan of Ed but greatly respect what he does and he seems to be a very good person in general, I really like that he is not flashy..well besides this stage setup.
I have to imagine it’s pretty easy if a singer strictly uses pre-recorded vocals versus a singer singing live. So, impresses me even more those artists who sing live.
I actually thought the loop stations became wireless since they’ve been placed on the rotating stage & there’s a chance that the cables would get caught up in something 😅 but it looks like it isn’t wireless
@eventelevator Since you've got the inside connection, what do you think the chances are of getting some information about the Rigging and Structural Design? I'd love to know what the engineering is like with this unique setup.
Hey Riley, unfortunately we had only limited access to the project here. We had asked about this point in advance and would have loved to show more about the construction/rigging, but that was not possible. Maybe at the end of the tour run it will be a little easier to report more about that point. Check out this for more details on the construction wonder.co.uk/projects/ed-sheeran-the-mathematics-tour-2022/ --- www.stageone.co.uk/projects/ed-sheeran-mathematics-tour/ --- cheers!
I remember seeing U2 with Jay Z in Australia and they had a 360 stage basically. But their sound was pretty terrible for an arena lol Just sounded like a soundscape with bass and bono. No clarity. You basically have to keep each quadrant in its own sound path. But the reflections can be so overpower for cheap seats 😂
Fantastic design and phenomenal production value, kudos to the teams that put this together every night.... Its just a shame that all this is for a rather unremarkable artist
While no one should dispute the beautiful quality and in-depth perspective of this video I am disappointed that NO ONE ever talks about the production rigger and engineers that make all of their eye candy possible. I have to imagine it’s pretty easy if a singer strictly uses pre-recorded vocals versus a singer singing live. So, impresses me even more those artists who sing live.
I hate Ed Sheerans music but this production is impressive, thanks for the insight!
and yet he shines the most in smaller venues when he unplugs the guitar and doesn't even use the mic. I think he enjoys that more.
Could it bepossible to create light shows that wont affect people with epilepsy??
brilliant video.. great insight
Where is the backing band sited ?
Mindblowing. I feel like most of the crowd doesn't know how much work goes in such productions.
This is amazing 😮
Shalom regards from Cancun
I mean the music is alright but i love to see the bts and what goes into making all it happen
Thanks for this video ❤
I actually thought the loop stations became wireless since they’ve been placed on the rotating stage & there’s a chance that the cables would get caught up in something 😅 but it looks like it isn’t wireless
Super Bericht, Jungs!
So what happened in Las Vegas? Ed said it had some to do with the load in.
Please do the eras tour next!
Amazing
Great Video Guy's 👏🎬
Impressive
I used to setup lighting rigs for productions like this. Now I work in aerospace engineering and I haven't looked back 🙃
Please a behind scenes of Love On Tour of Harry Styles 💕🔥
Sequel with video, rigging and staging?
Alles geschlossen, beton, blech, glas.
In dieser 360° Anwendung, kann man sagen was man will, ist die SL Serie von d&b in Verbindung mit ArrayProcessing einfach das um Längen bessere System.
Die Kontrolle mit diesem Systen ist unfassbar gut.
Well done !
What does a person have to study to pursue such a career?
Great coverage! Awesome gig...
Please add visual design as well, how the videos are operated.
I have to meet this guy now along with Mark workman
but aren't most live music events mono, not stereo sound, left/right? it would be horrible to pay for tickets on the wrong side of the mix
Great video! But Sennheiser & Meyer Audio….. really ?! 🤣🤣🤣
The sound in Amsterdam ArenaA was so bad
It sounded like Ed Sheran was singing underwater.
Chris did say the round stage is the most difficult for sound he’s ever been a part of.
Same for me it was awfull. Most be the arena acoustics but was so bad that we went home.
The same was in Philadelphia on the upper level of the stadium.
Same for me in NJ. Echo was awful in the upper part of the stadium. Ed was great but we left early.
Meyer Sound Panther is the best
Maaaaasssiiiiiiiive
That's what we thought when we actually stood under the rig and the masts 🤘
I'm here X
I remember seeing U2 with Jay Z in Australia and they had a 360 stage basically. But their sound was pretty terrible for an arena lol Just sounded like a soundscape with bass and bono. No clarity. You basically have to keep each quadrant in its own sound path. But the reflections can be so overpower for cheap seats 😂
Fantastic design and phenomenal production value, kudos to the teams that put this together every night.... Its just a shame that all this is for a rather unremarkable artist
