Just stand on the fire and wait for them to come. It works like a scroll of challenge if you do that. Also swarm of flies + altar of sacrifice = guaranteed multiple scrolls of wipeout. I got 4 scrolls the first time the flies came to me
and the number of scrolls you get from swarm of flies is a matter of luck, to some extent. i think you'll be sure to get at least two or three if you kill four enemies followed by as many flies as you can
While you are marked for sacrifice, all kills count towards the scroll. After the flame on the altar went out, you got the buff for two more turns, and that's when you hit the rat. Because the rat is "Tagged" by you (You hit it while you had the buff), the game still recognizes it as a sacrifice, and because the sacrificed counter is maxed out, the second kill after the scroll also gives it.
you don't actually have to go look for things to kill, just tap the search button repeatedly while still right next to the altar and they'll come to you in their own. try it

To clarify, whenever you step in the blue flame (and thus gain the 'marked for sacrifice' buff) all enemies are alerted to your location (like the 'mind vision' potion shows you the enemy's location) and will come to attack you...and there's no need for enemies to step in the flame (as long as YOU have the buff, any enemy with a high enough level to give you 'experience points' will be deemed 'worthy' if you kill them). Also, I've had a similar experience with the scroll of wipeout, one time...I got five of them at once via a swarm of flies! Not sure how, though...I was standing on the pedestal the whole time, and didn't move from that spot til all the flies were dead.
@@MinorMountain That's right. I just played Shattered PD a while ago and I can say it is way better than vanilla PD. The Scroll of Wipeout was replaced by Retribution there. But to my comment, the dev probably fixed it already in some later update after this video. I really can't get more than one wipeout scroll even if I killed more rat after the scroll appeared while till having the sacrifice buff.
I agree I think shattered is one of the best versions. It's been awhile since I've played vanilla so I'm not sure if the mechanics in my video still work for the current version. Thanks for watching!
@@agent-33 the exotic version of that retribution scroll is basically wipeout but it's name is Psionic Blast it only kills visible enemies, so a mind vision potion is recommended also, recipe is stone of (any) + stone of (any) + the scroll. not to mention it's on recent versions

"the dev probably fixed it already in some later update after this video" - no, it still works (Watabou hasn't touched his game for years)...but i think it only works with flies, and not marsupial rats (i've never gotten it with any other enemy, flies only). I'm thinking it's probably a bug he SHOULD have fixed, but like i said he's stopped working on this game.

I used a lightning staff and got a bunch of enemy flies all around and got a total of 11 scrolls from an alter
How to surprise attack?
some mobs if you kill on the alter it will say "unworthy"

Why not just click the wait button?
Press waist time bottom. Hold it and then you fall asleep but you'll wake up when theres enemy.
...you can just stand on the alter and hit "skip move" and they will be drawn to the alter

that is not how you do it, you just need to kill things while you have the mark, you dont need to make them stand on the alter
Why do I keep getting 'Your sacrifice is unworthy'?! I never was able to get message 'Your sacrifice is worthy' Can anybody help me explain, please?
Only enemies within your range level are worthy.

All of these tips didn't work in Pixel Dungeon. I think it only works in Shattered PD.
