That was an honest review...I can respect that , props MRO
Thanks for watching.
Pretty sick looking bag. I like how you don’t fill the video with marketing BS either (like, THIS IS THE BEST BAG MONEY CAN BUY!!!) and tell it like it is.
Nestor Nazario Thanks for watching and trust us, we had the marketing BS just as much as you do! 🤙
Brian what an awesome and honest review. No smoke and mirrors. Just honest explanation of the products features. I truly respect you for that Sir. Sure says a lot about you as a person and the reputation of Mad River Outfitters. Thank you and God bless my friend. You are a true inspiration and blessing to the fly fishing community.
Thanks for being here.
I very much enjoy that you cater to all levels and budgets. I've had family and a local fly shops give me the, "yeah well, you really need (insert expensive high end product) if you're going to get into fly fishing." So hearing that you don't from someone of your caliber and pedigree is very reassuring.
Thanks for being here. We don't do any financial research on our customers beforehand. All are welcome and get the same level of service.
Nice video! Im a Fishpond guy. I have 10 year old Fishpond gear that's as good now as it was when new. I am not particularly easy on my gear, always wet, rarely clean it, and always seems to be packed full ! Lolol love this sport!!!!! Nice to see starter gear reasonably priced for those just getting Into the game!
As all outdoors gear should be treated! That's for watching, Michael! Stay tuned, lots more coming.
Just received this sling pack. Haven't used it yet, however I can't believe the features it provides for the modest cost, you're under selling it. I love your intro/tutorial vids (I'm a fly fishing rookie). I picked up my new fly rod and after watching your vids, I went out and within an hour got my casting down (I'm not saying I'm great), but I already feel like I'm ready to get out and have a chance at being successful!
Thanks for the support and thanks for watching.
Love your pack picked it up a few months ago. Have no issues or complaints. Keep up the good work. 👍
Thanks for the support!
Seems to be identical to my FishPond Sling pack which has served me extremely well although costed me about double the price. Have nothing but great things to say about it!
Pretty close on features but not quite the same quality as the Fishpond.
Carbon copy of the FishPond Summit pack. I have one and love it. I guess if there was a pack worth imitating, that would be it.
Ryan Mahoney it definitely varies in some features and quality, but it is similar to the Summit 👍 Great pack!
Been watching your videos and how you always talk about not having to spend a lot. Was in a store the other day looking at packs and about passed out when I saw $349. Will definitely be ordering this in the near future.
Thanks for watching and happy to help.
I got a Mad River outfitters sling pack for Christmas! I am thrilled with the quality!
Thanks for the support and thanks for sharing. Stay tuned.
I’ve watched enough of your videos I decided to buy something and am looking forward to trying out this sling bag vs my chest pack I have.
Thanks for watching and thanks for the support.
Very similar to my Fishpond Summit but this has more features on the strap. Nice design.
Doug Perrett I was thinking the same thing it’s like like my fishpond pack
I just sent this video to my GF. I'm hoping this will be a great birthday or Christmas present. And I love how it's well priced. I love all your stuff you guys make!
Cool. Thanks for being here.
Absolutely love your honesty.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the quick shipping! Just in time for Eastern Idaho!
Thanks for the support!
I just visited today and picked this up so I could dump my super cheap, terrible vest. I just got everything organized and look forward to getting out on a stream with it.
Thanks for the support!
I purchased one a few months ago, albeit from a different fly shop and I think it is a great bag. Does everything I need and then some. I think you forgot to mention about the waist strap which keeps the bag in place and doesn't allow it to rotate and hang on your side. VERY easy bag to use. Plenty of room and I think it will hold up just fine.
Thanks for the input Chris. Appreciate you watching.
I've had this pack for about two months and it is a great pack! Unfortunately, the bungee strap that holds in the water bottle snapped the first time I used it, but I've kept it because it's such a great pack otherwise.
Aaron Kozikowski They’ll replace it if you need. Just let the shop know.
I got mine for christmas and the strap snapped as well the first time I gave it a tug when checking the bag out. I pushed the cord back in and it seems to be holding. I'm not wanting a new pack just sharing
I actually cut the fly patch so I have a peice on the sling, a peice inside the work station, and a peice on the outside of the work station.
Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching.
Looking forward to episode 4 of casting tomorrow.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks Brian for a honest review 👍
Thanks for watching.
May have to keep this in mind
let us know if we can help further.
Not bad you all! Its a shame you didn't make one to sling over the LEFT SHOULDER too. That would of been perfect for what i need it for. I do a lot of wading for Smallmouth. I use Spinning outfits, so I like to pack two rods with me, each with its own job! Here let me paint you a picture of why this pack made to sling over my LEFT shoulder, would be perfect, so bare with me please. Since i wade and carry two spinning outfits, so i don't have to keep changing up and wasting time tying and retying, each outfit has ts own job. What i found works best is a old cheap fanny pack slung over my left shoulder. Why Left you ask, Because I'm right handed, and remember I'm packing two tools.
Now, with the fanny pack slung over my left shoulder, i found this works perfect to have one rod at work in had and the second, here it comes you all.... Yes, the second rod at the ready, attached to the fanny pack strap, across my chest. I know your like what? but this works, and would like to show it rather than dare try to describe it...
There are many draw backs though, mainly being not enough storage. Although I don't need much tackle, there just isn't the room for other things in my little fanny pack. Oh how i wish I could show you what I mean, and what I could use......
don moore You explained it pretty well here. Got it. Email or call the shop. They might be able to get a left handed version made for you.
I am with you. I wade fish a bunch for smallmouth with a fly rod and have an old William Joseph sling pack that could be switched over to the left shoulder. I carry a second rod; 7wt sink tip dredger, broken in half but otherwise ready to go strapped to my back and sticking up and to the left out of the way of my cast.
Looks like a great pack to start with. You can always upgrade in the future.
Very true. Thanks for watching.
This might be a silly question, does it work comfortably if worn over left shoulder (maybe it's ergonomically designed for right shoulder)?
Not a silly question! You’re correct, it is designed for the right shoulder. It could be worn on the left, though it may feel a bit awkward.
Feel free to shoot us an email if you need anything!
admin@madriveroutfitters.com we’re always here to help. 👍
like the looks of this pack
Nick Hinman It’s pretty good, especially for the money.
God looking pack , going on my wish list
RONALD FISHER Cool. Thanks for being here.

Looks like a nice bag
Thanks for watching, Adam!
Hi Brian how can I get hold of one of them ,because I live in G B ,I really look forward to seeing your Chanel, stay safe all xx
There is a link in the video description here where you can buy one. Thanks.
I got this for christmas! :) I might email ya for some more info on certain uses for it.
The folks in the shop will be happy to help. Thanks.
It’d be nice to see a video of it in use on the water.
Thanks for watching and stay tuned 😉
Nice video Brian 👍. That is a Awesome price 😲
Great value. Thanks as always for watching.
Sweet pack. Buckle just broke on my Simms so I will be replacing it with this one!
Thanks for watching.
If I didn't already own an Orvis sling pack I'd purchase this one! I may purchase it anyway.
We'd be happy to send one along.
Is the sling pack manufactured by Fishpond?
Nope, but it's definitely similar in a lot of respects!
Hey mad River I'm going back to school in a little bit and I got a new backpack and I still have my old backpack and was wandering if you have any accessories like a fly patch or exe
Probably so. Check the website or give a call to the shop and they can help there.
I recently bought one of these and am trying to figure it out (currently using a vest). It appears that the shorter strap is used to stabilize the pack on your back when hiking, etc., and before sliding the pack to the front you un-clip the shorter strap?
Please contact the shop directly and they will be happy to help you with that. Thanks.
Great pack. Gonna have to grab one.
Pretty simple and functional.
Dude outstanding
Thanks for watching.
Are you guys still selling these? Can’t seem to find them on the store online
Sorry but they were discontinued a few years back. Quality went down and the price went up.....WAY up.....Video was made private at that time as we always do so not sure how you found this to be honest. They do have a few options in the shop at a good price point. Feel free to call them to inquire! Thanks.
@@Madriveroutfitters no worries! I couldn’t believe it when I heard the price haha. I think the video is up and open as of yesterday. So might want to check to make sure
Good looking sling pack. Not too crazy about the fly patch on the back. In all honesty, over the years I've tried a few sling packs, but keep going back to my Fishpond Sagebrush vest.
David Rosset Fly patch on the back? Don’t think so. Vests are great too of course.
@@Madriveroutfitters if not a fly patch/holder then what is the rippled gray foam thing?
Why would two people not like that video???^^^^^^^
Because they're cashiers at Cabela's. Thanks for watching, Don!
That makes sense. Probably a brother and sister in wedlock.
Wow!! Love it
Excellent. Thanks for watching.
If they can pack a 6pack im sold
Bogdan Coman Probably so but call the shop to confirm. They always have one in the fridge.
any idea when new stock will come in?
Dillon You’d have to check with the shop directly and they can surely tell you.
Has this product been discontinued?
Yes, it has. Quality went down and guess what......the price went up.....way up. Have a look at the Simms Tributary. Now cheaper and much better quality.
You should do this for waders and chest rigs and nets and rods and reels!!
Matt Cook second this but only for waders.
Is the pack waterproof?
No, not at all.
@@Madriveroutfitters thank you!
Is this right shoulder only?
Ryan Conrod You’d have to contact the shop directly. Not sure on that. Thanks.
Looks better than my fishpond 😂
Probably not better.....but still a nice pack at a nice price.
Do you still sell this?
No, it has been discontinued. A replacement idea video is coming soon. Thanks.
Will this fit a full-sized nalgene water bottle in the bottle holder?
That would be a "customer service" question for the folks at the shop. Shoot them an e-mail and they can confirm for you. Thanks.
@@Madriveroutfitters Will do, thanks!
Just got mine in the mail today! I can’t wait to use it!
Thanks for the biz! Enjoy.
Really nice great price ALIEN
Agreed!
Looks like a fishpond lawsuit on its way :D Identical to the summit.
Been on the market for 4 years now and no lawsuit yet. Not identical by the way…..we sell both.
